Legacy WHP??
wrxsubaru replied to Reason01's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI wouldent use percentages to determine how much power you put down. They dont seem that acurate after you add or take away horse power. If a manule AWD WRX is losing almost 30%, and a auto FWD SVX is losing about 30% i bet it would be in the high 30%s. I wouldent belive 33%.

2005 Outback Specs
wrxsubaru replied to PAezb's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI know the ECU can try to stop detonation but it can only do it to a point, i really dont think it would run well at all on 87 octane. There was a STI owner that put in 89 octane on accident and saidhe had horible detonation with any boost.

Is this normal?
wrxsubaru replied to wrxsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI had no idea the starter would move car in gear. I only had to do a couple 1st 2nd shifts, about 4, and only one ground a little so i dont think i did any real damage to the box. The clutch cable felt kind of squisy, before it went. It broke off by the transmission at he first bend. The wire seemed to break at 2 parts, about 1/2inch apart, about half the wire was broke at onepart and half at the other. Gravel RX, yeah i did a 5spd swap in the SVX. Makes thecar alot quickeroff its feet.

Legacy WHP??
wrxsubaru replied to Reason01's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt really depends on if its a uto or a manule. A stock WRX puts out around 170 WHP and 227 HP at the engine, so its alittle less than 30%. I really dont belive in the percentage if you add, or take way HP. I dont see how you would lose Hp at a linear amount, and i cant see a WRX 5spd with 1000 HP only having 700 WHP. I think your car would have around 110 WHP.

Is this normal?
Yesterday I was working on my SVX bleeding the brakes, and when i finished i decided to take it for a drive, so i took it out the brakes worked great. So i took was taking my friend home that helped blead the brakes, then at a stop light my clutch cable broke so we pushed the SVX out of the street and parked it a a seven eleven. I went back with my tool to see exacly what happened the cable jsut broke right were it bends at the transimission. So my dad came with a legacy and we pushed started and i drove it home (4-5 miles through seattle) with out the clutch, first time doing do that on a sube. Is this normal to ahve the clutch cable break? I called the dealer and they said that it happens fairly often, but we never replaced it on my dads old legacy with 350,000 miles on it. I have a stronger presure plate with a aftermarket clutch so i guess it would make it harder, but the pedal fells the same as all the other 5spd cable subes i dorve, so it cant be that much stiffer.

legacy turbo tranny swap questions
wrxsubaru replied to claro_que's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt would work but you would also need the rear diff with the NA trannie. The cable operated trannies are not as stropng as the hydralicly operated ones that are used on turbo legacys normaly.
-
How do you lift a Subaru Legacy/Baja?
For the rear i usally jack the car up from the rear diff, i have had no problems yet, and i have jacked my SVX up, which should weigh a little more than the Baja, ecpecaily in the rear. I use the front sub frame for the jack stands in the front.

What to look for in a 2002 WRX used wagon?
wrxsubaru replied to engr's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe only real problem about a WRX is there trannie, when its a manule. The trannie only goes out really when people abuse them, by doing clutch drops, and power shifting, if the owner dosent abuse the trannie it should be fine. I would try to find a owner that wouldent abuse there car, i wouldent buy one from a tennager, or a a person who has done some modifications to there car, just becasue they would seem to have a higher chance of abusing it. Also the rear wheel bearings go out, but you can replace them with better ones that do not seem to have the same problem. I think subaru started to use the better rear wheel bearing after 2002 (not really sure on which year).

How strong are the subaru 5spd FWD trannies?
wrxsubaru replied to wrxsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSubaru never made a new gen turbo vehicle with FWD. Alot of the stress on the trannie is put on by the AWD.

Making your own wannabe STI trannie mount. For around $15 U.S.
wrxsubaru replied to wrxsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah sorry about that.
