CO peeps! Feb 23 BBQ!
BeefaRu replied to kingbobdole's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Believe it or not, I actually got the original builder on the phone. He wants to meet this week and see the car. If no one else wants to ride along, I might do the short run to 200k with him shotgun. However...... This could be the perfect time for you guys to catch up to him about how to build that 411 dual range legacy/rx combo tranny. He implied he's for hire regarding building that tranny. Maybe we can do a group pitch-in and he can teach us how to build it. -

I did a post, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85112 but I'll put it here too. I'm at 199,964, and every mile of that is me. We reset the odometer when the beefaru was built in '96. This is a pretty cool thing for me. Anyone wanna ride shotgun for short ride to 200k?? I was thinking of a short jaunt up to genesee or redrocks for a photo. Company would be great. Gotta do it soon though, I'm runnin' outta miles fast! --Eric -
Anyone in the colorado contingent wanna come a long for short ride to 200k?? Every mile on that odometer is me (it was reset at 0 when I had beefaru built in 1996). Kind of a really cool milestone - I'm stoked!! I was thinking a short jaunt up to genesee or redrocks for a photo. Company would be great if anyone wants to ride shotgun. I might be able to drop in, need to find out about a couple things. Last couple weekend in Feb might be tough. BTW the BBQ was my place. The idaho springs idea sounds great! --Eric -
Consensus is several local guys want the hybrid tranny. Shawn started working on it, and everyone else got tied up with crap. But Shawn still wants to build it....just got tired of struggling alone. I'm behind the idea and committed to it, but have to finish a book I've been writing. When I'm done I'll be able to help Shawn 100%, and will hopefully be able to rope a few others into it. The mechanic I use could consult with us when we do get after it. So it's on the back burner for now, but no one will be content with it staying there for another year.

I just home from a gig in Castlerock. I don't think I'll be awake to make the mystery road ride :-\ I'm making progress on that book though. Should have first draft done by mid January. Yep, I'm pretty much out for a while until I come up for air after the holidays. Cheers dudes. -

I've gotta start hunkering down to finish a book I'm writing, so I'm out on fun for a while. BTW Bosco "sk'o" stopped in on a gig of mine in Cherry Creek Friday while he was out from L.A. He's got a rowdy looking impreza. Cool dude. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/member.php?u=2805 -

Ha! I was asleep at the wheel on this one & missed out. Looks like some old school rigs were there I haven't seen before. I really needed that day off though. -

I'm gigging VERY late Friday and late Saturday as well. Voice pays the bills so I'll be up around 9-10am if it gets moved to later time. Wait a minute.......isn't Phil moving? -

I just used a coat hanger from the driver side looking diagonally up from under the bumper. AC condenser made hanger the only option - I hooked it in, pulled and good to go. My question is - how do you replace the whole shebang? - cable housing handle and all? When I pulled it after it "broke" the end pulled into the cable housing and I can't push it back out from the other side. I'd like to replace the whole unit with something from the J.Y.

I agree - fun time, nice to have everyone over. Thanks for all the contributions! Jerry's rig was awesome. Didn't get a chance to see Phil's setup, but hopefully at the next meet. Good to meet Max, eyesore (mr mopar) & Yeti (nice wagon & congrats on the Brat score!) Talk about lucky.......today its wind driven snow, & yesterday -- we gathered around the fire pit, made a fire and said "crap this is hot - lets go sit in the shade"........ ha ha ha. I was lame on taking photos, but I have a couple. Looking forward to a spring BBQ and perhaps some winter 4x4.

Tom yea definitely bring the firewood. Been running my rump roast off. I have to pull a double performance today starting in lakewood at 5pm & finishing up at midnight 1am in castlepines tonight, so I'll probably be getting the plates/condiments last minute. No time to spiffy the Beefaru so it won't be as shiny as you remember ha ha.
