  1. basically it's an SUS with a 2.2. it's not some ginormously huge rig or anything. i never requested go-fastitude...
  2. no, you're absolutely right. i'm not racing for points and i'm not an SCCA member. i just want to try it for fun expecting to get last place, and i'm fine with it. you can't take it all too seriously. here's the site for the events: www.nhscc.com
  3. so i finally got ym wife to let me autocross the legacy in 2 weeks. here's what's up.. it's lifted with outback struts and has 205/75r15 trail marks on it. they are pretty sticky though. i feel that my real problem lies in that it's an automatic.. do you think i should let the tranny do it's thing when it thinks it needs to, or should i use 1/2/3 shifter to do it my way? please, i'd prefer no speculation from people who havn't done it.
  4. that doesn't matter in the least. if someone runs a redlight at a 4way intersecting and the guy with the green t-bones the idiot, why would it be the green lighter's fault??
  5. check out the 90's Gens Only thread here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54119
  6. yeah, i dunno. i guess it's because if you pass someone on a dark road and accidentally forget to turn off the highs then that's a lot of light going into the passsing car. i made my hellas only turn on with the highs. i figure if i need enough light to use the hellas, i also need the high beams, that way if i'm using them (un-legally) i can flip the high beam lever and turn off the hellas at the same time.
  7. no, i'm not an inspection mechanic, though i worked at an inspection station for 2 1/2 years as an assistant to the head inspection tech. But i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. yeah, the rear window rule (as far as a i know) goes for cars. pickups vans and suvs are expemt i beleive. we've scraped many stickers off of rear windows before because they were either too big, in the center of the window, or otherwise.
  8. also, sorry for the double post, but the fog lights have to turn off when the high beams turn on. i think that's more important then them actually working.
  9. because there can't be if's. i understand your point and agree with you. but if you get into variables it confuses things. it's just easier to say "if you bought it that way, it's gotta stay that way."
  10. look, it's a pain in the arse to get an inspection. my wife's is overdue after today actually because i havn't had time to take it in. but there's no arguing that strict state inspections keep more cars safe than in states without inspections. Period.
  11. no no, tints don't fail. that's a legal matter not an inspection matter. only an officer can do something about tint.
  12. no, you're retarded to interpreting what we've said like that. all emissions and safety equiptment installed from the factory must be present and functioning. cats muffler exhaust must dump outside the car evap system correct size battery all suspension components headlights fog lights turn signals reverse lights brake lights (including 3rd) wiper blades horn washer fluid pump tires must have more than 2/32nds brake pads must be more than 2b or 1r discs must be within spec stated on the rotor spidering cracks in windshield fail complete hole in windshield fails anything in the line of sight fails no obtrusive rear window stickers nothing below the specified line your windshield that's most of it...the important stuff anyway.
  13. no, he's right. you're a fellow pittsburgher, you should be used to it. ALL FACTORY EQUIPTMENT MUST WORK!!! PERIOD, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS! if there never was a rear wiper, it doesn't fail. if there is one from the factory and it doesn't work, it fails. live with it. that's the law, if you don't like it move to ohio or write rendell.
  14. 8" plus king lift springs on my outback struts. after all that i'd have to lengthen the camber adjustments... i dunno....31-10.50's? i'd be able to get some Good Year MT/R's at that size i tried photoshopping in a mudrat bumper or a brush guard, but it wasn't looking good. i think this shopchop came out pretty convincingly..
  15. i had this problem in my 96 legacy a few years ago. it was my after market horns. they were hooked up wrong and kept blowing the light fuse.
  16. right, you're only thinking of it from a customer's standpoint. everything's set to an "amount of time" that it takes. if an exhaust on an impreza normally takes 1.5 hours, but i've done so many that i can do it in 15 minutes, then why should i get screwed just because i have experience?? trust me, the majority of the time your car's in the garage, it's just sitting there, probably already done, while you wait in the waiting room for aother hour. that's just how it is brotha
  17. i know i'm not wiping up all that drool....
  18. wait wait wait wait.... i thought the outback didn't become the outback we all know and love until 97. the 96 is just a legacy wagon with twotone paint i thought... in fact i'm pretty sure... what size are the tires you have on it now? by now i mean supposed to
