  1. Nice! Want adventure, hell bring it out my way!!!!!!!!
  2. Subarawesomeness!!!!!
  3. fair enough ezapar. I agree, apintonut, 3 hours worth is much better viewed on a sweet big TV, and the sticker and "ownership" of having the disk goes a lot farther than instant smartphone YouTube access. At the same time, quick referencing via the tube is handy. All that said, I totally respect your just coming out and expressing your wish for maintaining its privacy ezapar. It also helps with the etherial legendary nature of Subarus on the Rubicon! I hope they came with "limited edition reburn" decals on the jewel case You should post a pic of the sticker too to add to the legendary awesomeness of the limited number of real copies! ciao, and keep on keepin' on!
  4. quote name="Uberoo" post="1224192" timestamp="1397292243"]I dunno I have never uploaded anything to youtube.Don't know how its done.Although can't you only upload 15 minutes at a time?I got 2 DVD's,I haven't seen the second one yet but the rubicon vid was like 2 hours. YouTube uploading is relatively straight forward ( I say now that I've been doing it for a while), some video formats are quicker than others, etc. etc. As a new user you're correct in that uploads are more limited in length, but it could be spliced in another video program and uploaded in pieces, say part 1, part 2 etc. Maybe someone more familiar could do it? 8-) Just a thought though. Kind of a "if there's a will there's a way" sort of thing.
  5. I'd guestimate the engine AND transmission together might be around a quarter ton, I.e. 500# (probly on the heavier side). I just moved a couple transmissios this weekend solo and I've lifted and moved an ea71 solo before (granted an ej2x is heavier), but I'd say you're still under half a ton total dead mass. And yes, dropping a transmission out the bottom sucks! Pick the mated pair out the top to get the gearbox.
  6. Hmm, changing the diff fluid was complete, the car's not on stands or a jack but its own weight on the ground.... Is it that I let him crawl on (wait for it the ground, outside? Part of the active Gen X crowd and as a very involved (as in full time stay-at-home dad for 14 months of his life and continuing as part time now with 2 boys) father, I believe teaching, showing, sharing and experiencing are all amazing ways for children to learn about and interact with their environment. I know parenting strategies and allowances range the board and is about as comfortable to talk about as religion and politics, but it was a completely safe situation. He was never that into putting random anythings in his mouth and has always (and continues to be) been very good at heading my warnings about unsafe things. I respect and appreciate your comment and concern and please rest assured, I am not exposing him to dangerous situations, particularly caustic or toxic ones, but rather experiences and adventures. He's 4 now, and rides a pedal bike (helmet always) on bike paths and even local single track trails (I do live in Moab after all Father and fathering pride expressed, however I digress from this tangential hijack
  7. since ya've got the files, any chance of putting them up on the tube?? I never quite saw John's weeble driving, but saw a couple short clips of it on the Rubicon, like ten years ago. . . .I like talking about roos on the rubicon but don't know any moredetails, so reviving this thread is great!!
  8. X)Thanks, and thanks! I'm hoping the thread starter comes back to visit his thread, I totally wanna hep-a-brutha-out!
  9. G, Hey dude. Is the 93impreza in Moab Rhett's 2dr by any chance? What other info do you have on this impreza in Moab? Again, I live in Moab, year 'round and would love to share what I've done and what I know. Continue in this thread or PM me. Let's get your questions out and see what's possible! Ciao!
  10. CHECKIT!!!! http://www.subaxtreme.com.au/
  11. Props!! Lemme know if you make it all the way to Moab, since it's AWESOME here [in our pseudo spring]!
  12. considering reclamaition from Moab!
  13. I digress!! This is about you Gaar!! tell me more about your rig and where you want to take it and I'd be happy to share with you what I know of the modifying Subarus world. This is a good community for your question and you'll get a lot of good help here.
  14. HAHA! I can never remember if its Mica Ruby or Ruby Mica, its color code 947, but now it's 2- tone with satin black... well 3- tone with oxidized satin black and the hood But More commonly looks somewhere between those and these
  15. Hey dude, I'm in Moab too!! Per JesZek, I have a 95 legacy Sedan, 2-tone maroon and black. are you in a 2-tone grey and black lifted wagon? Do you work a the zip line tour? I am unaware of any other dual range swapped new gen Soobs in Moab, but I know of like 5 in the country, and there are abunch more old gen dual range 4x4 swapped EJ soobs out there. Based on what you said here, it sounds like you'd want a dual range 4x4 from any dual range 5-speed EA subaru (say 85-89 GL wagaon). That'll give you a hi and lo range, the lo will be nearly a 60% gearing reduction AND real 4x4. You'd be driving FWD when not locked in hi or lo 4x4. The route I went is maintaining full time AWD (cuz it's awesome! but sourced an Australian dual range 5-speed FT AWD gearbox. There are a few ways about this and details there too, but it can be done. I have a friend here with a 97 OB on king springs who'se looking for this swap for his wagon. Anyhoo, send me a PM or since this is your thread we can talk about it here. There are ways to get a low range in your 90 legacy, both mean changing the transmission. . . .Gloyale gave you the quick and dirty to get a real and useful 4x4, but you'll lose your 4.11 axle ratio for that, unless you do a bunch of other stuff... Anyhoo, glad I stumbled on this thread and tell me more abou the 93 impreza you referenced! Ciao.
  16. When digging through the [readily available data] specifications it seems the standard sizes (e.g. 27x8.5 14, etc.) are LT whereas p-metrics (e.g. 215x65-16 etc.) do not get LT listing. Comparing THESE two (feel free to check others) there is a little difference in lug depth (2/32" - 3/32") with 16/32 for the 27X8.5R14LT vs. 13/32 for 215/75R15 and 14/32 for 215/65R16 and 215/70R16. I've also only found, and its not intuitively or very readily available, reference to 2-ply carcass or sidewall construction but BFG AT/KO is easier to find as 3-ply sidewall. I have a specific email out to the guy who gave me the severe snow rating info, regarding construction differences b/t the LT rated and p-metrics (specifically referencing the 27x8.5 14 and the 215/65 16).
  17. I feel they (AT2s) shed mud and snow A LOT better than the BFGs. I've had both in LT27x8.5 14.
  18. I've been seeing different info and conflicting reports on various web sources (tire rack, discount tire direct, discount tires, general's website, etc.) regarding the snow rating on the Grabber AT2s. I run a set of 27x8.5 14's which are LT rated tires. They're AWESOME in the snow, studdable and rated "severe snow". Other popular sizes are 215x65 16 and 215x70 16, but these are not rated "sever snow tires' on severe sites. So, I wrote an email inquiring on these differences. Here is my inquiry, "Hello, I am writing to get specific information regarding the Grabber AT2. I have a set on my Subaru (a modified and lifted sedan running the 27x8.5 14" grabber AT2). I've noticed conflicting information in retailers and the General site regarding labeling and capabilities of this tire. I see that my tire size (27x8.5 14") is listed as an LT, is severe snow rated and studdable. On Tire rack (and the General site) I see the 216x65 and 215x70 (all for 16" rims) are NOT listed as severe snow rated, nor LTs. Discoint tire direct lists the 215x65 and 215x70 as severe snow rated AND studdable. Thus there is advertised conflicting information out there...." And here is the reply I received, "This is to certify that all sizes of the General Grabber AT2 attain a superior snow traction performance that meets the requirements given in the "Rubber Manufactures Association definition for passenger and light truck tires for use in sever snow conditions" (RMA Information Service Bulletin Volume 37 / Number 2, February 1999). All version of the AT2 are studable, and can be used in sever winter condition; however, only the Light Truck, (LT), version of the tires were submitted for the testing." So there we have it!!! ALL Grabber AT2s are severe snow rated AND studdable! Now I have an inquiry to differentiate the LT from non-LT rated tires in the pipe.
  19. Back on track. So we pulled the EJ253 out of an 05 RS last night. These studs on the bottom of the block are a 3!+$# to slide the transmission off of BUT, here we had the car jacked up pretty high on stands with a slack chain on the block (not tucked down tight) AND we were still under 8' total clearance with the pull also with under 5' of liberal room in front of the car to back the jack out and maneuver it. So you'll be fine in your garage. Even with the hood propped with the regular place, that's a good indication of overhead clearance needed if you tuck the hoist chain closer to the block... BEST! -mw-
  20. that said, flip flops are a standard though here!! more on that . . . flip flops: flip flops: flip flops: flip flops: Bare footed:
