  1. That looks neat! My first impression was of him lying in the freezing cold under the truck doing a pencil rubbing of his tire tread... LOL! Please tell me you ran in some poster paint and rolled over the paper!
  2. Yippee! This will work! Todd, I'll shanghai all these guys for input! Let me start by saying that the live help available here on the USMB is invaluable, and could never-ever be rivalled. Another website dedicated to history, trivia, static information and to display owner's bragging rights/stories/pictures is worth the time and effort... it'll be great for the older Gens!
  3. I know what it means to have to have reliable transportation. It's a hands down, "keep it" decision for the guys/gals here... they can fix anything and wouldn't bat an eye about keeping it... the car is very young. It's a much tougher decision to make for someone that doesn't do the work themselves though. I would say keep it, but I know repairs are very expensive when you need to go to a garage, on the other hand, if you figure the cost of an occasional repair over a definite $300.-$400. monthly payment for a new one, could help you decide easier. If you're unsure of the overall condition, maybe one of the guys/gals here is close to you and can go "survey" the car for you. Good luck!
  4. Welcome to Mass. When you find one, let me know!
  5. Jesse, you can take a li'l ride on Skippy, we'll bring him along for ballast...
  6. Nah... no kiddie seat, but I don't want to "void" my warranty, so to speak... think they would consider it just "off-roading" which BTW is a major selling point for the Baja? I mean what is off-roading exactly? Tim's new F-350 boldly proclaims "4x4 Off-Road" on the decals. It's a BIG FAT question for the manufacturers.
  7. Paul, How "challenging" is Pine Barrens? I'm not sure I want to subject the Baja to "towed-out-of-mudholes" kind of roads... and I don't have room for another sube for that kind of play
  8. Thank God the body that holds her spirit and determination is still alive and well! Don't give up the ship kiddo!
  9. That's true! Short runs don't dry the water out. A 3.5 mile city commute is probably why mine never lasted very long... so if you do long runs it'll help a lot.
  10. I had to replace the entire one-piece exhaust system on my Brat when it was just over 2 years old (I was the second owner so it didn't fall under warranty). After that, every 5-6 years it would fail. It was always covered under warranty by Speedy Muffler. They told me it was porcelain coated and a very cheap stainless steel... it always rusted from the inside out. My GL-10 failed after 3 years, muffler fell of coming off a sharply curved highway exit ramp... went end-over-end under the car lifting the rear wheels right off the ground... scary stuff. I'm not sure if they changed the composition of them, but in the rust belt, I wouldn't expect too much. I've learned since to get frequent undercarriage washes
  11. ummm... Jess? She doesn't come here does she? Cuz oh-oh for you if she does! LOL! Think I could tow my Brat down with my Baja?
  12. Hey, hey, hey... there's nothing wrong with rednecks... we've got the only John Deere tractor in Salem
  13. Hi Connie, The stuff is called POR-15. http://www.itkillsrust.com Walmart also sells a spray that supposedly turns rust into black primer. Poor Bucky! Keep him aimed toward the sky!
  14. Is there a way I can turn down my Automate alarm's sensitivity myself without shlepping back to the dealer? It "complains" way too often, just the cooling of the car makes it do 5 rapid horn beeps. There is a "nuisance" sensor that stops it after it trips 3 times in an hour, but that seems to reset itself after a while. I'd like it to tell me if something's wrong, but even the wind makes it happen.
  15. I'm not Australian, but I'm pretty certain it's a Brumby
  16. Is it the "leading rod" that you're talking about? It goes from the control arm to the body and has some bushings on the end. The tech school lost the bushings for mine and I had a heck of a time trying to get new ones because no one had ever heard of it. I called Lithia Subaru and he knew exactly what it was and had them in stock, they're like around $8.00. I still have to get you pics of that sunroof so you can check on the gasket. The Hefty bag is keeping the seats dry for now.
  17. Where is Pine Barrens? Might be nice to someplace I've never been before.
  18. The Adirondacks are beautiful... drove through there in winter a few years back... the full moon cast over a little pond... gorgeous... works for me. The Corning area is nice too, into Northern PA lots of wanky roads there.
  19. Hey Paul... Bajas and Brats aren't snobby and live nice together ... if I sneak up quietly I can hear my two yackin' in Japanese. Since the Baja came, the Brat is running great, not even a hiccup... sibling rivalry?
  20. Paul... your wife must have the patience of a saint, I'd have shot you a long time ago!!
  21. Seems always to be the worst weekends...no go tomorrow... next Saturday is boss' company party. March is pretty open, would love to help out, I AM the packing QUEEN, but I crack a harsh whip, so have a remnant of a plan! How quick is quick Paul?
