  1. As Ken Said, Thanks for the Kudo's..... We really wanted to do the Little Sluice, but faced with a short supply on parts, We made the decision to bail , before all your Yota groups started piling in..... I am Going to attemp building a set of doors like you had ......I loved the Can Holder idea... I for one will Definately be back in a year or 2 for sure....... As I said in person, that trip was the first time the BEAST, had been on a trail since installing the 2.2 , Auto , and 12in. lift..... So there was much to be learned about its capabilities as a trail ride again......And it only really had one weak link, which I knew before hand, but hadn't had time to correct..... I will e-mail you if your Profile has it, or feel free to e-mail me directly, as I would like to stay in contact.... Later for now, John in Oregon...... Owner of the BEAST 12inches of Lift.... nuff said...
  2. Check out my site at http://www.oregonoffroadsubaruclub.org I am in Eugene, Oregon.... About 2 hrs South of Portland When you go to the site, Look at the BEAST page.....I built everything not stock on the car........ later, John in Oregon.....
  3. Hey , the main reason Kenedy says EA series trannies wont handle the hp.....is most of their applications go into buggies where the driver is all about ful power or nothing....side stepping the clutch while taching the motor out at 5000rpm's...... so yes trannies have issues.....but if you are looking at this as a dailey driver, or trail ride, it is doable...... AS far as custom axles......if you are using an EA-81 Aged car, Turbo Coupe Axles are the right tranny sline, and correct length, and also fit the factory hubs..... Found this tidbit while converting the BEAST....AKA the WEEBLE WOBBLE.. Don't let anyone tell you it can't work, cause I've proved them wrong a few times already.......:moon: Later, John in Oregon....
  4. Address is John Bloom 4072 N. Clarey Eugene, Or. 97402 Pulled and waiting..... TAlk to you when I ship to give you tracking #...... Later, John in Oregon.....
  5. I have a Gen 1 Brat getting parted out this week, Call me about Shipping and such..... These hubs have fresh bearings in them....? later, John in Oregon.......541-729-8490
  6. Ok try it this way...... Pull #3 plug out and get that hole at TDC.......With it at TDC, Driverside cam Has a hole in the sprocket...Turn Cam so hole is at Noon....There is a corrilated mark in the timing cover plastic.....install this cam belt sitting as such....... Now without moving crank or any other part ,spin Passenger side cam so hole in it is pointing at 6 ....Should also have a corrilated mark in Timing cover plastic.....Install this Timing belt..... Without moving anything again,Check plug on # 3....it should be at TDC If so, you should be GTG...... Turn crank 180, and pull # 1 plug.....It should be At TDC.......? if so try to fire it up....... Hope this works, This is for EA-82 motors, but sounds as if 2.2 is roughly the same....? Later , John in Oregon.....
  7. Hey Woody...... I am curious......? 1.) How much fab work have you ever done....? 2.) How much if any have you ever done to your own ride....? 3.) how much are you into your Ride for in $$$$$$$$$....? I am the Owner of the Hatch Sporting the 12 inch Lift...... I along with the Help of Lumpycam and a few of My local Buds started fab work on this project about 4 weeks before the Rubicon trip....... Here is a fairly complete list of what we did to my Ride in that 4 week time... 1.) Took a 97 2.2 motor and AWD Automatic tranny out of a Legacy Wagon and fit it along with it's wiring into a car that was 11 yrs older......and had to be completely re-wired to accomodate the thing..... 2.) We hand built the entire 12 inch lift, along with all mounts for suspension. I had quite a bit of travel out of my fully independant drive train. 3.) We fabbed mounts and stuffed a Nissan Transfer Case behind the AWD Auto trans.... 4.) We had to figure out how to lock the AWD system in the Trans to allow the rear Drive shaft to be ran full time So we had Locked power to the rear and transfer case.... 5.) We hand built 2 of 3 drivelines 6.) We Fabbed a differential into the front to run front axles 7.) We had to fab All steering components, as Nobody has ever stretched a Roo to 12 inches of Lift.... 8.)We had to Completely re-do the rear Drivetrain and Built everything to hang the rear Off of...... Which brings me to your Pic of my rear diff hanger.......? I built all of this ride on 1500.00 worth of $$$$ 1000.00 of that went into getting the Motor and tranny.....It was bought in L.A. and hauled home on a trailer so for 700.00 plus fuel I had a 80,000 mile 2.2 and all its hardware Therefore I have about 500.00 into the Fab work done on the entire car.... That hanger is weak I'm the first to admit it.....We new it was inadequit before I eer pulled my ride out of the shop for te firt time 2 days before I put it on the trailer to head for the Con..... This car had not seen a trail let alone a trail with boulders in it........ But here is the Final Line........I Being a fabricator By trade new the Weak links in my ride, I went prepaired for my breakage if any plus I brought enough odds and ends to repair other rigs if needed....... I finally twisted that " GETTO" hanger just before Walkers hill....., and it caused me to grenade a rear axle cup....No biggy we had several extras.... I had my ride ready in about 1/2 an hr...... I then powered up Walkers Hill on just the welded Rear end of my car cause half way up I Realized I had also sheared a inner stub axle on my front LSD diff......down below Walkers I did this in front of the Guy who had the Blown up Cruiser With DOA transfer case......Along with all the other Guys camped out with him.... I am not here to make waves , Piss on anyones Head , Or Swing My Man Meat around....... I am here to say I took a Rig that hadn't been trail tested at all to a Trail known to Kick a rigs rump roast, and I drove in and Back out under My Own Power With absolutely No help from anyone other than my Own group of Subi's My Only Real carnage was that 'GETTO" bar/ Diff hanger at the rear......I new I needed it to be beefier , but ran out of time before the run..... As E-Zap already said......We took 3 completely differently built Subi's in , and All 3 came out under their own Power, None of which had ever been anywhere near this trail...... We learned lots, Saw More, and will be back again in our Subaru's in a year or 2 ........ Many thanks To Robbs And his Crew, Subaru of America For the welders, and Premier For giving the Break on the Welders....... Later all, I gots ta Go fix my 'GETTO" parts now........ John and Crew In Oregon.......:moon:
  8. Seeing's how I'm the First one with a chance to get on the puter, WE WENT , WE DID IT and WE CAME OFF THE TRAIL UNDER OUR OWN POWER....:moon: We also gained the respect of many jeep and Toyota Rock Crawlers....... Those guys have nothing on our rides..... Its Super late, And I'm way tired....Eric and Ken should be getting home any time, or may be there passed out already.....? We will post more later..... Got lots of Pics to go thru, and about 2 hrs of Very Kick rump roast Video thanks to Eric and his Killer cam... We broke lots of axle stubs, axles and bent 2 struts, but we fixed it all, and still drove them off the trail and Home..... Many thanks go out To Subaru of America For sponsoring the Welders, I got to use it 4 different times on our rigs, I won't say too much, other than it was WAY WAY COOL to have toyota Guys jumping out of their 30,000 dollar trail buggies to take pics of our rigs like they were foreign tourists on the trail for the First time........ Anyhoo......Enough for now, Eric has the best pics and Footage, I'll let him or Ken post the first Pics....... Nite All........John and the "BEAST" AKA New name : "WEEBLE WOBBLE ".... You'll have to see video to understand it...
