i'm up for it! just let me know when and hopefully something doesn't pop up to keep me from going out. :-\ 86' wagon about a 2' suspension lift, 235/75-15 m/t or 29/8.50-15 swampers on 6 lug wheels. rear welded diff. and lots of dents. 84' wagon D.D. stock suspension cranked 215/70-14 Blizzaks on Pug wheels. LSD rear diff. you know if i'm there i'll pull you out . i've never yet had to do trail repairs after breaking a stub axle, i just pull the axle out like normal when i'm done and delt with the broken stub later. but when i recently broke the axle shaft between the 2 joints i had to pull both ends so they wouldn't fling around and hit anything not much to that on the trail. it does kinda suck if its raining out, thats why i carry that mat around with me. hell just spend the money and get you an LSD like my 84' has you'll be happy with that. i'm with Scott on this on this too!

no problem. would be nice to have a good size group of subarus off-roading. would show all the traditional wheelers what subarus can do. we'll keep you guys posted. but have nothing in the plans yet that i know of.

my DD has 14" Blizzaks on it that i run year round. before i got the 14"Pugs i ran studded wintercats on it when i had the 13" white wagon wheels then in the spring when studded tires we're suppose to come off i just removed the studs out of the tires and ran them. they worked great offroading they we're rated mud and snow.

alot of the places we go stock should do ok as long as you have some desent traction tires.

i agree that is a sweet looking 2 door. i'm also in agreement with the ruts to but it looks like you might have cleared them ok. did you scrape at all? looks like it was a nice trip.

Yes Scott, i curious about that to. i would love a set of 26" muds for my 84' wagon. i have blizzaks on it now and they work pretty good.

i'm in agreement with everyone else as far as not enough gearing, you are roughly close to the stock gearing in high with 13" if you run low with 30" maybe less. i'm only gauging this by how my car reacts in low gear from what i remember it was before i lifted and put 15" on it. my tires are only about 29" new and there isn't enough gearing in alot of offroad situations, but i do manage pretty good but my clutch suffers. when i push real hard especially up hills it starts smeeling and letting me know it doesn't like it. So! to answer your question in my opinion running in low with 30" would be close to normal high range with 13", ok on the road but sucky offroad. probably be fine in muddy fields but not to good on some or most trails on Goat just ok at best. :lol: :lol: thats based off of the original mini, it uses the subframes and drivetrain. basically its a kit car using mini parts. they did make an offroad version of the mini called the moke that was built for the military but the military never adopted it. they are used at some resorts and i've read that they use them on the Canary and the Catalina islands .this is similar to the mini moke. those are the same wheels i got for my 61 mini that i'm hoping to have on the road soon. sorry for running off subject a little but i thought i would put that info out. BTW Mini Mania in California are selling new remake chassis of the mini moke if anyone is interested

ok, well i just got off the phone with my local Carquest store and he said that he can get me rebuild kits for front calipers for my 86" wagon my cost is $4.00 a side. would take a couple of days to get there in Illinios. as far as any other part i haven't ran into anything else but i do know that rear disc brake parts are getting hard to get.

So you did go and get it, sweet! Looks better then it did in the classifieds. all soobs look better with character marks! all my soobys have them, they would just look plain if they didn't. you know grandma cars.

well i have never looked for rebuild kits for these i just replaced my calipers, i'm sure its not to hard rebuild them i've done many just haven't rebuilt any yet that has the parking brake involved. i'll check my local sources and see if there are any available here.

i know you can still get rebuilt calipers from raybestos. not sure on cost. check Les Schwab they can get them and you can buy the calipers over the counter from them as a customer carryout.

you'd be better off just either drilling the hub out ( like i did) and converting to 6 lug chevy, toyota, nissan, or getting the 6 lug wheels and drilling the 2 extra holes on the rims( like some people have done) to make them fit the unmodified hubs. you can get the wheels from a wrecking yard for about 20-30 bucks and new ones aren't all the expensive too. theres info on this forum telling you how to do either. i think the nissan wheels look awesome on my grey 86' and i get people always saying "i didn't know subarus had 6 lugs"

Oh man that sucks! looks safe to me can't be any less safe then my older minis and they are being imported to here from New Zealand and Australia and driven on the streets legally.

what part are you talking about getting welded? the whole wheel is weaker. these wheels and tires are only make to get you to the nearest place to get your flat fixed and to get in under 50 mph. not to mention they are marked as temporary thats why they are a "T" wheel. sure some of that is the tires limitation but its also the wheel.

and in snow when your trying to turn it just likes to go straight and then hook up at the point you have your wheels cranked and are plowing snow that it trys and push you into the ditch. but ya you learn to over come that.

ya, me to. it ruins the fun especially if you don't have a spare with you. i guess i'm going to have to start carrying one with me but i still haven't started carrying a spare stub axle either.

I'm sure you will. Especially if you are looking at getting you diff welded plus stub axles.
