  1. OMG , that thing is awesome. i'm going to have to get one when they hit the market.
  2. Awesome! a heart transplant a good place to start. can't wait to see the ends results. keep all of us up to date with pics. i like the safari door idea. are you going to move the front suspension forward like you've talked about in the past?
  3. Cool pics, looks like fun! well even though you broke a few things looks like it was worth it anyway.
  4. Damn that sucks only 30 min. of wheelin fun.
  5. Sweet looking pics. looks like a blast. got anymore pics or possibly videos?
  6. Awesome Videos!!!! Looks like you guys had alot of fun, cool seeing a subaru smoke its rear tires on rocks since they aren't known for having alot of power.
  7. i hear yeah, i hard to resist playing when you see a good place.
  8. jeez you just put a new one in. oh well, its all in good fun thats what matters, that and the fact you got it going again. looking good, hope when you get up here i can make it up north and go wheelin with all you guys.
  9. i'm up for it. i really want to keep my soob a soob as much as possible too. let me know how much i might need to scrape up. at the moment i have a bonus coming up in a couple of months and i'm hoping to use it for a weber upgrade and toying with the idea of an LSD in the stock front diff. the rear weld diff helps alot but now i want a little more.
  10. yeah the tires might help in traction and ground clearance but they do hurt our power. :-\ i've been through a few really tough spots unfortunately i have no videos to back it but a couple of pictures floating around somewhere i think.
  11. awesome looks like alot of fun. can't wait to see more pics and videos. went out today but didn't get to heavy with the wheelin like you guys did.
  12. OOPS that might suck. well good luck. hope everything works out for ya on fixing it, would really like to see some pics of it in the wild since its been sitting awhile.
  13. yeah make sure and get some pics. my last one i broke wouldn't come out so i took a tap and tapped out the center and ran a bolt with a washer on it into the center hole and used a prybar prying under the washer against the side of the housing and it just popped out. i tried everything else short of pulling out the diff and taking it apart. i don't remember what size off hand, i think it was 7/16 but i can let you know, i'll check when i get to work tomorrow and i can let you know if you want. unless you have already done this before i had also entertain the idea of using a dent puller but was told it was to small but i did have one other option i was thinking of before i had this idea.
  14. i second that, check your stub axles that go inside your diff. ( i know when my stub axles break they don't appear to be just by looking at them and i've broke 2 so far , :-\, one on each side . plus i always needed help getting out of the hole or the rest of the way up a steep climb afterwards. ) or your axle shafts. i have never heard of breaking and open diff, atleast not on a subaru. a friend of mine blew out his spider gears on his front axle on his dodge power wagon mid-late 70's, had to dig him out of the snow he was stuck in a 4' ditch. that was a fun night spent 3hrs getting him out.
  15. your beast would look awesome painted either way. i've been wanting to paint my 86 wgn camo for awhile now, think i will when warms up some since i have to do it outside.
  16. that would definitely be a good idea.

  18. WOW, that was insanly awesome. i got to admit thats crazy wrecking a perfectly good legacy but it was still awesome how it whooped the piss out of that bronco II.
  19. way to go rob, looks awesome. not that it didn't before but now it looks complete. nice job.
  20. i will try and get that day off from work. i think evans a little closer for me to drive then walker valley. sounds like fun and i've been wanting to hook up with you guys up north. i'll see what i can do. the group of guys i usually go with are a couple of fullsize rigs, toyotas and jeeps. heres a couple of pics of some of them on a trip we did the first part of december.
  21. ya we did have alot of fun. i've been wanting to get the bumpers made for along time, i even have the steel for it. i just need to quit going out and have fun for 1 weekend or 2 and get them done, my buddy keeps telling me to let him know when and we will get them built. know i really need to get them built. spent half the day yesterday pulling the front out and hammering out the hood. its not pretty but it looks alot better then the last pictures. actually you almost can't tell, it just looks like it has battle scars.
  22. Well as the title said, me and my son desided to go wheelin about mid-day last sunday ( 01/14?07) and we deside on heading towards Squaw Mtn. We started out at Promitory Park outside of Estacada, Or. and headed up FS Rd. 4610. Weather was good and sunny but cold and lots of snow.  Here are some pics of our trip. well after this picture was taken by me i had my son, who is 14 years old, get behind the wheel and pull the sooby out of this hole with some coaching from me. he did ok but he did stop it on the hill and he did get it started and made it up the hill. well the trail deadend about 100 feet passed this spot so i took over and went up turned it around and desided to let him get back behind the wheel to take us out to the road, which wasn't very far and the trail isn't that bad of a trail. i figured he could do it and besides it wasn't that bad of a trail to me pretty easy. just before this spot were the picture was take tradgety struck. :-\ the road sloped off to the right alittle well he had to go around a downed tree on his left side he cleared it ok but the sooby kepted going to the right and right into a tree head on. didn't hurt the radiator but pushed the electric fan frame into the oil filter and put a split in it yes we lost oil pressure but made it to the road. long story short got it pulled the fan out and my dad brought me a filter and put it and got to my parents house ok. we we're stranded for about 4 hours before he got there though and it was cold. sorry for the long post but it was an exciting day, to say the least.
  23. sounds good, i'll keep you informed. chaz
  24. my 86 GL wgn i got it with just over 100,000 miles on the clock and the timing belts on it just broke at about 215,000 but i wouldn't recommend letting them go that long. anyway i personally like the EA82's(85- early90's), i never had to much of a problem with mine. i do like the 80-84 wagon, 80-whatever hatch and brats. i've always like that body style but when i bought my first one i went with the EA82 body style because it had more room in it especially in the back ( cargo area ).
  25. yes i do believe that spfi came with D/R 5 spd trans. i had the oppertunity to get one once that had been sitting awhile it was center punched in the front hard and it had spfi, D/R 5spd and power everything.
