ea71 flywheel installation
doobieryan replied to doobieryan's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I already have the new bearing, just couldn't figure out how to get the old one out. Lol. But thanks, that's helpful Is there anything else I should know? I heard something about rtv on the flywheel bolts, but that might be just ea81s -
I just bought a 1980 brat last week that needed a clutch. I pulled the motor and clutch and noticed my flywheel teeth were pretty marred up, so I ordered a new one. Like an idiot when I took the old one off, I didn't pay attention to where the timing marks went... Can anyone help me figure out how to get it properly aligned? Also, how do you get the pilot bearing out of the rear main seal? Thanks, Ryan

I figured it was about that much. And it's a wagon. They probably do interchange, but wouldn't want to take the chance anyway. Lol -

Might just have to go grab it, Prolly be cheaper than getting a new one if I even could... -

It's an ea82 vehicle -
My dad has a gl 10 and the sunroof flew out of it. Anyone have one they're parting out?

I really wanted it. Drove great, but they wouldn't give me enough for trade in on my truck, so not this time... And I knew about the older 2.5s having problems, but for some reason it seems like I remember the turbo ones not having all the issues. Maybe not. But that's why I asked. Don't know a whole lot about the newer ones. Haven't kept up since I got rid of my subie a few years ago.

nope, theyre stock subaru 15 inch rims. really nice car and everything works, except when it gets to normal operating temp it dies. any ideas what that may be?

correct me if im wrong, but since its already wired up for an mpfi motor wouldn't that make an ej swap a lot easier? just a thought, came across a nice one with the stock gold 15 inch rims and everything, its soooo nice...except for the ea82t. Thanks, Ryan

k, sounds like im just gonna go with another auto. im very confident i could get er done in a weekend, and i would love a manual tranny, but i dont feel like puttin that much work into it. besides, my real project is my truck im doing a chassis swap on. Im just looking to spend a few hours on this car, and i think to avoid the torque converter issues im just gonna leave the tc from the donor in the tranny. prolly grab me some cv axles too cause mine are clickin pretty bad. ill probably go to the junk yard next weekend and see what they got.

haha. It has been too hot here, its always just like another neutral. If it were winter i might get a little bit out of it lol. maybe i will do a 5 speed swap. what all would that require? i can do all the work, im pretty good with a wrench, i just dont wanna miss anything off the donor car(s) cause the pull and save is 100 miles away and the car needs to be runnin the next day.

93 legacy ej22 with a 4eat. reverse stopped working last weekend. tranny fluid is fine, doesnt smell burnt or anything. has 220,000 miles. all forward gears work just fine. i was wondering if this is a common issue, maybe just a vacuum line or something?? im new to the new gen. im prolly gonna go to pull and save this weekend and get another tranny if you guys think its toast. Thanks, Ryan
