  1. DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC IN A CAR WITH 150,000 MILES! When my mom got my old 91L from my dad, at 176k miles, she took it to jiffy lube for a synthetic oil change. This is the engine that my dad beat the hell out of for 10 years, but took care of, NO OIL LEAKS. Within the first 2,000 miles, oil started leaking. After about 20k miles(full dino juice after the single syn change), ever possible gasket on that engine was leaking oil. Synthetic oil has additives in it that dont break down, unlike the ones in dino oil. Using non-synthetic oil for so long creates a varnish on seals in your engine, keeping oil from getting to them, and keeping them conditioned. When you throw synthetic in there, it's additives wear away at the varnishes, doing their job, and eventually make their way to the dry, cracked, shrunken gaskets and whatnot, and start a leak. After another 20-25k of natual oil, the engine pretty much stopped leaking oil, but I dont think it will ever completely quit. I usually use castrol GTX or valvoline high mileage with a napa gold filter just my $.02
  2. 99.99999999999% of the ej22's are non-interference engines. though there is that .00000000001% chance that something could go wrong, but it's not likely
  3. I use the purple meguires, it smells like grapes and rocks. So long as you stay away from your tread, and hit your tires with a degreaser(dish soap, car wash, or windex) before a track day, you should be fine. I actually like autocrossing with tire gel on, keeps me on my toes.
  4. Touring wagon refers only to the turboed ones. but it's cool. Yours is more rare. I've never seen a GT in person before. if you need stock parts but cant find any, i'm more than willing to pick up a few from carter(they've got all sorts of crazy old stuff) and ship them over for you
  5. bremerton motorsports park, if you're interested in going, and want to drive down, we can meet up with you somewhere, but it starts very early in the morning
  6. i'm sorry to hear of a touring wagon having problems. I couldnt imagine how i'd feel if that happened. and you're using your turbo on a daily basis. ej22t's build up to max boost at 2800 rpms, it's nearly impossible to drive without going to at least 2500. You could probably pick up a used wrx turbo for pretty cheap. I'd imagine you wouldnt have the low end, but up high you would, if wanted, be capable of producing more boost. I'd also imagine that running the car until the timing belt died wouldnt be a huge concern, as most subaru engines are non-interference, including the ej22s. also, the reason for the smoke could be oil dripping somewhere, getting hot on the turbo, and then coming out of the chimney... perhaps give your engine a good cleaning drive it for a couple days, and see if there's any new oil
  7. that's why my AGX's, whitelines, and new brake pads/rotors came before I do any engine mods.
  8. Come autocrossing on sunday morning! It's just like rallycrossing, except on pavement! www.wwscc.org Preregister and save $5
  9. Well, my 1992 Legacy was running spectacularly, until I moved out. Within a week of moving into my new apartment, and away from spare cars, my brake pads finally quit. Had to wait a whole week for new pads to come in, got those and new front rotors installed, that cost me just over $200, when I took off my wheel to do the brakes, i found that my CV joint had exploded, and needed replacing, well, when one dies, the other's not far behind. 2 new cv joints and another $200 later, my car seems very happy. I'll be spending all of my extra money this next year replacing everything that is likely to die in the next few years, so I dont have unexpected expenses while going to a real college, and not working as much as I am while attending comm. college. Yes, it sucks spending lots of money on your car to replace things that you feel should keep working, but it beats the hell out of a car payment, and you know that you wont have a problem with that particular thing for a very long time. Next to go is my battery.
  10. my 2nd cd did not work, but the first one had amazing shots
  11. that's okay, i dont remember barely anyone's names either. I actually asked the same person like, 5 times where they lived(which happened to be about 10 minutes from my place of residence) (sorry jay)
  12. i think they were referring to that smokin blonde in your passenger seat.
  13. Here's mine, though Brian put them all up on usmb after I uploaded them. well, all except one. http://69.73.145.197/laurel/August,%2004/WCSS6/
  14. i'll be there saturday early afternoon, as I cant afford to take friday off of work, and my mom wants me to stay with her in Olympia on friday night.
  15. in my 91 I was pulling about 26 mpg mixture of freeway and city driving, and that was on the upper end of the scale of what people off legacycentral were getting
  16. My understanding of a SNORKUSECTOMY (which was performed on my T-leg on sunday) is removing the fender liner, and pulling the ginormous plastic tank that sits in there for the purpose of sound deadening. Removing my snorkus made my stock exhaust sound beastly, made my turbo louder, and made my blow off valve audible. Also, it could just be in my head, but it seems the car pulls more above 80, but i've only had it past 80 like 4 times since i bought it.
  17. Not when you have a delivery job and are allowed to take a lunch whenever you want, as long as it's enroute, and you have a delivery on the very street your apartment is located. I've never met you. That would include Brian and Austin, and I dont know austin very well at all, and have never met brian either. I guess i really dont know anyone. lol
  18. I'm pumped for it, but know a total of 2 people that are going to be there...
