  1. I was 17 or so, and I think the inspection guy felt he was teaching me some sort of lesson about "the law". No joke.
  2. PA inspection is brutal. All I can say is find a county without an emissions requirement. I got failed for Fuzzy Dice once.
  3. Just barely keeping up with traffic on the Parkway, huh? I was thinking of EA cars. EJ's don't count either.
  4. I got stopped doing 82 in a 75 on flat highway the other day. No ticket though. I was kinda surprised - about the speed I mean. The cop was hunting tourists, so my local ID saved me. Since I put the new motor in, I can use 5th occasionally too. This is with 26.5 A/T tires, spfi ea82. What kinda results do ya'll get? Going down a big hill doesn't count.
  5. FIRE! I use a propane torch on mine and the bearings, boots, stubs, and cv's are none the worse for it. I've beat on axles for literally hours to no avail, only to have them come off in a few minutes with the torch.
  6. I'm sorry, but that exchange struck me as really funny. That's such a 3 am post. Or 2, Pacific time. Er, um, never mind me.
  7. Welcome to the real world.
  8. It facilitates plate removal as well! I can't see any other way to do it with the stock skid though.
  9. So you truly have a screw loose. I can't believe their was blind rage goin' on in the driveway and I missed it.
  10. Minny-soatin Safari Style! I like it. Get 'er done! Wait till you get to drive it in deep snow. You won't be crashing this one in the driveway. Do you have tires lined up yet?
  11. SWEET! The AA stuff looks good. Much better than the pile of unfinished aluminum that comprised my lift. I'm rather partial to the 88, ya know. So, you got the all the center plastic out and it still won't shift? Is the boot on the lever still? That's what was happening with mine at first, elasticity in the boot was pulling it out of gear, or getting pinched between the lever and console and preventing it from shifting at all.
  12. Hey Chux, when did you lift your wagon? I musta missed that.
  13. So when are we gonna see that thing on the trail??!! Its lookin good, btw. The dual e-brake is a good idea, but I have enough problems forgetting to release the brakes as it is. I'd be driving around with one wheel locked for sure.
  14. I'm sure you can! But I'm guessing you lowered the car offa stands and right off the camber is wacky. Right? Drive to the end of the driveway and back and it'll be fine. Or can the car not move yet? Which bolts? What's wrong with the linkage?
  15. Safari Wagon! 88 GL 3" BYB lift 14" Pugs with 225/70 Walmart AT's CCR spfi engine Industrial strength bike racks Really big sunroof
  16. The swamper on the roof looks rather puny and out of place. Yikes.
  17. They are supposed to have camber like that to a point. The lift and/or big tires may make it look more pronounced, but the the car was like that stock. Also, if it's been on stands and you just set it on the ground, it'll exaggerate the camber. Once the suspension gets cycled [by driving etc] it'll settle down a bit.
  18. Gee Dave, what are you gonna drive in the meantime? Oh yeah, my car.
  19. It's fixed. Delta ground the cams wrong. I now have stock cams and all is right in the world. CCR rules, btw. Thanks guys/girl!
  20. Thank you for that brilliant insight. I'm really just wondering what the track record is. What's the price on the Blaster 3?
  21. The instructions call for an .8 ohm resistor to be used if the Blaster coil is used with a non-MSD points style ignition. Eh?
  22. I'm also wondering if the Resistor is needed. Bump for the answers, please!
  23. Old thread, but I thought it would be good to keep all the relevant info in one place.... My Accell 8140 lasted a couple weeks. It still technically functioned, but was sparkin' real weak. The stock coil put it to shame. So yesterday I returned it to AutoZone and got a Blaster 8202. It seems based on the stuff I'm reading these are no better than the Accell! Mine pretty clearly says "made in Mexico" on the package. Thoughts?
  24. I wouldn't tell them EA anything; the guys at the dealership don't even get that. :-\
