  1. If the old bolts were used they could of stretched enough to do this
  2. If you do decide to clean it get a can of Mass air flow cleaner and follow the directions on the can
  3. Not prepping the heads or block deck properly...too much warpage on the heads or block...or not torqued properly with the original bolts
  4. Or since it has been ran without an air filter it could be a bad or dirty Mass air flow sensor
  5. If I am correct wasn't there an issue with the shift fork that moves the through-out bearing?
  6. msmithmmx I think I remember doing something like that at some point of time with my 01' legy, but not sure
  7. http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/ Does anyone one have any experience with this chip^^^^ or ever heard anything about them? Or does anyone know of a good tuner chip for my 1998 Impreza?
  8. Fan relays and fan fuses should be under the hood on the left hand of the engine compartment in a block box...coolant temp sensor is on the top right rear of the engine almost under the intake manifold....but check for bad head gaskets as stated above by grossgary
  9. did you get a "good" coil pack, like an OEM one or Beck Arnley one?
  10. is it vacuum controlled?...if so check the vacuum hose going to it
  11. My mistake...saying left side like if looking at it from the front of the car....or the doughnut seal behind the second cat
  12. There is a dipstick with a yellow top on it on the left side of the tranny/front diff..that is the dip stick for the front diff...it is some what of a pain in the a** to find
  13. What do you mean by rated? To some extent rubber hose is rubber hose, unless you are talking about fuel injection hose or tranny cooler hose
  14. Misalignment does not cause a vibration or shaking issue...usually tire balancing...try taking it to another shop and have them balance it, that first shop's balance could be un-calibrated... but with the hot to the touch issue you are getting some friction some wheres...brakes possibly?
  15. Both of my 2001 Legacy's with the 2.5 and my 98' Impreza has the screw in style into the intake manifold
  16. Thanks for the write up about it, tried it though and the locks never cycled...I have to look into it a little bit more and chase some wires to see just where the power is coming from for the alarm system..Any Ideas on where they are usually spliced into at? It is an OEM Subaru key-less entry system probably installed by a dealer, not 100% sure though
  17. Thanks, I'll have to give it a try...Yeah Oregon is a bit of a trek to New York, lol
  18. Has anyone on hear done any work with the Subaru key less entry systems? I bought a 98' Impreza awhile back and it came with a key fob, but didn't work.. put a new battery in the key fob still nothing, looked under the dash to make sure everything was hooked up, all checked out okay... Never messed around with any of these but would like to get it working again, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!....another thing my 01 legacy had the same thing and when I locked the doors manually and shut it it would do the "beep" sound, My Impreza does not though...Don't know if that helps any....and It is a Subaru OEM dealer installed key less entry system
  19. check your radiator cap? is your coolant overflow jug filling up? if so your cooling system is not building pressure...for every 1 PSI your system has that lowers the boiling point by 3 degrees F. so a 14 PSI cap opening at 3 PSI is only lowering the boiling point by 9 degrees F instead of 42 degrees F
