Sticky valves,frozen rings,I would put a tablespoon of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder and let set for one week and new pcv valve.

Maybe dirt holding valve open a little,when doing leak down test try tapping valve stem to blow it out.

I recall Emily from CCR saying hard to order parts for because of different configurations.

Throw out bearing fork crack?

Possible broken rings or bent rod,check to see how high piston comes up.

Also,I am running 97 2.2 with 5-speed Manuel trans could not be happier.

Older 2.2 easy to work on,worth its weight in gold.

Also see if green test connecters under dash are plugged in.

I am thinking ignition switch,maybe pull cover off and see hot it is.

I would service pcv valve system and pull timing cover on that side for oil build up.

On the first pic where it is shinny and clean is can seal and dip stick tube ,I think that is the leak. Maybe from pressure build up from bad pcv valve,how old is pcv valve?

What years would maf be the same?

Should he pull the oil pump and check for loose screws?
