  1. that soob sounds alot healthier than mine... lol. you speak of getting your coins to rattle... my engine sounds like it has a roll of pennies in it somewhere. haha.
  2. carbed '87 gl, d/r 5 speed, 165,000 miles... still needs the timing adjusted... it's a little retarded. 26 around town, about 30 on the highway. before i retarded the timing... i was getting 30 around town and 36ish on the highway.
  3. yeah, i was thinkin it wouldn't be possible in a soob... just cuzza the axles, I'm pretty sure something would break. BUT... do you think an auto might be better in that situation? you wouldn't really have a clutch to burn up. instead you have an entire transmission to destroy!!! oh yeah, this brings up an old subject. there was a new design of cv joint brought up on this board that was alot stronger than the current, most common design of cv joints. you could get them custom made for anything, but you had to be ready to ration your $10 a week cuz that's all you would have left, lol. let's say you manage to afford these custom cv joints, 6" lift, divorced t-case, 2.2, or maybe ditch the divorced t-case if my theory on autos is right (actually it's somebody elses theory but whatever), and lock up the rear, and maybe limited slip the front..... cuz all 4 locked would be such a horrible ride, lol. maybe after all that $$ and time it could be possible?? we can only dream. i guarantee you somebody will tackle it with nothing but a lift and welded rear and climb outta there no problem, lol.
  4. or just get a winch, lol.
  5. IMO... I really don't think the soobs low range is low enough, but I really don't have much experience in how steep of a grade a soob can climb.
  6. too chicken to admit a soob can't do it? haha... j/k. anybody??
  7. just saw some impressive video of a jeep going in the bellybutton at moab, then seeming stuck, and magically driving out. anybody ever had their soob in that freakin thing? if not, I'm gonna make it a goal to be the first.

that's something i can't decide... i don't know how much i'm gonna offroad. i know with a lift, i'm gonna wanna do it all the time... but i'm developing some rust on the underside of my car and it's basically hopeless to try to fix it... I guess you could say it has cancer. I just plan on driving this one till it falls apart, and when it does take the lift off and put it on something else:grin: man i want a hatch so bad, lol.

where can I get one? all I can find is 3", but looking at a 2" lifted car as opossed to a 3", I like the way the 2" looks... and I think the 3" might cause a little more drag on the highway. would that inch make any difference or am i worrying too much? should i just get a 3"? thanks in advance. -Jordan
  12. do they make 2" lifts? the smallest i see is a 3". should i just go with 3"? and why didn't I post this in offroad?? lol
  13. anybody heard of them? i just googled subaru lift kit looking for byb and found this... http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/pricelist.htm who has a lift kit from them? is it pretty good?? i just want a 2" , i don't really want a 3". i did notice that solid aluminum blocks would be at an extra cost... so i'm assuming their lift kits use square tubing? would that be alright for moderate stuff?? thanks in advance. -Jordan
  14. nevermind... they came with the races. I thought it was a big cup or something but it just slips on the outside of the bearing. silly me.
  15. I bought an inner and outer bearing, but i got no race. do you think I could get one at a junkyard if it looks good off a low mileage car or should I go ahead and get a new one? thanks for the replies guys.
  16. what does the race look like? is it sorda like a spacer inbetween the bearings? and are the inner and outer bearings supposed to be different sizes?? and do I need to get any kinda seals?? i'm thinkin about doing the wheel bearings but I think i'm probably gonna pay somebody else to do it. any word of advice will be very appreciated. -Jordan
  17. that's pretty cool. when i was younger, maybe 12 or so, we had a spider like that on our front porch every night. made a web from the ground to the hanging plants on the edge of the roof. my mom didn't know about it... and when i was coming from my friends house late at night and the front porch light was on, you could see it and there were hundreds of insects on the wall of our house. I'd pick out the biggest one and throw it in the web. that spider got pretty darn big, until my mom found it during the day hiding in one of the hanging plants when she watered it. she killed it of course.
  18. ANYBODY, PLEASE!!!!! I NEED SOMEBODY TO WHEEL WITH!! DON'T MAKE ME ASK THE JEEP GUYS!! lol.
  19. anybody in the East Tennessee area who wants to meet up and wheel somewhere?? i know of a few places in Greene county that has some good trails. who's interested??
  20. went wheeling on a mantainance trail in Knoxville yesterday... MAN IT WAS AWESOME!!!! MUDHOLES UP TO MY BUMPER!!!! and the funny thing is, didn't even come close to getting stuck once even though i have street tires. I can't imagine what I could do with a welded rear end, a lift, and some mud tires. dear mother... I don't think there's even any terrain around here extreme enough for such a vehicle... lol. it's behind a kole's store... one day I saw some jeeps coming around the building covered in mud, so me and my mom (in her camry) pulled around the back and saw the road, so I walked a ways down it while she shopped... too bad some of it was closed off with logs laying across the road, those areas had some STEEP hill climbs... ended at some abandoned train station I think. boy... I gotta get me a lifted wagon
  21. mine started making the same noise today when i was wheeling through some deep puddles... but it made it through 1st and 2nd. drove another quarter mile of dirt road and it went away. and it started pulling to the right too... sorda more like "tugged" but it also went away once I got off the trail... balljoints??
  22. what's that little hole in the top of the wp for?? i seen coolant puddled around that hole... time for a new waterpump??
  23. it seems like i couldn't find the mounts ANYWHERE back there... but I will look tomorrow and if not, I know where i can get the stuff. while I'm at it I think i'll get hooked on some lsd, lol. MAN THIS THING'S GONNA BE SUCH A SWEET RIDE!!!! when i'm done with all this i'm going on a road trip to NYC.
  24. do you know if anybody's ever fashioned their own mounts? cuz i have a swaybar and i'd really like to use it, but I don't wanna have to go find another rear end..... although I know where one is. just too much trouble to go pull it and pull everything out from under my car.
  25. alrighty, thanks alot. that clears everything up.
