  1. for some reason all the race car drivers I am around keep telling me Mid-Rear is the only way....
  2. MAF is next item...I did clean it and it looked fine....going to swap it soon to compare. if you note the DYNO GRAPH....there is no loss up high...its only at a certin RPM point/range...so that thows that theory out.
  3. thats a big negative there ghostrider..... The A/F's would go lean where the dip is if the TPS wasnt working. I'll still check it to be safe....but I dont think thats it.
  4. it appears to be fine as well. When i first got the car, it was happening between 3 and 4 initially....eventually that kinda dissapeared...then resurfaced in the 4~5 range...now its getting worse. its a very consistant thing....and if you keep it in a gear, going up hill you can ease the pedal to the floor and still have gradual full power...but as soon as you get past about 95% throttle, you feel the power suddenly drop off...back the pedal off 5% or so and it comes back. But there's still a loss form only going 85~90% WOT.....
  5. 1996 Legacy Outback Wagon 204,000 miles on it All original engine/tranmsission Here's what its doing... That was a few weeks ago...NOW the dip is starting at 3000....and continuing until 5500. It has a new knock sensor, and all the other sensors are working correctly. No CEL's at all. I am running sythetic oil, Motul 5w30 8100 series, the timing belt is only about 50k old. Coil-wire-plugs are approx 25k old, replaced about 8 months ago. Air filter is fresh. O2 sensors are same age/mileage as the ignition stuffs. Ive run seafoam thru it...to no affect. C16 fuel did nothing. I did 20+ dyno runs that day swapping things out and trying stuff and nothing worked....and now it is getting worse. any ideas?
  6. Fuel Injection or carb? Since its a 93 I assume FI... I would try replaceing the ECU coolant temp sensor or atleast checking to make sure of the connection and function. If not that...possibly the MAF or MAP's operation and connection.
  7. Welpl, finally picked up the GL-10 sedan that i WAS going to use as a donor car for fixing the RX.... and im not going to use it for that. Its actually in pretty good condition....so... 1987 GL-10 Sedan, white/blue 2WD, 3AT, SPFI (YES! SPFI GL-10!) Rear drums! Soon to be swapped out tho... Plans are...fix all the little oil/coolant leaks, and remove the AC for now as it doesnt work...install a working PS pump, dual groove pully on the ALT, and swap on all the RX's suspension bits...and depending on if I decide to run STS or FSP, maybe run the race tires in it. That and work up an intake and exhaust for it as the stock units are in pretty sad shape. Best thing about all this is it will cost me less than $100 for all of it. Next...it'll be my daily driver since its a SPFI N/A car...I had one for a while, and while it does lack the power...its reliable and unquestiable as long as you keep an eye on things. Outback? its going to be sold. I need the $ that its worth to pay bills and i cannot afford to keep up with it and maintain it. Its in really well kept condition right now, but I know what I want it to be (fast, handling, good looking) and its completely stock now...but I dont want it around to tempt me to spend money on it. So expect it to be for sale soon (new tires will be on it, fresh oil...etc...). In the mean time, we'll actually have some SPFI technological development and dyno numbers soon....as well as pics! btw...anyone got any sedan tail lights they want to get rid of?
  8. yeah yeah yeah... :-p
  9. *POP slap slap slap slap....* whats that? Oh snap! I broke an axle. I suppose I could bring extra axles to each event.
  10. Its not going to be my daily driver....tho I imagine I will drive it alot more than my current daily... and yes I agree...no one at a local or regional autox is going to protest the engine. Divisional? not likely either. However, the car and I are GOING to be nationally competitive in FSP, that means I will be at Topeka, and most likely, the engine/boost/EMS will get protested. I am prepared for that. FSP is a class that suits an actual representation of what this car should be able to do with stock boost and stock engine internals....but everything else done (suspension, EMS, intake/intercooler/exhaust, stock sized rotors/stock calipers/Panther P+ pads...etc...). SM would be the class that is still a street class...but yet, you can build the car to several levels. At the MAX the RX would feature full suspension to suit 5x114.3, STi size brakes, 17x13 rims wrapped with 335/35/17 Rcomps, an ER27 with custom heads and a special Deadbolt GT28RS putting out well over 400hp, most likely a 6spd with the DCCD-B...or a RX box with RA gears or something else RX-Custom...full cage and more...and it would be completely street legal. In that trim I imagine that I would drive that whenever I could. The name of the game for me is...ive only got two cars...and the 1st one is the RX, I want it fast, but I want it to completely dominate the class that I run it in. FSP is going to be that class. 2nd, Outback...it stays stock.
  11. well it IS a 12 spd. 5 in low, 5 in high...1 each in reverse.
  12. So ive got a 98 2.5 RS 5spd apart...and an 88 RX 5spd D/R apart....just at the center diffs tho. Hmmmmmmmm....much interesting...pics to come.
  13. there's a place right up the street that will do it. $150...flat rate forwhatever you can fit in the 'box'. FSP is a stock internals class. Pistons are free as long as they are "of original dimentions and weight"...which means I might as well not even consider pistons. The stock ones are fine.
  14. So...with this new engine I am building...I'm thinking about cryo treating everything. I'm going to have it apart down to split block halves, to deck and hone the block, new rings, reworked heads.....etc... I am wondering if its worth the time and $ to cryo everything. Block, bearings, rods, pistons, rings...heads...etc... ?
  15. coolness. Hey...MS has LAUNCH CONTROL! hmmm...Anti-Lag is next?
  16. To the left...2005 STi, its a track only car with a 20G turbo and full exhaust with an Ecutek tune, puts down over 300 at the wheels. 2005 Outback XT, 6spd conversion and an axis long block with a GT35R+NOS and some other goodies...expecting to see well over 650 WHP with that. 2003 EVO 8...GT35R build and all kinds of suspension and drag race goodies...expecting to see well over 600 at the wheels with it as well. Just the RX belongs to me. The GL-10 is in the charlotte area...and I have the 96 Outback sitting out front. What I cut out was the entire left front sheet metal forward of the strut tower, and 1/2 way over on the front radiator pannel. I have not got the donor car here yet, so its still sitting here in peices. OOO...race tires! I'll have to see those. So you made the car FSP legal now? Thats the class I will be running in when its done... I'd like to get the car done this year and atleast do a few local events in it before it gets parked for winter/off season re-rebuild...depending on when its done, I might not even run it on race tires until next season.
  17. Powder coated...and yes thats the same one that was rather bent a month or so ago....ive got all the damaged stuff cut off the car now.
  18. A little update on the RX....new wheels for it and about 1/2 of the parts for the rebuild are present. Waiting to get the donor car there so i can start cutting and welding more.
  19. Well, I actually owned the car before Steven purchased it from me for the challenge...we put it together and him and DrBiggly (Mike) from NASIOC took it down there. After that...steven lost interest in it after we did the RWD conversion on it, it sat for several months...and at some point I traded him my 2.5 RS sedan for it.....i put it back to AWD...and started autoxing it seriously and did quite well. Right now its under reconstruction at Top Speed, im going to compete with it nationally in FSP. In the meantime...my EX-RS is rapidly becomming a nationally competitive DSP car.
  20. Use SUBARU OE filters ONLY. Or Wix from NAPA. 1361 is the NAPA number.
  21. the disty might be 180* off. It happens sometimes.
  22. SvRex: Remember this one from 2004?
  23. No. They function just fine for smaller turbos. Its the large internally gated ones that need a slightly better DW design...or a well thought out bellmouth. Otherwise, the DW will be way more than ok for the VF7. Anything is better than the stocker at this point.
  24. ha....ha...ha....and I thought this thread was going to be about SUBARUs in space.
