  1. thanks for the info i will look into that. i think my battery is good it came out of my legacy and it worked fine then. i am defiantly going to replace my alternator i will grab an external voltage regulator while i'm at it also.
  2. my rotors have never had any problems at all they have been on for a few months and have had no problems stopping, but mine had very little oil on them
  3. nice looking brat
  4. well if the rotors had been dripping oil i would have cleaned them, but there was so little oil on mine i didn't even mess with it and i think your ego is ahead of you there gd as soon as i put the brakes on i did a test drive and had no problem i had exceptionally good braking power i was able to lock my wheels up doing 30 so i think it worked just fine
  5. i never thought about that, but i have done that several times on larger rads and it works well. i never even tried it on my gl when i replaced the radiator.
  6. thats cool i have never seen an older subie like that with cruise
  7. the only way to tell for sure wether your rad is clogged or not is to get a temp gun and shoot it at the channles and chek the temps that will tell you wich ones are clogged
  8. i put a set of ceramics and rotors on from oriely and didn't clean the rotors and i never had any problems
  9. according to rockauto.com they should be right, all the small pick-ups i have worked on have this style shock. in fact i have never seen any 80's subarus with anything other than this style shock either.
  10. i said that at the begging of the post lol i always suggest that at first. i have been thinking about it my moms subie at one point only the high beams would work and we couldn't figure it out and we took it to a electrical guy and he told us the alternator was bad he put a new alternator in and all of the sudden the low beams started working again i don't know what caused that but that is another thing to consider
  11. my local lock smith always asks for a passenger side door lock for my subies. i have had keys made like this before if they can't read the number they can still make a key that will fit.
  12. that does look like a trans shifter wtf?
  13. if i blew a power the lights wouldn't turn on at all. i was thinking more along the lines of a shorted out ground somewhere, at least for the park break light. i am not sure how the stop lamp lights work and what could cause them to malfunction. i am going to replace my alternator and see if that changes anything
  14. i think your right i took a multi meter and turned it to ac volts and i am getting 45 ac volts at the battery. next stop new used alternator.
  15. cool glad you found your problem. i had the same problem in my gl i haven't done this yet, but i saw a thread that said you can hook up a straight positive to your fuel pump and use your oil sending unit for the negative so the pump will only run when the engine is running. that is way cheaper than the fuel pump relay they want alot for those. right now i have a toggle switch on mine
  16. edit: so when you turn on your lights your head lights don't turn on, but do they turn on when you put them on normal brights (pushed forward). if not i would say it is the switch
  17. are you sure its not just your bulbs? i would check power where the bulb plugs in with a multi-meter and see if you have power one connector is high beam, one is low beam, and one is ground. or you could plug in a known good bulb and see if that works
  18. all cars are like this
  19. if you dont jam it in and turn it hard it won't break anything gentle wiggling wont hurt anything. i once accidentally put my legacy key in my gl and it fit but it wouldn't turn and it didn't hurt anything.
  20. run a hot wire to the hot side of your coil and use your remote starter, diy hot-wiring and when you want to shut it off take the hot wire off the coil
  21. ^what they said, if you are patient some of the pros will help you out.
