  1. custom home made 2 inch lift. i spaced my engine x member and my tranny x member and the radius rod bracket down 1.5 inches so my axles are only a half inch off stock angle on it right now are 195 75 r14 but in the winter i run 27 x 8.5 r14 general grabbers . i have two full sets of pugs so thats what i havee been running but i just picked up a set of toyota 6 lug rims and going to be drilling them out and filling in extra holes and re painting. and i built the front bumper and got all the lights off craigslist for under 200 bucks. all were new in box
  2. oh and it might have gotten a bit hot before i blew it. keep th ea 82's cool and they last long time hah
  3. reason for the beefed up bar was i twisted mine i think from trying to slide around in 4wd on the pavment just after it rained .
  4. so i got my lsd swap done and installed it in my car. now i just need to find the axle pins i took out of the right rear axle... sucks working on a gravle driveway on a hill ......Thought i would also take a picture of the reinforced mustach bar i made. i took two and cut the ends off one welded them together. drilled some holes in the center all the way down it and welded those parts together also. actually managed to get the piece of metal that wraps over the bolts and top of the diff back on . painted and installed
  5. so i resuced my 92 loyale from a forest in Estacada OR . it had been sitting for two years and was about to go to the crusher untill i drove to work one day and the owner heard my old subaru clicking from a few blocks away. when i pulled up he told me his ticked louder than that . then asked if i wanted to buy it for 200 . so after work i went to his house and picked it up. sadly it had a bad blown head gasket but was still drivable . at least on to the trailer. both head lights where cracked and filled also and this is her now
  6. i assume i blew the head gaskets multipule times because i have huge tires on the car and i would drive it very hard hah. but yeah the picuters where my grill is gone is because i was painting it black and just left it off untill i installed the KC spot lights. also i was pulling the engine that night installing that bumper i made and the piaa fogs so i just left the grill off a week or so. to make sure panit cured fully
  7. yeah your apologe is accepted man hah. i just suck at computers . thanks for understanding . so i got the new o rings and seals from subaru last week so this morning i got to grinding and i got it to work out very well in my opinion. it looks just like the the 3.7 case that the LSD came out of. first test fit and it fit in perfect . got it all back together and back in my car . bad news is i have no tranny or engine in that car so i will have to wait to find out if i did it right. im positive i did though just need to see it to belive it hah. thanks for the help subruise and baccaruda much apprecaited
  8. just take off the cover and look to see if its open or not
  9. thanks Alot for the help . i didint want to get in to it cause i am not good with computers or typing but what i ment in the beggining was i had no luck searching before i have tried many times . i may be posting photos though if i cant get this figured out . thanks again
  10. so i finally got off work long enough to work on my car but when i went to install the lsd center chunk with the 3.9 ring gear on it into my stock 3.9 housing it would not fit . so i looked and the two housinds are different . i thought it was suppose to go into the 3.9 housing without grinding or anything . anyone no what my problem is? Thanks
  11. nice subaru i dont see many lifted legacys like that
  12. so i tore apart my stock 3.9 diff this morning and removed the insides . i had to take one of the ring gear bolts off to be able to take out the gears of the housing. i used a 1/4 inch 8mm deep socket to take off the axle stubs but when i got to the LSD diff the axle stubs would not come off. so noe im trying to fing the correct tool which is a external torx socket . only problem with finding that is i need a deep one. none of the sockets i have found have been able to fit inside to actually reach the bolt. any suggestions on where to find the right tool?? also stopped by lithia subaru and picked up my seals o rings and gasket for my diff. still waiting to find a cheep legacy to buy for the swap also
  13. also the cross member blocks are not in that picture
  14. sorry those markings arent as clear as i thought haha . the smaller ones are in the center (on the first picture)
  15. well it is just my opinion but yeah it ruined my general grabers very very quickly just on the front two. i just know that when my car was flexing the axles would touch the engine cross member also when i would go through huge mud pits or anything to quickly i would tear the boots. i just found this to be way more effective and very simple way to fix it. i could be wrong though. any ways here is the picture i have of the radius rod spacers. 1.5 inchs tall by 1.75 inches O.D and 1/8 inch wall thickness. The pieces marked 1 are for the furthest back on the radius rod brackets. so not the bolt that holds the tranny x member up and not the closest to the front of the car. hope that makes sense. those spacers are a tiny bit smaller in th O.D like by a 1/8 of a inch at most i just dont have those measurments. the ones marked 2 are for the rest of the tranny x member and Radius rod. the rest of photos are it installed if i were to do it again though i would make only two of them (the ones for the tranny x member ) the dimensions i gave you and make the othe four the size that is just a bit smaller around.
  16. now its time for the EJ swap D/R tranny and LSD diff
  17. i have my desanation cooper tires on i this picture not my generals
  18. so i got this car about the end of last summer. it had about 125000 miles on it. this is how i bought it . blown HG and everything so i took engine out and resealed the whole thing got a new oil pump water pump timing belts resurfaced heads and replaced almost everthig else including the lifters but after adding a lift bigger tires and a whole winter of redlining i blew the headgasket. . . again. here are some pictures of my car before i blew it
  19. i would say its more than nessasarry to have the x member spacer. without it your axles WILL hit you xmember right above the inner control arm mounts. i had the same lift. also with out x member spacer your car will lift up when driving and your tires and handling will be garbage . . . just my opinion but i would do what i did. make 1.5 inch spacers for the engine x member and extend steering shft 1 inch and make 6 total round spacers for radious rod mounting bracket and the tranny x member. you will need all longer bolts also. also when installing rear lift make sure to turn strut and spring assembly around 180 degrees and mount it up like that. i wouldnt even put the lift on and drive on it till engine and tranny and radius rods are dropped. i went through about 10 axles total within like 2 months befor i made the rest of the lift and now i haven't broken a single one and i have put over 10000 miles on it. also lifted another loyale and sold it with same lift and the buyer has yet to have any problems with it. i can post pictures and dimensions of lift spacers if you need them
  20. perfect. thats exactly what i wanted to know. thanks alot. so does anyone have any idea about the torque specs for the diff and all the parts in it. or do i just make sure they are tight enough ha.
  21. so what tranny did the turbo cars come with. i thought they had dual ranges . i know some have the automatic but wasnt sure about all of them. so i NEED to change ring gear and other parts to make this hook up and work on my 88 D/R tranny?
  22. haha i have done lots too my subaru and all myself. only with the help of people who live around me and this forum. i was more curious about what tranny can you hook the stock lsd to without any mods. i dont mind tearing the diffs apart i have at least three. i also was wondering about torque spec's for the diff .
  23. oh well thanks for all the great help hah..
  24. and i was told i could just use the 3.7 by a few other reliable sorces. do i need to use original 3.9 housing
