EA82 - died this morning
Got the car home. Each time I went to drive it it ran for less time. Ended up towing it the last 3 miles. Durin the last run period the engine wasn't running as well the tack was jumping around in the last minute or so of run time. Seems what ever the problem is it is getting worst. Will think about it a few days since the weekend is busy with grads and things. Thanks for the input.

EA82 - died this morning
Tried to drive home. Started right up. Ran great for a few miles like unt full operating temp. Then same thing feels like running out I gas. But why would the fuel pump quit with engine temp? Or is there a common señor that fails once warmed up.

EA82 - died this morning
Hi all, I had just picked a 91' Wagon, put new head gaskets on it.. Went for a few test drives around the block, like 2- 4 miles and ran great. not my drver so I haven't been driving it however I thougth I would drive it into work today which is like a 11 mile drive. Car just sputtered and died as I was getting into the parking lot. It started back up but with no idle, then died. Did that a few times to get in a parking spot and am sitting here hoping it will run to get me back home. Felt like maybe a fuel issue, but looking for other ideas.. the car has 137K and the gasket swap went well. thanks

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Yahoo,, it's A-Live,,, Had picked up a '91 Loyal Wagon with bad head gaskets. Ordered up a set of Stone Head gaskets and got them in. Sounds fine running smooth and quite. So far a good investment.. $350 mostly straight 137K miles... $150 parts,, equals runner...

EA82 Engine Gasket Sets
Stared looking AKA E-Bay for engine gasket set I will be needing on my '91 Loyale. Not a whole lot of price difference for the most part 45-65 most sets.. Brands like Eristic and Misumo seem to be on there the most. Are these all on par with each other or is there some nasty stuff to stay away from.. I know OME is the best, and I haven't priced them yet, I was looking for some guideance. Aftermarket stuff or spend the $$ for OME.. Anyone know what Subaru gaskets sets run on that note.. Thanks

Loose Shift Gate
Thanks for the replies, I am in research mode here, big plan today is transfer the title. Most likely will get the wagon in the garage in few months to pull engine and new head gaskets.

Loose Shift Gate
Oh I just picked up '91 Loyale, 134K, Needs work yep but a fair price. One thing I haven't messed with before is the shift linkage, this one seems to have alot of play and movement in the "H" pattern, all gears are there but you can swing that shifter around in any gear like it is in the "Netrua" gate. Is there any normal springs/bushings that get broken, lost on the GL/Loyales? Thanks

ECL on and off
Thanks for the tip, I see there is a (2) wire lead going into it. May have to look at a replacement. Been happy with the Subie, one of the many cheap runners everyone seems to pick up. Bought 2 years ago, price + repairs + mods I have just over 800 into it. Put 30K on it and get 26-29 MPG

ECL on and off
Hi all, my 1988 GL TBI EA82 has the Check Engine light going on and off in the last month of so. Problem is now I need to run thru emissions. I pulled the code and got code 34. My manual says that is EGR stuck on on or off. I checked the EGR system and it tests good. EGR valve opens and closes as you rev and decel the engine. I tried to clear the ECU by hooking up the Clear Code connectors but now the ECL just stays on. The car seems to be running fine, a bit down on mileage, but that could be gas and weather. Is there any thoughts on the code 34 beside the one from my manual? Oh is it NOT a OME manual. The light seems to go out while cold and warming up, one at operating temp it comes on. Sometimes while warm it will go back off, but my drives are short, 8-15 mile drives. [/img]

Can you have rear WD only
Well, thanks for input. I just figured it would be fine. Wet rainy roads here in Lynnwood, light gravel logging road to hiking trail heads, + the one or two days of snow on the road we get a year. So I will sitck to 4 wheel drifts. I run some 14" rims but still small tires, 205/60 let'em spin:grin:

Can you have rear WD only
Got lost on the search results, but I thought I read in here about how you can remove the front axles and just run the rears? I have a 88 GL wagon, and think I would have more fun with a rear wheel drive car. It also has a 2" lift, but other then that it is stock. Anyone know if there is an issue with running no front axles?

Ethanol Free Gas!

88GL- heater blower moter stops/starts
thanks for the input, where is the heater relay located? I have replace the fan motor when I first got the car, it was an old nest for some varmint. So I am thinking the relay, now I just need to find it.

new to 4x4
Evans Creek, hit it up on Google and stay on the main roads. If you start up the ORV trail/roads you be stuck and broke down. But the main forest service roads still go for miles.

88 gl power problems
You didn't say when or for how long it has been lacking power? Since you changed the plugs and parts or just before. Did the loss of power happen all at once or over months of driving. How about mileage on the car, and any past upgrades or repairs. Off hand I am would like to know if you get any backfire through the throttle body? If so I am thinking a valve has started to leak and you are down on compression on one cylinder. Have you done a compression check? Just a few thoughts.

88GL- heater blower moter stops/starts
So the quick search didn't help much. What happens is when I start the wagon up the heater fan works on all speeds. If I drive it for 5 miles or 50, it works the whole time. The problem is when I drive it 3 or 5 or 10 or 30, then stop at a gas station or store and come back out to the wagon then the blower will not work on any speed. I drive home, park for 30+min and drive again and the fan blower works on all speeds again.. I have replace the speed switch with another on but it didn't change anything. Is there some other relay that could be messed up. Oh I did change out the coil resisitor in the heater core box and that didn't change anything either. Nope, I don't have any kind of manual, have been looking for an OME one, but haven't found one yet, any input for an aftermarket manual? Here is a 1.99 cup holder, just for fun..
