  1. I was told the RS has the same suspension as the WRX. Thats what made itthe RS,over the other imprezas.
  2. Yeah it sounds fuel cut. Is your car is a auto ? I know when my friend hits fuel cut in his supra it kills the engine for a sec, but sence its a manule it is forced to re start, and the check engine light comes on for a couple secs.
  3. The RS has the WRX suspension, harder springs, struts, and larger sway bars. I Think the RS also gets rear disc brakes, and WRX seats. I am not positive on all on this tho.
  4. There is a difrence between the NA legacy and the SVX, but you could use the auto from the legacy with out problems, but you would probley also have to change the rear diff ratio to match the front diff.
  5. I just changed the timing belt, water pump, crank seal, and cam seal, and now if you lift up the dip stick or, opent the oil refill cap it blows out oil. I just changed the PCV valve and it dident cahnge any thing. Thanks
  6. Thanks, i got the cam pullie off using a strap wrench. Im put the cam pullie back on, and now the whole cam gear wobbles alot. What bearing is bad? The seal i replaced opn the cam, was popped out completly.
  7. I dont think it has a nut shape. I put the timing belt back on, to try the same method you told me to use for the crank pullie.
  8. I got the crank pullie off, but now i cant get the cam pullie off, i shoved a wrech in there to jam it, and it did, but the wrench broke before the bolt came loseb :-\ so i put a craftsman wrench in there ( if it breaks i can return it), It bent the wrench so it has a 35 deggre angle in it now this bolt does not want to break.
  9. Thanks alot, i was thinking about doing some thing like that but was scared it would screw something up.
  10. I tried tday but couldent get the carnk pullie off, i had my dad step on the brakes, and have it in gear, but the pullie would move about 270 deggres from drive train slack, and then i couldent get the bar i was using any further becasue it would hit the frame. Any ideas on how to get the pullie off? Did you just use a impact wrench? I know there is a special subaru only tool for this, does any one know were to get it, or a place to borrow it from?
  11. How are you spose to take off the crank pullie, i left it in gear ( manule, and it makes the car move around if i try to losen that way.
  12. What is the top dead center mark on the crank pullie? And which mark are you spose to use on the block?
  13. Does any one know if the parts are the same for the ej18, and the ej22, becasue we havea imported engine that is a ej18 in the leagcy. I was told they were all iner changable.
  14. Sence I cant find a legacy to replace it this weekend, ive decided to to do a timing belt job, and replace all those seals in there. Are there any instructions on the internet some were? Thanks
  15. The belt might not be tight enough? I think you should have around 1or less inch of movement on the belt up and down.
  16. Today i was installing some rear camber bolts on my SVX, when my dad pulls up in his 90 legacy 5sdp. The first thing i hear is tiking, the valves were tiking pretty bad, so i opened the hood to check the oil, there was some smoke :-\ , so i checked for a leak, and found out that oil was leaking from the timing cover any idea what seal went bad? So any way i added some oil, about 1.5 quarts :-\ and turned on the car again to see if the tiking would stop, it dident. Maybe the car has very little oil presure, or maybe perament damage, i dont know, but here is my main question should we keep the car? The car needs a new heater core, i guess complete timing belt job, and the car is poping out of gear in 4th, and maybe 5th. The car gave us way more than we expected with 345,000 miles do you think we should give it up? I can do all the work my self, and can get all the timing belt parts for around $100, but we could get a another 1 gen legacy for under 1 grand in decent conditon and with alot less milles, and probley alot less work, with a better trannie , and heater core.
  17. The person i bought my svx from (bought it with out reverse) broke by putting into reverse while going forward. I know that the auto trannie are one of the weak points to the SVX but that weak point can easily be fixed, and then you would have a great race trannie that is probley beffeier than you would ever need.
  18. The U.S SVX auto tranmissions are not weak, the problem with them is cooling, if you do a level 10 rebuild to one there good for over 500 horse power with the stock gear set. The level 10 rebuild increases the size of the fluid passages which makes the auto bullet proof, if done right. The JDM, and euro SVXs have a diffrent auto than the U.S auto, it has a diffrent center diff set up and i think it is a totaly diffrent trannie, but it still suffers from failers I dont that trannies weak point.
