Fender side marker lens
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo not the side headlight assembly. The little side marker lights that are towards the rear of the front fender, closer to the front of the front doors. Looks like I have to get at the rear of it through the inner fender.

Fender side marker lens
Ok how the heck does the side marker lens come out? The ones on the front fenders? The car is a 97 Impreza obs. Do I have to remove the front wheel plastic splash guard? Removal procedure is not in my manual and I cannot find it online.

EJ22 to EJ25 ECU swap causes P0441 CEL -
Aluxes replied to wtdash's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIm running a 97 2.5 Legacy ECU in my 97 OBS 2.2. I also get a check engine light, but I thought it was from the 2.5 having an EGR and the 2.2 manual does not. It runs great though, no problems. Have had it installed for close to a year.

Stock roof rack weight limit?
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX100 pounds? Wow, I thought it might be a little more than that. Well guess I should get an owners manual! Thanks for the answer though!

Headlight harness upgrade
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell finally got to the bottom of the problem with no hi-beams. After going through everything with a volt meter, turns out that the Painless Performance harness had a bad connection inside one of the relay plugs. Had to pull it apart, but when I did it was no attached and the wire was clamped down so tight that is just cut right right through it. Im gonna call them back tomorrow!

information sources conflicting
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAs stated in the first post, my engine is a 97 2.2 N/A. I got it figured out though. The manual must be a misprint. Pretty positive the bore is 96.9.

Headlight harness upgrade
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOk so got the Painless Performance harness installed on the 97 OBS. Not so painless after all!! First the harness plug wouldnt connect into my headlight pug. Had to cut the top half off to make it fit. Second i couldnt unplug the headlight connectors after connecting to the bulbs. IDK what the hell kind of super plug Painless uses but once you put it on good luck taking it back off!! Ripped the back completely off one bulb trying to unplug it. Chewed up both new plugs pretty good trying to pry them off with a screwdriver. Third!!!! When I did the first test both hi and low beams worked. Cut the power and ground to length and reconnected but now only low beams. Maybe the relay? IDK. The lows are brighter than before, but that doesnt really help without hi beams. Any ideas out there?

information sources conflicting
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt is the Subaru Impreza 97-98 Manual. It doesnt seem correct. Maybe a misprint?
-
information sources conflicting
I have the online manuals for the Impreza and in the specifications section it lists the 2.2 NA engine as having 92mm bore, but the wiki EJ engine page lists it as a 96.9 bore. So what is it exactly? MY engine I have is a 97.

Headlight harness upgrade
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI dont think that would make a difference on my glass lens, lol! This is the second plug that has melted within 8 months or so. Anyways thanks for the reply's, but I found a Painless Performance upgrade that should work. The headlight plug doesnt fit but I can just cut it and wire it in. This is supposed to increase the voltage to the bulbs and brighten them up a bit, or I can at least run higher wattage bulbs.

Headlight harness upgrade
Aluxes replied to Aluxes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI just want to upgrade the wiring to the headlights because they are dim and the passenger side plug keeps melting. A friend told me there was a harness upgrade write-up on a forum, but I have not found it. Apparently Painless performance makes, or made a harness but I cant find it on their website.

Headlight harness upgrade

Ej20 T runs on 3 syl. About to sell this crap!
Aluxes replied to Subimp91's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIs that "bad" cylinder even getting spark? Check you wiring going into the coil. Once mine had a short, running on two cylinders, thought it was bad coil and replaced but still didnt work. Checked the wiring and there was a short. Fixed it and its been fine.

Front suspension maintenance/upgrade
Im replacing the old worn stock struts, 97 Imp OBS, with BC coilovers. Im wondering what else, suspension wise I should change while in there? Ive already upgraded to 22mm swaybars and whitline endlinks so those bushings are good. Just not much of a suspension guy, so need a little advice. I think, a while back, Subaru dealer may have told me I needed to replace tie rods, or maybe it was ball joint. Dont remember though.

The Unofficial "How to Lift your Impreza" Thread
Im cool with that. I dont really do off roading in my OBS. Just some dirt roads into my property where a bit more clearance is nice. As for on road, I do a lot of freeway miles to gigs and such. I love my 22mm sway bars so stiffer springs will just add to my joy of driving. Just hope my new tires fit in the wells! Thanks for the info!

The Unofficial "How to Lift your Impreza" Thread
It wouldn't perform well off road, or on road?

The Unofficial "How to Lift your Impreza" Thread
Just curious, has anyone tried a set-up with coilovers and taller tires instead of struts? Coilovers have a smaller diameter spring and no spring perch. For example I have a 97 Imp OBS. If I installed coilovers, could I run taller tires than 205/60/15, which is what I have now. Im thinking 205/70/15 for winter tires and 215/55/17 for the summer. IDK just a different thought on the ability to run taller tires.
