Legacy top hats on 80 gl struts?
The reason I want to so this is because the bearings in the strut tops are worn out and I can't find the right ones and after doing a set of struts on a 90 legacy I was thinking it might work to replace the top hats on my old subie with that style wich are plentiful around here other than the obvious problems of three holes Into a two hole slot (wich I can do I'm fairly sure) I just want to know weather the top hats will work with the rest of the strut assembly

O.C.D.'s 1980 Brat - "The Squirrel"
I'm not sure what you asking but will take a shot. The temp sensor for the fan on the Gl interrupts the ground until it heats up and then grounds through the radiator. Since the radiator is not directly bolted to the body you need the grounding strap to the body connected so your fans will work. I am not sure if this is the Info you are looking for. Hope this helps

Legacy top hats on 80 gl struts?
I have already tried rock auto for strut top hats they didn't work at all and if you read my original post you would see I didn't ask about mounting to body I already have a way to reinforce the body to take the three hole strut tops

Legacy top hats on 80 gl struts?
After Trying and failing to find the corect top hats for my gl and still having steering issues I was thinking would it be possible to put early legacy style top hats and bearings onto a 80 gl strut assembly? I think I can figure out a way of mounting it to body. Any ideas would be a appreciated

exhaust resonator delete
mikaleda replied to chris98impreza's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am not a professional but I know from expeiance that nine out of ten times modifying a stock exaust system on a stock engine isn't going to help much if at all. The only way I could see this giving better performance would be if there were other modifications to the engine all ready. It might make it sound cooler though

If your brat is the same as my wagon it has fusible links. Check for corrosion

Check for corrosion on battery terminals and or battery cables. I have had this happen before ended up. Being corrosion in the middle of the battery cable

1990 Legacy -- jumping idle
mikaleda replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPersonally I wouldn't use one of those universal oxygen sensors. I tried that once and it didn't work at all.

Morning bog down.. rpm issues
The tbi systems I am familiar with (Chevy) there is no choke. With the system I am familiar with when the ecu temp sensor is cold it ups the amount of fuel. The two things I check when having a hi idle problem is map sensor and coolant temp sensor. That is just my experience with the throttle body's I have messed with I have to say I haven't messed with any tbi subarus but I would think they are similar.

carburetor experts?
I'm not an expert but it sounds to me like the screw you were messing with is the idle air valve. To adjust that you warm engine up till choke is open and tighten until the engine stalls and then back off a quarter turn. At least that is how I do it.

Could I use this push button start?
On an 84 I personally would go to the hardware store and get a simple push button switch they don't cost a lot and are fairly simple to instal, your switch is low voltage anyway it doesn't take a lot of juice to engage your cylinoid

Is there a slot in flywheel?
mikaleda replied to mikec03's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't know about new gen but have done this in an old gen subie and there is a hole in the flywheel. Defiantly don't put it in the teeth, bad idea

Heater Runs Hot At First Then Lukewarm?
Sounds like a clogged heater core to me you can back flush your heater core by reversing your heater lines and running youre engIne than switch it back. When your done you probably want to flush your system to keep it from clogging up again
