LUVMYBRAT replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if reality strikes with low oil pressure, I'm talkin if I fix everthing else and the pressure doesn't change, what are the consequences? I'm planning on doin the marvel mystery oil treatment to see if that helps any. -
low oil pressure = new gaskets?
LUVMYBRAT replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
at idle it can be as low as 5-10 and when at full throttle or even half it has never benn much over 30-40, only time its looks good is on cold start up -
What are some of the ways every one has done to cure the ever present exhaust leak so prone to subes, mine an 85 brat non turbo, 3 sets of gaskets, I'm tired of buyin them:banghead:
-
I didn't do a search but will putting new oil pump installation gasket set help with low oil pressure seeing how it leaks alot there?

4-link setup, how does it work?
LUVMYBRAT replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Caboo are you taking chassis fab after your core program? if you are then you'll be able to get all your answers there. I've seen a few done already, there was a kid, I say kid because he was only 17, he took a older ranger, put a 4-link with air bags placed midway with the axis point almost at the center and 2-1/2 ton rockwells gave him over 36 in. of adjustable travel. there alot you can do with a welder and the right calculations. -
what about this one? my car is a turbo and 4x4, were there any of those that were anolog that would have complete harnesses? all the 84 4x4 t-coupes I've seen only had digidashes. So swapping entire asembly may not be possible.
-
to what extent did you modify the harness? or did you basically swap entire harnesses, and how much of that did you need?

Sooooooo............ Do you want to sell or trade for something?
-
I noticed in your post the wording "spare weber", do you think you can spare a weber? Anything you would possibly want to trade for?

whats a new axle cost? I'd probably do good to do both even tho only one is bad. My only problem is $$ I'm short on it and I at least need to temp fix one for now, I have access to others but boots are shot on those too.
-
So my one axle on passenger side is going bad the boot tore and is throwing grease everywhere. How hard is it to put a boot kit in?

Vacumectomy with a little issue?
LUVMYBRAT replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
bump, before it hits page 2 and is overlooked :-\ -
the d/r tranny is a pretty complicated unit, I would look for a new one. I had the same issue with mine. If you weren't so far away I'd sell you one of mine, or you could do a 5spd d/r swap perfect time for it, especially if yours is lifted. I also have some of those too.Anyway I'd say new tranny time, faster easier fix, shop around there may be more guys with trannys closer to you on the board that would sell for less I'm sure.

Coping with a Subaru Addict
LUVMYBRAT replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
where I work I have access to multiple cars and many parts, with no room to store at home and really no need for them, I just want them because their suby parts:banghead: . I can go back and find any car, gen1 or gen2 anyways, that I've driven past in the last year. I dream of winning lottery and spend the money on fixing subes:rolleyes:. -
Well I did a bit of vacume line liposuction to the brat to get a little more juice from the the old 1.8. Everything went pretty good, I've have a few questions I need answered. What to do with EGR valve? do you block line off? take off unit entirely? or leave vac hooked up to it? and then it seems to have created a problem, car runs and idles real good, I left disty advance hooked up, and brake booster, and one other I think. Anyways I have about a 45 mile commute and after getting into town and stoping somewhere, when I go to restart it reacts as if it were flooded or something like that. I have to put pedal to floor and crank for long time before it fires, and when it fires it reacts as if it was flooded meaning it takes a bit to build up RPMs, rus a little rough for a bit then its fine til I stop somewhere again. Once its cooled down or sat for a while its fine, starts right up. Any advise would be helpful, and to make sure all info is here its the hicrappy with the secondary mod done to it(remove vac and wire secondary to make mechanical). Oh yea and what about the line to those little vac thingys on the choke unit?

Thats a nice church, our daughters went to CCE when we lived in S.F. The church my sis in law goes to is Churh of the Harvest on Bahnson just off of east 10th street. Anyways..
