Offset of EA82 rims & comparable 6 lug 15" rims
So far, I'm digging up that legacy and newer subaru tends to run in the +50's mm positive offset due to the design of drivetrain. However I've found no figures on the actual offset of stock EA82. --E

Offset of EA82 rims & comparable 6 lug 15" rims
I need to know if anyone has researched the available aluminum 15" 6 lug rims that have a similar offset to stock EA82 rims. I'm running Peugeot 15" turbo sedan wheels (the 505 sedan - 1986). They've done a pretty good job of chipping up the paint on my wagon with the wider offset. They're also wobbly and very hard to find straight. I've seen toyota 6x5 or 6x5.5 (not sure which size) mentioned quite a bit, but there's no word about how much of a difference there is in the offset. I like this one:http://www.buycarwheels.com/zoom.html?sku=ALY69305U10&make=Toyota&model=4Runner&subcat3=ALLOY%20WHEEL&image=/images/products_small/cpbALY69305U1026.JPG this one looks less "dated" http://www.buycarwheels.com/zoom.html?sku=ALY69346U10N&make=Toyota&model=Tacoma&subcat3=ALLOY%20WHEEL&image=/images/products_small/cpbALY69346U10N26.JPG I did another search and found this http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59657 but I don't want a vintage brat or ea82 look. This page mentioned this rim, http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/images/subarubrumby_superlites_rearwheel.jpg which has more of a look I'm after, but it's an Australian company and the offset still has the tire jutting out similar to mine, but its not an EA82. Anyway, thanks in advance. --E

"Overhaulin" the Beefaru
Overhaulin' day three Access to the server is down, but page should be up tonight or tomorrow. Cleaned parts and trim while rough body leveling was happening. Picked out the paint today. We found a paint same color as stock so it'll look stock but with more "Fizazz" as my friend says. It should look very close to door jamb color in the shade, but will jump out with more depth and pearl in the sun. We're staying extremely close to stock color so the entire interior doesn't need to be cleaned and painted. The paint is a 2006 jaguar color. Taking the weekend off. He'll do more rough leveling and we'll attack it with sandpaper on monday for fine leveling. I'll be heading to the yards for a final push on trim exterior upgrades. --E

"Overhaulin" the Beefaru
Yes....and he's scared of the 58 Vette with the 502 racing engine (photos frm day 1)....that's saying something.I don't blame him. He screeched the tires just repositioning it in the garage. BTW I live in Lakewood too. That's where the ovehaulin' is taking place.

That's a one off MG my friend built for himself. A lot of custom body work to get a ford SHO engine & tranny into it. I haven't ridden in it, but its gotta be fast. --E

Photo album of day 2. Two days of working with all snap on air tools wrenches and sockets. Sure makes it go faster and easier. "New" parts from junk yard installed and fitted today. Car was stripped down and blasted with air and high pressure car wash on inside of doors, quarters fenders and engine compartment in preparation for full exterior body prep.

Denver: Goin' to the J yards 7-10-06
Thanks for posting your requests. I wasn't going to have time to pull more than what I was pulling which is why I said I could scout parts for ya. Here's what I did find and I checked western auto recycling, swift, and pull n save. Mikeshoup: There's a red XT at sidewinder. Row two from the fence. Antenna was pulled out of the hole, but still attached so maybe its useable. No XT6 anywhere I didn't spot any legacy heated mirrors. None with a heat control at least, so I assume they were non-heated. My take home stash was pretty good. Front bumper, a rear hatch from a loyale wagon, shifter with the 4wd button, carpet for the cargo area, door trim for all four doors, driver side door arm rest, interior plastic that covers the automatic seatbelt columns, rear hatch rubber seal, and some interesting trim from a loyale that lines just the bottom edge of the wheel wells to stop rocks chipping the paint. I found heat/ac buttons in primo condition, and I dug out the tiny little lights that backlight the text of the heat/ac buttons when you push them in. Busy day, but tomorrow I meet my old landlord who lives a block away. He'll be overhaulin the body & paint at his home shop. I really like the work he does. I'll post a couple pix of his work. --E here they are:

my old sube made a difficult trip
Good story! Been through 16 states in 10 years with mine. Recently made a job change requiring travel. Since Sept 16 2005, I've been from Colorado to New Orleans, to San Jose, Ca, to Indianapolis & back. Only problem was a U joint from a sketchy driveshaft install. And that only happened 'cause a lube place on the road didn't lube it, and........ I was pulling a car camper from Vegas & through all the Rockies to Denver -- U joint failed before the final pass. What a tank, and long live the......well, mine has a 2.2 in it. But I have a soft spot for the Beefaru. --E

BeefaRu replied to BeefaRu's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI encourage moderators to move the thread wherever it needs to be. I tend to hang out in "older generations" area, and there are a lot of people lifting and modding the old "metal". I've seen some pretty enthusiastic people there who do a lot of fun stuff without big budget. I just thought they'd enjoy seeing some crazy stuff by a subaru shop where budget isn't a concern. Moderators moved it here. My thought is it most likely belongs in the offroad section since they probably have the greatest concentration of people interested in the topic.

POLL: "Overhaulin" pick a paint scheme
Update: 7-10 Seventh added by popular demand Six paint schemes: Pick your favorite. I already posted these (different thread name & subject) but I'd like everyone to chime in for a poll. Thanks in advance!! This year marks 10 years this Beefaru's been good to me. Years of trips to see family in AZ and MT, and 9 years of hauling heavy music gear to gigs in the rockies as I gigged for a living. The last 12 months I've had a new career and its taken me to Hurricane Katrina (3 months) a wind storm in San Jose, Ca, and just recently 2 months in Indianapolis. We've been to 16 states now, and its been a reliable workhorse through all the changes the last 10 years. I've saved enough to return the favor with a paint job to keep it on the road a while longer. Within a year I should have enough $ to get a new car and retire this one for seasonal camping/4wheeling subaru meet & greet fun. If I get a chance, I'll update the website with more pictures. --E 1 Stock paint only 2 2006 outback style 3 Trim divides paint 4 Trim divides, without wheel flares 5 Over the trim 6 #2 with mountains 7 Update: and by popular demand.....#5 with mountains.

BeefaRu replied to BeefaRu's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell....this was his own. He had 60 grand into it. Like I said, he's over the top. I'll find out his prices when he fixes a couple mods on mine that aren't that good. As far as pix, I had no clue he was that radical and I didn't have my camera. But I'll take some when I pick up the car this week. --E

If in Denver, go to Summit Auto -- OMG!! (with pics)
UPDATE: Second picture added below I dropped off my car at a local builder I recently stumbled across. Before I saw the photos on the walls, he pulled me into the 5 lift shop and showed me a jaw dropping beast he's built that was on the lift for repairs from a recent test drive. Complete frame lift of a chassis that may be a combo of several cars, all skins (doors hood fenders etc) were custom fabricated and painted a huge metal flake. There's a snorkled 550 hp Duramax engine in there with two computers. The lift is massive, the tires are massive, the visual design is awsome..I just can't describe it...... really cool form follows function not just some mechanical hacking. He built one even bigger than the one I saw on the lift. It's the coolest, biggest outback inspired offroad build I've seen seen in person, and he's local! Drive down, and if it isn't there just look at the photos of that monster and the bigger beast he's built. He's at 1728 Helena 1 block east of chambers off colfax & chambers. I'll take a couple pix when I go down later this week. This guy is over the top. UPDATE:7-7-06 So..... does this qualify as over the top? This is the view from the seat of my lifted gl wagon! UPDATE:7-8-06 Well..... maybe that's not really over the top. How bout this one Nice grill - needs a few more lights though
