  1. Thank you for doing this, super helpful! You da man!
  2. So get a 90/91 intake wiring harness? Any chance I could re-pin the harness I have if I got the right connectors? where can I get just the Intake harness?
  3. This is what I had Scott Raper do: "I am sending you a wiring harness from a '90 legacy 2.2 going into a GL '87 with a '94 2.2 in it". I am not sure what year the donor engine/intake is
  4. Hello, I will give an abbreviated version of the long story to get where I am now. Basically I had an engine and Intake manifold, had the wiring harness sent off to get re-done for a 1986 GL. The intake manifold for the car got junked by accident. I bought an engine of a similar year for parts. Took the Intake Manifold off, put it on the installed engine. Everything bolted up, plugged in, except for when I went to plug in to the wiring harness. There were three plugs on the wiring harness end, but only two on the Intake Manifold. Was there a year that they changed the wiring? What is the third plug for? It looks like the two large square plug would go together but the plastic plug has different tracks. What are my options? Thanks for the help! -Jesse
  5. Pulled the wiring harness off a donor EJ22, took some other parts off. Sent the wiring harness of to SJR, hopefully get it back soon. I bought one of the members cars here where he put a ej22 into a 87' gl and then tried to Carb it. Tore off all the carb stuff.. Anyone need this setup? Weber Carb and Distributor, and other stuff??? Took off the Intake Manifold, looks like he drilled the intake with it mounted, worried about shavings in the engine! Took off Intake Manifold and pulled the Manifold off the Donor Car.. I wonder how much of a headache this is going to be once I get the Wiring harness back! Looking for some Peugot Wheels, Anyone know the Backspace off of them? Looking into getting some made... Bought the 2" lift made by The Beast I drive, looks well made and thought out! Cant Wait until I get this thing going!!!
  6. Has anyone purchased a set (4 or 5 wheels) from either of the mentioned companies? How much did it run you ? Thanks, Jesse
  7. I just picked up the project car of a member on here and am having it shipped here. ej22 into a GL '87. It runs, but there are bugs. I dont know what I am getting myself into! I will be rough trying to figure out what was done to it and what needs to be done. I also have a dented 1980's brat sitting in my yard that needs work. Too many projects! -Jesse
  8. So, about a few weeks ago I did a seal job on my 88' GL. Took out the AC pump and made a bracket. I now run one belt for all pumps and pulleys. (is this ok?). Upon starting up and driving it after the seal job here was a loud clacking from what we thought was a lifter. After driving it 30 miles the clacking went away completely. After 270 miles, and as my fuel gage showed low the clacking started randomly again. I thought that maybe there was some crud getting captured in the hydrolic lifter passage and it had just worked out. I did a oil change the other day to get out any crud from the seal job th inking this would help. The clacking is still there and changes pitch (high pitch to lower) even when I maintain a certain RPM (oil pressure should be the same and not be the cause of pitch change right?) I have heard that running a oil detergent can help. what is the likely hood that it is some crud getting caught in there or lifter issue? thanks for the help! -Jesse
  9. Did a seal job, timing belt, clutch, and lift. Still leaks oil. blah. The front wheels still have a inward camber despite the 15 degree block angle. Is this typical? Also took out the AC and put a bracket in where the AC pump used to be. I then ran one belt over all pullys instead of two. Will this work out alright and give enough pressure to turn the water pump well? Thanks to The Dude Abides for wheels! -JEsse
  10. I just purchased a 88' GL for 400 bucks. The lady says it goes through a lot of oil and you can readily smell it. It doesn smell like it is burning off of the exhaust because that is what my 92 loyale does. When you first start up you get a bit of smoke from the tail pipe. The undercarrige is soaked with oil. Since I payed so little I am going to take it to a friends and drop the engine. I wanted a list of To-dos while I have the engine out. This is what I have so far: Head Gasket (which is the right gasket I need to use again?) hah. oil pan gasket oil pump gasket timing belt, pulleys, ect clutch (what is a good company for the kit?) Water pump (maybe a 2 inch lift too) Should I do any other seals while the engine is easily accessable? Looks like I will be selling my 92' loyale asap to pay for the work needed on this thing. Thanks again for all the help~! -Jesse
  11. So I have a 92 Loyale that I have done some work on and gone through and replaced a lot of the sensors and did a tuneup. I am getting around 23 mpg and I am trying to drive efficiently. When I am at a lower RPM and floor it it will lug and will not ramp up in rpm until it is over 3000. When I turn my blinker on it makes the Voltage meter Tick. When I turn my heater on I hear belts squeeling and I notice a decrease in power ( as if the Air conditioner was on). Sometimes when I stop and turn of the car when the heater has been on I can hear a bubbling in the dash. I have checked for spark and some vacuum leaks. I have not done a pressure test on the fuel pump. I have been using good gas. I run 5w40 oil. Please help I want this thing to be rolling tip top! THanks, Jesse
  12. I have this same problem and I am getting only like 23 mpg a tank! Could this all be related to fuel pump? I have an extra fuel pump from my vanagon/subaru 2.2 conversion could I use that?
  13. Could I do this easily with me 92' Loyale? I am assuming that I would have to do the rear lift as there is not bolt to raise it under the seat? Thanks, Jesse
  14. What should the orientation be for the Thermostat. I tried to put it in as I found the old one, but the old one may have been in wrong. Power is OK. I will try to get a thermal gun and timing check. Thanks, Jesse
  15. My 92 Loyal was always in the lower 1/4 of the temperature gauge so I went and replaced the thermostat and temperature sensor thinking that would so the trick. It still does not get above 1/4 and the heater doesn't get very hot. Any ideas of where else to check? Also, this weekend I went on a little trip (about 300 miles) with my car pretty loaded down with three large guys and lots of camping gear. I was only getting about 24-25 mpg. Is this normal for this load situation? We also had a bit of freeway driving, speeds of about 75. Thanks Jesse
  16. Hello everyone. I was wondering if it is normal that when I am idling my oil pressure gauge is about slightly less than a quarter of the way up. When I accelerate and get going it moves steadily up to normal (50% of the way up). After the engine warms up the ide sits at about 500 and bounces probably 25 rpm. Related issues? Thanks,, Jesse
