  1. i would say if you are going for cheap and easy, you could probably rule out the SVX! I think you'd do well with an old 80s wagon. Good luck.
  2. oh wow it sounds like you have been buisy! I love to hear about people taking old cars and fitting them out with all of the best options. Sounds like a really nice car. I'd love to see some pictures if/when you get time.
  3. Wow! That is a really nice looking brat! I like white on subes. I think it goes with the white wagon wheels. I also like green both the dark, moss color and the light metallic. Although you never see either around here.
  4. yeah, thats it. maybe I was confusing the dials with another car. Did your car also have a lumbar adjustment? My 86gl wagon had one, but no telescoping arm like yours.
  5. I think it should, but don't take my word for it. Better ask one of the ea81 guys. Also, bear in mind that it isn't but so hard to modify most any brush guard to fit just about anything. NYC taxis have them as do most delivery minvans in New York. I sold Bushbrat the guard off of my grand cherokee (it was a westin model that I paid $100 for at pep boys). He made it fit his 84 wagon.
  6. What do all of those things on the side of the drivesr seat do on the gl10s? Isnt there a teloscoping arm that comes out so you can pump something up? Arent there a few dials and levers? I'm looking for a picture....
  7. I hope I didn't upset anyone that drives a brown one. I'm sure they could be made to look nice. The only ones i've seen around here is a rust bucket though.
  8. Nothing against chevys, but I think you are on the right track sticking with a Subaru powerplant. But then again, its been done before (the various sube engine swaps) for all we know, a 350 could be the best thing that ever happened to a brat, but somehow I doubt it. On a slightly unrelated note, I did know a guy who put a 351 in a first generation escort. I don;t know the details but when he was done it was rear wheel drive and he sid somehting to the effect of "I'm to scared to go over 125!". So, you can do anything. have you seen the wrx powered atv?
  9. No worries! I'm glad your coupe found its way to an appreciateve owner. I think I may beholding out for something that might not come around again; a convertible. But a hardtop would be super cool as well. We'll see. -Jack
  10. Do you see those wheels very often in your part of the world?
  11. What was the worst color subaru offered on the old gen subarus? I am not wild about the dark brown that was available. What are your opinions?
  12. That's good to hear. I was sure I had seen factory 2 tone wagons. In looking through the old brochures online the only 2 tone options I saw were for the XT and brat (I think).
  13. You have made references to a few different cars here. What kind of cars are you talking about? I have no idea who or what an "Emily" is. I'd love to follow your project description. Thanks. -Jack
  14. It isn't nice to taunt those of us that will never own a coupe that is as nice and original as yours.
  15. Most impressive! That may be the nicest looking XT I have ever seen.
  16. Did I? Well, don't forget about the part where you give me the 82 GL at no additional charge to me. Of course I will be happy to buy you a beer. If its baseball season, perhaps we could all go and watch the fabulous Norfolk Tides play.
  17. doh! I've been without a subaru for too long. I meant valve covers.
  18. Nice wagon. Are there three sets of lights on the mirror? What do they all do? BTW I'd love to find an old coupe like that too.
  19. It looks like the heads are covered in grease. It may just be my monitor (tiny iBook). I didn't know that you had already cleaned it up. Have fun running it. That's the most important part anyway right?
  20. What years and models could you get 2 tone paint on the subarus? I am talking pre-legacy/imprezza here. Ea82 cars and older. I could have sworn I saw it on an ea82 touring wagon. It had dark blue rockers and the rest was light blue. Thanks. -Jack
  21. I have just come up with a fantastic idea! I think that, in an effort to bring our subaru community even closer, you and some of your other northwest buddies should all pile into the 82 GL and drive it here to Norfolk so that you can give it to me at no additional charge! Along the way you will have time to bond and tell jokes while taking in the scenic wonder and beauty that this great nation has to offer. Upon arrival in Norfolk you will no doubt encounter many multicultural experiences (gunshots heard in the distance, people trying to sell you stolen electronics for dope money, the unmistakable smell of the Elizabeth river at low tide, great fried seafood, southern accents, rusty subarus, and um, I dunno, the Atlantic Ocean isn't too far away). I will gladly take you out and buy each of you 1 beer. Then you can make travel arrangements to get up to the northeast to see the other clump of subaru guys! Doesn't that sound great? Let me know what dates are good for you.
