  1. Thanks for the info GD, good to know! Thought I'd bring it up as hadn't come across mention of it elsewhere. Now I have a go-to spare for either vehicle. I saw your post elsewhere concerning crank seal install issues, will pose questions there, hope you'll comment.
  2. That's awful! 3x in a year! .......feel for ya Maybe fourth time's the charm? Good luck. Wondering what my DIY chances are, if techs are having issues.:-\ .......Guess I'll find out soon. GD, do you have any tips / techniques for cam / crank seal replacement you wish to share in addition to what I've been able to find trolling? Namely: Quality seals Pristine surfaces Light lube Correct depth Drive square I bought the eBay t-belt kit with the 4 cam and 1 crank seal(s) included. No half-assery, doing it all, including idlers, WP, cam and oil pump o-rings etc.. Any info, much appreciated!
  3. Thanks for your input 1997reduxe! Stopped by the dealership and had a look at the Subaru part. They matched an online dealer price, so I picked it up there along with the gasket. Compared to the Stant product, there are cosmetic differences, which may not have an impact upon functionality / performance. Peace of mind and all else considered, I believe the Subaru thermostat is worth the $8.00 above what I paid for the Stant product, and will be using same when installing the new pump. Cheers!
  4. Very nice! Did you find it in the desert? 'cause that's mighty clean for a MI Subie. Cheers!
  5. Maybe not the same Stant vendor? In the middle of a t-belt, pulleys, cam and crank seals, WP, oil pump and cam O-rings job myself, hoping to finish up soon. Then maybe it'll hold fluids!
  6. Thanks for the follow up 1 Lucky Texan, much appreciated! There is a dealership nearby. May wander over and have a look at one of theirs, before deciding if I should stick this one in.
  7. Hi all, just received the Stant "xactstat" 48457 from Amazon. Have concerns about using it because..."Made in Germany" is on the box, "78°C" is the only stamping I can find on it (no emblems), and only has two tabs that attach cage to the mounting plate instead of the four on my old one. Anyone else get one like this? Vendor switch? Advice? Hopefully thumbs for illustration show up. Thanks!
  8. Do you have Ethanol-free gas locally available? Ranges from .10¢ to .15¢ more per gallon than the "blended" where I'm at. Get a mild bump in MPG for my '96 OB, also seems to run better / quieter. With 220K on the clock, I'm for any little bit that helps!
  9. Seems so... but then recall seeing one of his past shows revealing the awesomeness of his Taurus SHO .......well..... ya just never know.
  10. +1 That...... along with the Conan fiasco to seal the deal.
  11. Good going.......happy for you.... and Gramps!
  12. Good times off road with Gramps, so cool! Hope you get the the rig squared away soon.
  13. What took so long? Used to love reading this thread, then.............. nothing!?!? Hopefully it'll get some traction and be fun to follow....... again! Cheers:drunk:
  14. Nice ride! $200.00! I'd go $200 for wrinkle / rust free fenders and a hood.
  15. Both rad hoses warm / hot? got flow? stat orientation? flush / refill / burp with heater operative?
  16. Thanks Shawn, what did you do with the early Impreza being parted out last year? Still have it?
  17. Hi all, is interchange correct for fenders and hood? All the same (Brighton, L, LS, LX, Outback) coupe, sedan and wagon? Thanks for the info!
