  2. Recent additions. Undergoing restoration.
  3. Need a fuel tank and radiator for a 1978 DL Front Wheel Drive. Thanks
  4. any clue as to how much rust this wagon has?
  5. ...this is the one that was advertised on craigslist Austin TX. I had already worked out a deal with the seller, now he's awol. Haven't heard from, doesn't respond to my email. Real bummer. I was looking forward to a Subaru in my garage, again.
  6. I'll try to hold on to this one, pretty unique. I've emailed back in forth with the new owner of the woody wagon, as recently as a month or two back. They still have it, and they do not want to sell it. I thought I'd ask. Oh well!
  7. Okay, I'll keep both of you in mind. Thanks!
  8. I'm bringing this 1979 FE Coupe from Austin to Spring TX for a bit of resurrection. I'll need parts, so please if you have FE parts don't throw them out! Ennio http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=673
  9. anyone need 72 - 79 parts lists/crash sheets...? (except BRAT).
  10. Well, actually it looks more like my wagon!!! I'm curious, was this a rattle can job? Anyhow, it looks much better then before.
  11. SHIFT: CLEAR YOU PM INBOX. Thanks, Ennio
  12. Anyone know if the CVT is really a bad deal? How hard is it to repair a CVT and keep it running? Thanks, Ennio
  13. I had the same problem. I replaced the sensor. The check engine light came on again (codes: misfire, and fuel sending unit). Anyway, some rattling and knocking started, and got louder. Turns out my timing belt pulleys and tensioner were wobbling and the belt was making a racket against the cover. I'm having the pulleys, tensioner and timing belt replaced (and the water pump, wobbling too). The wierd thing is that all that racket didn't make the check engine light come on. Go figure! But at 180,000k I figure now's a good time to do the timing belt.
  14. Okay, thanks. Funny the shop even gave me the number of the code. For fuel sending unit, the fuel gauge thing at the tank. I could be mistaken. I have noticed that whenever the fuel gauge needle takes a sudden dive to "empty", the check engine light comes on shortly after that. Then, when I put some gas in the tank and the needle comes back to life and settles at its correct position, the check engine turns off.
  15. I don't know. I do know that the second thermostat they put in (the first one failed and caused overheating) is a "premium" thermostat.
  16. Thanks! I forgot to mention.... I took it into the shop because the check engine light came on. Two codes: misfire, and fuel sending unit. New wires took care of the misfire. Subaru wanted $130 for the sending unit. I figured I'd go ahead and change the pump and strainer while I'm in there. Subaru wanted $445 for the pump. Wow. I hope I didn't do the wrong thing by buying the pump, strainer AND strainer for around $120 altogether off ebay. I got the Bosch pump and OEM Subaru sending unit.
  17. It's Houston Texas! I've had it a couple of months now.
  18. For those of you keeping track of this.... According to the shop, it's the thermostat. The shop INSTALLED the thermostat because there was NO thermostat to begin with. But I don't see how the lack of a thermostat would make the needle suddenly drop. Maybe not enough in the pressure? And why would it go up and then down... I have a feeling I'll need to replace the sensor anyway.
  19. My 98 Forester's temp gauge tends to drop down to the bottom for no apparent reason. Today I was doing 70 on the highway, and the temp needle just plunked to the bottom of the gauge. It had been holding steady about half way up for several minutes. What's the problem? or is this normal? It was was well over 32F at the time. Thanks!
  20. Anyone know what later year cluster will fit a 1998? I looked at a 2001, but the idiot light setup looks different. Thanks! Cricket 1998 Forester
  21. you should know about: www.denver.craigslist.com and www.ebay.com and the ebay/craigslist thread on www.ultimatesubaru.org forums. I found my wagon in the denver craigslist. Towed it all the way back to Spring, TX. Watch out for loose or worn wheel hubs. I lost an entire wheel assembly going up that hill by PepBoys in Colorado Springs. I never found the wheel....long story.
