  1. THIRD i need to speeeeeeel just as JUST and not jsut. ROFL
  2. first off...where's my parts? second...my RX has more than that invested into it and it still sits and I see it every single time i look around at the shop....so I feel your pain. it jsut takes patience and jsut work at it little by little.
  3. Total BS. EGRS (S for system) is ONLY there to recycle exhaust gases for reburning so that tail pipe emissions are 'better.' Any given EA82 is designed the same and its was a hit or miss if an EA82 car came wth an EGRS or not. My shop instructor at school said it was a "performance enhancing device"....total BS. I found out the hard and smart way (both at the same time, go figure!) way that reburning exhaust gases is BAD. why would you want yout intake charge to got from sub 120* F to over 1000*F?????????????????????????????????????? Thats stupid. ERGS only exist to lower certin tail pipe emissions and lower performance.
  4. The parts car hath commeth apart! Tomorrow the rest ofthe front end will be stripped down and cut up...and the welding shall commence on the RX to peice it back together. The new engine is on the engine stand now...and is awaiting build up....just gotta clean it up and bolt stuff on it. Unfortunatly the downpipe (TWE from Folgers) didnt show up friday, so it wont be running until I get that downpipe...and I'll be waiting on a windsheild too. But...its begun. Pics tomorrow!
  5. Everyone has rally'd these things. Thats out. NO ONE has road raced them....and ahrdly anyone has Autox's these....and NO ONE has been competitive nationally with one.
  6. how about that is going into the 87 as its final SM build for Solo2.
  7. We are going to have 3 shop cars here at Top Speed/WJM Rallye Sport.... my 1987 RX Coupe, my 1987 GL-10 sedan, and JWX's 1989 RX Coupe. my 87 RX is going to be an FSP Autocross car, so it will be 10% street legal and driveable. The 87 GL-10 is going to get its front end donated to the RX so the RX can live again. The 89 RX is already completely stripped down...still had some suspension parts on it. That means we have the 87 Sedan and 89 Coupe avalible for random development projects... I am curious to hear/read what you guys would like to see developed from these 3 project cars.....I am contemplating building the sedan as a serious bid at Solo1/Time Trails in SM class. as for the 89 Coupe...I have no clue, as that is up to JWX, since he owns the chassis. So...what do you all think?
  8. that was after the slamm'age. At that state it had the 'yellow' springs on the front and my custom coilovers on the back set too high.
  9. i must find pics of my wagon when I had it slammed.
  10. am I the only one to have actually bolted on a larger throttle body on an EA82 (turbo or not) and actually have driven it more than 500 miles? if you can recall...I bolted on an XT6 throttlebody onto a turbo spyder intake manifold, and that went into my GL-10 wagon. I blew two engines shortly after due to poor tuning (on stock EMS) running over 15 PSI of boost on two blocks that were very high mileage. That setup is still sitting on my wagon...and has not made it onto my RX...yet. However, today in scrounging thru parts, I came up with a complete spyder intake, the upper half of an XT6 manifold, an XT6 TB...and two other TBs...a normal one and one from a spyder. I've never read/heard of anyone else actually installing a larger TB onto their setups...just spyder intakes or fancy home made intake systems....I am about to embark on another spyder-XT6TB conversion for the RX....this time I'll be sure to document it. but agian...I ask....has anyone else done this?
  11. *subscribes to make sure I put in my spyder conversion input in when I get home*
  12. when it didnt and had the wrong size....inside rear wheel lift. I was talkign to Joel at the Peru Tour...asked him the fix for that as the car was PLANTED...he said he got the F/R swaybar setup correct on it.
  13. i am exploring options on sway bars. Ultimately I will have 25~27MM front and rear bars. Yes I was VERY suprised to see that whiteline offered ANYTHING for the Leone's. Stompy (ESP prepped STi running out of Atltanta GA thru the likes of Joel Ferhman and Tommy Pilliam (sp?) is running 40mm front and unknown rear (tho it is known that the rear is OVER 35MM)...along with some crazy springs rates...12k front and 19k rear on 285/30/18 Khumo V710's.
  14. same issues before....during...and after, and YEARS before dyno too.
  15. FRONT for the Gen3(EA82) Leone/Loyale/XT.... 20MM. Retail on it should be around $150...and it comes with the swaybar bushings. I might go for that...as I only have a 19mm on it now.
  16. ...for yet another episode of "WJM breaks something" I was headed to Asheville today...from Top Speed...to get some parts and hang out at tomorrow's autox. I took the 'Dragon Route'....aka head up 400 to 19/129....nice twisty roads up hill....bypassed the dragon ofcourse, as I was hauling butt to get to prestige on time. STILL made better time going that way than pure interstate....which means I was going rather fast. So...nice long hard run thru the mnt roads...and I make it to A'ville fine and dandy and barely on time to get parts. So I get to Kent's place...and the temp guage is rather high...i check the system...fans are on...blwoing cold air thru the radiator... LOTS of air in the system. I let it cool and refill...it didnt take much, maybe 1 qt. It acts funny sometimes, and it leads me to think the original from 1996 with 204,000 miles on them headgaskets are stsrting to go and are already leaking a microscopic bit..... So, looks like its headgasket time. STi headgaskets for me! So, if I am going to do that AND buy new tires for it (with what $ i ask myself? Seriously....what $?)...I might as well keep it as it will be reliable again. So....might as well find some front and rear bars and endlinks, fix the brakes (TOAST after the mnt run) with some slotted rotors, lines, motul 5.1, and some Panther P+ pads....some good wide tires for the 15" stock rims...say, 225/70/15 Sumitomo HTR200...work on the intake and exhuast, and it'll be a fun to drive and reliable daily driver...I hope. Yes, 70 series sidewalls so I can run over curbs, sidewalks, trees, nasty bumps and other things of that nature with ease....afterall, it IS an Outback. Meanwhile the RX will have along and teadious complete and total rebuild this winter. Cliffnotes: WJM blows another headgasket on a SUBARU.
  17. For EJxxx series engines... So....are these headbolts Torque to yeild? meaning they cannot (errr...should not) be reused?
  18. its a viscous center that keeps the 50/50 split better...instead of an open center thats 100/0 or 44/56 or 30/70 or whatever at any given time.
  19. Our very own Zoombaru is in a bit of trouble... She's got an 86 GL-10 thats down with timing belt issues...just needs a spring on that thing and the belts on it and it should be golden. Problem is that the landlord of the current location of the car wants it gone...like last month...and its going to get towed....she needs the car to either: 1. Move under its own power. 2. A temporary place to park it until its running (2 weeks she tells me) 3. ?????? 4. Profit!! Seriously, is there anyone in Cali, around the Fremont (bay area) area that can help her out? Basically its a lack of tools...She's really in a tight spot...lets show her some USMB love....ive done all I can over the phone and messenger...next to flying out there....
