whay NASIOC sucks again....(rant inside)
WJM replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is a galactic sized gap between these two places...aka Leone/BRAT/Justy/XT/XT6/etc...vs anything EJxxx....aka NASIOC vs USMB Old School. Why? Comes down to this... USMB OS=$500 car, less than 1000 put into it and it does all kinds of neato stuff 4x4 or EA82T etc...parts avalibility? only OE style replacement and pretty much ZERO performance (only TWE parts and links that I and a few others have posted...otherwise nothing) We work on everything about it and invest all the free time we have into it and in 90% of the cases would not pay anyone else to do anything to our cars...must less let anyone behind the wheel of it. NASIOC=$20,000 to $34,000 car, and sometimes over $50k invested. Aftermarket? HUGE. Parts avalibility? HUGE. What do they usually do? Send it off to some shop or dealer for evey single bit of the work. Do they really truly car aobut the car? In the end, no. THey will trade it all away for something faster and newer and dont give it a second thought. Most of NASIOC nowadays are ricers...but some are knowledgeable people. SOME NASIOC'ers are people like us and do all the work them sevles...but still spend the large $$$$ on aftermarket parts. I am one who fits in with the NASIOC crowd quite well....however, when it comes down to it, I have a Leone...and just that little fact still makes 90% of the people on NASIOC steer away from me and not listen and ignore me. Thru my technical knowledge of the EJ cars, my autox'ing knowledge and everything else SUBARU related...I have been able to overcome 99% of the problems with the great division...and I have earned a permanent place in the South East Region....Motorsports is next. Anywhere else right now, and people would see my 'profile' and say "WT-F? Who's WJM? Oh, no EJ car? f*** him." In the end, its all about SUBARUs....but, NASIOC is the "North American SUBARU Impreza Owner's Club." So, no Impreza...no NASIOC bascially. I've owned 2 Impreza's so technically I have the "right" to be there... USMB is not specified on model...so, anyone is welcome. -
The outside and inside of mine is clean....I dont worry about the engine bay...until now. Since Ive got everything out, it will be spotless before I rebuild it.

Anyhow...back on topic... My RX is comming along well...I just need time to work on it. So what springs/struts are you using and sway bars? Oh, and whats the tire size? xxx/xx/15...?

we are babbling about things. :-p
-
yeah.

she has one post...I sent her the link to this this morning....and Jo too.

YAY! One more RX autocrossing! I cant wait to get mine back up and running... Yeah, NO SM2!!!!!! These cars are in SM unless they are underweight, or overdisplacement. Its a common mistake by locals to place 2 door cars in SM2 because the rules state 2 seater sports cars are in SM2 (RX7's and some others)...but, any SUBARU is in SM unless it doesnt meet min/max requirements.

Correction...it is legal. BUT...in this class there is no weight min...but its not like I can reduce weight to counter the added weight of the cage, so I am not going to add 100~200 lbs of metal to the car for zero gains. IF i were to Solo1/Time Trial/Time Attack the car...then I would need a Solo1 Roll bar, not a cage....and I would have it installed. -

Well, the donor car has done its job...the enigne is out and apart, and the sheet metal has been cut from it....now, a littel trimming here and there and its ready to be welded onto the RX. -
snAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAp! that beat is so....frrrrrrrrrrresh!

find a body shop and see how they do their work and you can follow that on restoring your wagon. Sunroof glass can be found at a junkyard...there are still many GLs w/sunroofs and GL-10's around....just have to find them. right now I am working on my RX...i smoooooshed it up a little... Before.... During.... After.... I'm working in it! The body work is not bad at all if you just DO IT and know how to weld and cut and ahve some fabrication skills.
-
Exactly. RX/II is Euro-JDM models. I dont think Auz ever got the first RX, so to them they are RXs...and they never got the FT4WD trans either, IIRC.
-
eitherway...whiteline never made anything for our cars, until I got into the COMPLETE catalog....so, I am going to investigate those items....

I know..........lol

know anything about the JDM EJ20DETT?
WJM replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
basically, all the EJ's are all the same, just like the EA82's. an EJ18 or 16 is the same as an EJ25. Just different bore/stroke....sometimes different heads... many things will interchange. Basic engine parts, like crank/pistons/rods/gaskets.....you can find easily from SOA, but you ahve to mix'n'match somethings. Like EJ20G pistons you cant get here...but the EJ205's are the same thing, but not forged. So in a pinch you can use them. But you can find aftermarket forged EJ20x pistons easy. Or you can slide an EA82T piston in there, its the same bore. -
Ugh, I'm about to give up...
WJM replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
welll...split it up into little boxes then. getting little bits at a time is better than nothing. -
a bone stock RX in low range will be DEAD even with a fully STX prepped WRX (header, full turbo back, EMS tune but with STOCK boost as per class rules, intake...basically 250hp~280hp at the wheels) off the line....until we both hit 2nd gear.

Legacy's/Liberty's....only in non USDM forms, usually from 1995+ and were AWIC'd. -

No such thing as an EJ20DETT. that would be nissan-ricer talk for a 2.0 suby engine with DOHC and twin turbo tho..... basically its the same thing as any other EJxxx engine. YOu can get parts for it easily. JDM stuff is easy to find. they are reliable as long as you treat it right..... check out nasioc.com for all your EJxxx information needs.
