2009 Impreza quite clunk noise from back of car when first moving forward

Is it an AT or MT. IIRC my loaner car when mine was in for a couple days ( dealer accidentally crushed a rocker..but took car of everything) was an AT and I think it did the same thing. Check on NASIOC...there is more info there on the new ones.

ea-81 front control arms ?
I am sitting here looking at my dealer 83 parts catalog.... and front control arms have the exact same part number between FWD and 4WD.. and as for axles etc.. I have used 4WD front end parts plenty of times on my FWD Loyale and know people who have done the opp used FWD parts on their 4WDs.

1995 Legacy buy or not?
Bucky92 replied to thegyrations's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI picked up my 95 Lego wagon for $250 with a bad tranny.. had 182K on it... dropped a new tranny in and I drive it almost every day. Just did the timing belt a couple weekends ago..and if it wouldnt have had a stripped bolt....it would have been finished in about 2 hours. Havent driven it in the snow yet but a friend of mine swares by them ( I have used my 08 Impreza now for 2 winters and its unstoppable.) Doors can be had for them easily if you want to take a road trip to PA to Harrys U Pull it.. could probably even get it in the correct color. $35 The EJ22 is such an easy motor to work on and learn on too.

83 Coupe Love ..Restore Progress ( Pics page 2)
Here is who I will be using...there are a couple pics. http://www.austinsautoworks.com I have talked to him and he understands my feelings about the car and what I want from the finished job. He also knows I am doing much of the prep work myself. His quote does include repairing some of the minor body work, painting the door jams and engine compartment and underside of trunk. He will be getting the car as a rolling chassis, stripped of all trim etc. I will be sending the seats out to be refoamed and upholstered also.

I am now totally buhhh-roke!
This is my husbands second one..bought the first one in 85 brand new...drove it until the bed fell off in 2001 when he bought his current one. His is the 3.4 ltr V6 extended cab 4x4 5 spd.... 260K miles ..runs fantastic , still on his original clutch. ( I changed his timing belt last year along with water pump etc) and he just put new heavier duty leaf springs in it. But he could really use something bigger. He is a Carpenter doing high end stuff (for Celebrities etc. ) and most of the time his truck is too small. I have known a few people with the early T100s and they proved to be a good truck also. Toyota definately makes one of the best trucks...but I am understanding the Nissans are going really good also.

You get what you pay for... plus this is going to be a custom paint job ( I am not telling what I am having done...but it will be subtle). I want it done right... the plans for this car are not just subaru shows...but all car shows...which we have many here. I dont want some school kids with no clue touching it...I have heard and seen what they can do...and its not good...just ask Seahag about her experience. I was will to spend the $10K I was quoted from the restorer..but I found someone highly recommended and who does just as good if not better work. has quite a few trophy winners under his belt. I know I am being anal and a perfectionist..but ..you dont realize how rare this car is over here... the last one I have seen on the road...was my 82 GLF... 4 or so years ago. I wish I could do my restore to the extent of Kostamojen's FF-1...but I dont have the knowledge or money to do that. So I am doing the best I can with what I have.

Removing Struts EA82 (How)
remove the tie rod end from the hub..it will allow it to swing and give you room to get the axle out...and its easier then the ball joint. I just did this to my Lego.

My fleet of JNC's
I had an Accord almost exactly like yours..except it was an 81 and blue... what an awesome car it was 550K miles and still ran like a champ. I am partial to vintage import over the American Muscle anymore..rarity factor probably. I was within inches of trading my 83 Subaru coupe for a TR7 not to long ago. Those pics make me miss some of my oldies...my B210 wagon..and my Karman Ghia and my 82 Prelude

Nice!!!.. I would really like my husband to step up into one of those...his Tacoma is just too small..and the new Tundras get the same gas mileage as his 6cyl Tacoma. We were going to let Toyota have his truck due to the recall...but cant get enough for it to buy another truck outside of the recall years :-\ And cant afford another car payment. I am curious , the more you drive that, your opinions on it.I havent heard one bad thing about the Tundra yet. Gas Mileage etc.

Thanks...got a long way to go yet.. have to turn the car around soon to get the other side. Everything gets cleaned and assessed as its pulled apart..as replace repaint or leave it as it. With the exception of the rear bumper...nothing has been bad at all. the bumper damage was caused by loosing a tail pipe or something..my new set up I have actually extended the tail pipe to go beyond the bumper. I am doing this because I dont want anything to come back and haunt me a year or 2 down the road. spending $5K on a paint job and I dont want to have to redo it

Removing Struts EA82 (How)
Its not impossible...because others have done it. needs a second person to "step" on the lower control arm...thier wieght will get it low enough to at least line up one hole. Then a trusty pry bar to line up the other. ( but one of the bolts in but loose until the second one is in. Getting the hub off you may be asking for more trouble...those ball joints dont always like to cooperate. BTW..you did remove the tie rod from the hub?? it will allow the hub to turn and swing a little
