I have used stop leak with partial succes on head gaskets but has worked on a heater core multiple times, and have taken apart engines that have used stop leak. I really dont see how it will clog a radiator. It seems to coat the whole radiator system with a very thin layer of it self, i have never seen it build up, and have never seen a chunky stop leak. If there is a chunky stop leak use a diffrent brand. It really is only a temporay solution if it even works, but you can keep on putting more stop leak in it when the leak comes back.

I looked at it and the body was in good condition, the interior was in good condition, but the car needs a water pump(leaking, and it makes bad bearing noise), a timing belt, the fan for the vents makes a knonking sound, the visors are gone :-\ , and the sun roof acts weird, but i think a sprong, or more are missing, but the engine ran great, the trannie ran good from what i could tell no rust and no under body damage. What do you think it is worth? The ej22t is a non inter-ferance enigne, like the 2j22 isent it? If it is I should be able to do the water pump, timing belt my self. Sorry but it is aculy turned out to be a 92. What could you do to improve the fuel econemy, any idea ho much the inner cooler would help, maybe a MSD ignition? Also how hard is it to install a turbo timer? Also how good of milage would you get if you ran 50% highway 50% city not always flooring it.

The stock WRX 5spd arnt crap there acully pretty good. If you look the people who break there wrx trannie 95% of the time are people who beat the crap out of it, flooring while shifting, not using the clutch, stuff that puts alot more stress on it than there shoiuld be since you can't break the tires loose all the stress of flooring while shifting, shifting with out the clutch gets put put on the trannie. I heard of people with huge amounts of power in the stock 5spd, and they dont break if you dont drop the clutch or "power shift" as some people put it. Therte not the strongest tranies 6spds are stronger, but the 5spds are not weak.

This weekend my dad is going to look at a 93 legacy turbo wagon to replace his 336,000 mile 90 legacy, and i was wondering what i should look for? I know that it has the 4eat that is prone to failure in the SVX, but i never heard of failure in the turbo legacy. Is there any things in specific i should watch for, How long are the turbos good for? How much shaft play should there be in the turbo, if i can check. I know that the 4eat is a "strong" trannie and with a good set up trannie cooler it shouldent have as many if any problems but how much horse power can it hold i think i may be able to get some mods done to it, a new ehust, boost controller for some more boost, and a inner cooler. THANKS

Running more boost is really the only way to gain a substaintial amount of power, if you get a better flowing exhust, Down pipe, up pipe, and the rest you would gain some power, and you should have less turbo lag, and a better throtel response, but it would void your warenty like almost all performace upgraes. The stock WRX should be able to handle a couple more pounds of boost shouldent it?

why AWD?
wrxsubaru replied to p3pppx's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I saw that nissian comercal and it dident really make any sence, they said the AWD drive hurts handling on the dry pavment, the drive train has little to do with handling (the viscos coupling center diff on most subes barley have any limited slip effect at all and does not cause any real binding be between the axels unless its screwed up), the drivetrain is set up only to get power to the ground, you can get the most power to the ground through all the wheels. The drive train does afect how the car reacts when it is given power, or more power and when you have all wheel drive usally the car has the most controlable changes when the car is given power. Example If subaru made a WRX with FWD, RWD, and AWD they would all have very close handling limits, but would all react diffrently when you gave it gass, and AWD usally acts to most controlable and is the fastest set up , because you can get more power to the ground. AWD also improves braking acting as its own anti lock system because the wheels are conected through the drive train. It helps alot more than most people think, ecpecialy with a car with out ABS. Also the Nissian Skyline is primarily RWD but when it dectes slip it locks up so its AWD. -
yeah after beating on a $100 90 5spd awd legacy in the dirt(small jumps, big rocks, and trying to make it go any where:headbang:), the front end got quite abit softer alot faster than the rear, it made the car have just have some over sterr in the dirt, and the mud, made it alot more fun. If the front struts are worn out it definity makes the car have more over stear.

Yeah you can really slam the door with your fingers in the way on the window, about 4 years ago my family was driving from seattle WA to michigan in a 90 legacy and we stoped at a sube dealer for a front turn signal light assembley, and as we all got in the car to leave a sales man came up opened the drivers door while my dad was in it and slamened it shut on his hand, thats how I and my family learned about that one, i guess it was a very desperate atempt to sell us a new sube:D

While i was taking out the auto out of my SVX iI restd my hand on the ac hose going from the ac compresor to the fire wall, and when I lifted my hand off of it it started to hiss/leak it leaked for about 20-30 mins at the end of the hose were it conects to the compresor. Is thee a gasket, I tried tightening it down but it dident stop or even slow down the leak because the bolt was already tight. ANy ideas on how to fix it? THANKS

We have a 90 leagcy that has a imported engine swaped in it and is not using the distributor, but what the ej22 uses, and now there is oil leak from the distributor. I was wondering were the oil is coming from, and could i just block off the hole for the distributor since the engine is not using it? THANKS
