  1. Check for rust, nothing else really matters as it can all be swaped easy and cheap.
  2. Thanks. This one is pretty good too, it's just a different angle on that big rock.
  3. Totally. With no sway bar, it's just the one bolt and the 36mm. It takes longer to get the tools out than the axle!
  4. I use wax-based lubes on my bike so sand won't stick to the drive chain. Try White Lightning, it's parafin wax suspened in alcohol. You can find it at your local bicycle shop.
  5. Down here, we take safety very seriously.
  6. I made my roomate push the car up this big rock. Randall was not impressed. This seemed like a good place to park for our mandatory safety break. This shot doesn't do the view any justice. That's the Gunnison River, and the Grand Juncyard is way back there.
  7. Sweet! Subarus will unite the world in peace and happiness for sure now.
  8. I didn't say anything about the rear end. What I sez is that all traditionally lifted cars need longer hoses and pitchstopper, the p-brake lines are too short, and that the inherent Subaru camber goofiness will become more apparent. That stuff is just par for the course with any lift.
  9. IT should be noted that the "problems" mentioned here are gonna happen with any brand of lift, ie; hoses, camber, pitch stopper and whatnot. Also, if you're gonna wheel a Subie, things like "alignment" just go right out the window. I've got steering and suspension components from like five different cars, don't need no stinkin' alignment.
  10. You might hafta pry the bellhousing apart to get it started. Just be gentle and work it side to side.
  11. True enough in theory, but these are 20 year old Subaru's we're talkin' about! The diff isn't centered on the body to begin with, just think of the difference between the "easy axle" and "hard axle". The answer is just to bend both sides to hell equally. I'm not saying a renforced bar isn't a good idea, just that it's low on the list of priorities.
  12. I hear bamboo has a good strength-to-weight ratio.
  13. Mines bent to hell. I think they get bent to a point at which they can bend no more and as such become stronger. Besides, the big bushing on the diff carrier takes the load. The mustache bar just keep the diff from flopping around.
  14. All my lift bolcks are solid aluminum with steel strut extensions. It actually weighs more than steel box-tube.
  15. Sounds fun, but not wearing a seatbelt for something like that is retarded.
  16. Yeah, and finding yours in a crowded parking lot would suck. The Legacy is lookin' good!
  17. You can do 75, but you'll get low 20's. However, drive at like 55 instead of 75 you'll get 25+. Moral of the story: skip the highway, take the backroads.
  18. I went that route on the way to Sedona a few years ago. In my van, though. Good stuff.
  19. I went out there with John (the sucker king). It's not too bad, but Carnage Canyon is gnarly. You could probably drive a Subie down it though.
  20. I might have asked before.... Anyway, how much do I need to extend an EA82 non-power steering shaft for a 3" lift? Please don't make me use the Pythagorean Theorem! Gobble, Gobble. Gobble Gobble, Gobble Gobble Gobble. Gobble, Gobble.
  21. Riiiight, because that's safe. There wasn't any snow in this crash?? Crashing in snow is always accepted, encouraged even.
  22. I'm SURE you can find some pugs up there if you keep looking.
  23. It seems that way,at least for SPFI. A local muffler shop put in my bung for $15.
