  1. Its running, gotta time it a lil better, but its running, gonna loom it all up and take it for a ride Saturday, so happy, question on the clutch switch, i grabbed a couple whole sourcing parts for this swap and not sure if there is a difference between the clutch and brake pedal switches and if it matters which post ont its plug the neutral switch wire goes to, leaving the other a ground
  2. I have spark! It is beautiful, but its backfiring up the intake, im pretty sure my wires are right but am checking against the book, either wrong plug wires or 180 out right? It was beautiful to hear it trying to start, poor beautiful old girl
  3. Couple of progress pictures ive taken as i go, so much garbage emissions crap, trying to figure out a permanent intake route
  4. I have a friend looking for one, price?
  5. Ok so this plug, in the picture top is bracket side bottom right is harness side and left in my palm is a diode with a plug leading off, this diode comes from the harness side of the plug the other wire from this plug is only yellow, is this the tach signalwire or does the tach just go on one of the post
  6. Ok, in front of it right now taking pics and writing in my problems/ questions as i go, i bought a set of test lights today, hoping to get it by this weekend, and the 88 was auto, as far as distys i have the 92 unmodded and the one in it is an 89 i think, it takes the same cap and screw on rotor as the 92 though, gonna try to look up the differences in wiring and such, but i can mod the 92 if necessary
  7. I have the igniter/ amplifier connected, its on the bracket which is solid mounted in my car, the picture has caused more confusion than help so i will get one up showing the bracket and amplifier, its there and wired in though, ill have to search a thread showing how to test it, Although i have a full fsm set for 88, so if the harness I'm about to go look at is a manual transmission it should clear up my problems
  8. And depending what you want to do for your e-brake you could always grab the Honda Accord calipers and have a rear e brake
  9. Just advice, get the rotors new to save on shipping, is your gl ea81 or 82? My 87 is ea81 so i needed to add the proportioning valve, where an ea82 car has it stock, which only leaves calipers and hubs, just my 2c, if the one im looking at today has the discs ill see what itll cost me to grab them
  10. LOL for sure I'm also going to get lots of pictures of everything before I even start pulling it just so I have pictures of what it should look like and I don't have to ask you guys for them. Question do I have to modify another distributor before I can test it because I have the one from the 92 like can I just plug it in and see if I get spark or does it have to be modified with the gear and in my motor
  11. Im extremely grateful for any help and effort spent, I'm going to the junkyard today to pull that extra harness so it doesnt get crushed, giving this one more go with this harness, everything else is getting power and working, ive probably been too close to it for too long and just need to step back for a minute
  12. ive just read all the threads i can find about the simple user error mistakes people make in this swap so as to avoid worthless duplicate threads and post information for anyone in the future with this project. Im going to get a test light tomorrow to run that test, i need one anyway. Im gonna go look at the jy and maybe grab while im there the wiring harness for an 88 gl, if its a standard, with all its matching bits and start fresh, but before i give up on this one, i want to see if I can get this licked, so ill compare what i have to it, guess ill touch back tomorrow. And im sorry if i annoyed you ihscout, frustrating being so close...
  13. So, on the plug between the coil and bracket the 2 pin connector, one i have to switched power and the other (yellow goes upmto this plug pictured, im about to scrap this harness and start over with a fresh 88 with known matching ecu and disty, ihscout what pin on the ecu does this yellow go to? I know its not the White with yellow stripe to pin 52. This plug seems to be my problem, i did notice while wiring a few lines i was supposed to cut from the fuse bux went here instead, gues its my fault for assuming, so if i dont get it soon gonna pull this harness and start fresh. Does anybody habe a pdf of the diagram ive seen that only shows the fi wiring? I tried to open it in dropbox and it wouldnt open. Thanks all
  14. And I guess it goes without saying but the hot from that plug is Switched power correct not constant
  15. Bracket is mounted with a blasted working coil I only set that one down to take the picture as you can see in my post above I have the bracket grounded Like A Champion not only the bracket grounded to the body but a wire running from the bracket to another ground so that I know the bracket is grounded like I said I tried to check all the obvious stuff before I started asking questions, I tried to start it with a known working coil that is completely mounted in the car and setup, and still no spark but I think being a loyale there's a plug that the yellow on my coil plug runs to goes through this plug and then to the ECU and since I don't have that plug connected it's not getting the ECU signal
  16. If you have spfi swapped into your car, where is the plug that connects to the coil connected? Is one a ground and one to the ecu?
  17. Everytging is run through the bracket, took those pics while trying a different coil, the first coil i tried was one pulled from a running fi setup, im tripple checking that its wired like gd said, im going to check every wire after work, and i know long distance diagnosis is difficult, just know theres others whove done this same swap and run into similar issues, but they never write the solution in their help thread, i think maybe having got my harness from a 92 loyale is where my problem is
  18. So messed with that plug, didnt help, i noticed my relays got warm when i left my key on, does this mean i wired it wrong? Or bad relays? No blown fuses, just no spark at the disty plug. Hop some oe chimes in, or a denver localle is down to help for a 6er
  19. Ok, so i followed gds write up to the tee and every question i had i waited re read and answered myself mostly, but now im stumped, i have it all hooked up, plugged in and everything, im getting fuel for sure, but not getting spark, its a little messy under here but when it starts ill clean it all up, i have this wire coming from the positive side of my coil going to a diode to a plug, no idea where it goes, the bracket is grounded like a champ, soldered connections, in run and start i have 12v at my plug wire but no spark, neg grounded to block, i cant figure it out... please help, ive tried to check the real obvious stuff
  20. It feels like I'm asking a lot of questions but I did the rest of it without asking any so I feel pretty good about that, and the first time she fires up I might cry, lol, just from being so proud
  21. And on the relays im adding, pointers on how to tell which wires go to which on the relay connector side
  22. Pretty much have the wiring figured, for a temporary fix ill be using ign and fuel pump relays to get this pig started (only i am allowed to call her that) in place of tthe bmw and Mitsubishi boxes, never wired a relay before though, and direction or advice would be immensely appreciated, i have 15 amp fuse lines for the 2 fuses, which leaves the fuseable link coming off of the ignition relay, does this connect to the factory fuseable link area or do i run it to the batt with a fuseable link in the middle? Or does it get something completely different
  23. Fi swap into my 87 hatch almost done, new plugs gapped to 044, 8mm msd wires, super stock coil, new disty cap and rotor, aftermarket coolant oil pressure and voltage guages hooked up, new water pump, oil change (i like royal purp, any opinions i havent heard on it? And what oil do yall run in winter?) Ummmm im sure i forgot something but she is coming together
