  1. 400,000 miles and he's never seen a CEL. Are you sure it's a Subaru? lol
  2. hahaha, that was freakin priceless.
  3. I'm not from Australia but, hey anywayzz. it's a nice board. a little hostile lately, lol, but hey!! you get 1000 people talking about the same thing and what do you expect to happen. anyhoo... back on topic. welcome to the board.
  4. i would say ky or vaseline, but just use a minimal. and spray the pipe with pb or something to eat some of that rust off of it. and lube the end of the pipe instead of the inside of the hose.
  5. i got a blunt. who wants to pass it around? lol
  6. makes me wish I still had the wagon in my avatar.
  7. when my wagon made the "hummm... hummm..." noise that seemed to resonate through the car, it was a rear wheel bearing. I did em, and BAM!!! FIXED!!!! NO MORE NOISE!!! haha... but u-joints make a similar noise. grease or replace the rear bearings, but check your u-joints first. -Jordan
  8. I knew you'd pull out of that subaru hating mood, we all go through that for our first couple subarus, lol.
  9. Bucky: "I'll make it to 300,000 if it's the last thing I do!!!" Dumb American Automobile Driver: "Sure you will." Bucky 100,000 miles later: "What was that you said? My hearing is 100,000 miles off and I just now heard you." my sense of humor is very corny isn't it.
  10. brace yourself for either A) triple Subaru accident or random plane crashes into random Subaru dealership. Awwww, damn it... I jinxed it. Now they'll BOTH happen.
  11. WELCOME!!!!! great board, you will enjoy it very much. great quality info here. 79' brat? nice... it should be looking really good by the time you're done with it. enjoy the project.
  12. i'm seriously thinking about doing an ej22 swap sometime in the summer. still looking for a wagon cuz i just got the check for my old one. i would really like to find out where it went and buy it from the jy, lots of new parts on that car. I probably need to do timing belts pretty soon, and it leaks front diff fluid fairly bad... about 1 quart every 2 1/2 weeks. stinks. marks it territory in modesty, oilpump needs a reseal. it's losing coolant as well... maybe those headgaskets are about to let go. I really hope not. gonna buy an ej22 and have it ready and standing by for when the headgaskets do decide to skeedadlle.
  13. the only cars that i know has tighter turning radius than the ea82s are the 80's vw carbiolets, 31ft towing circle compared to ea82s 32ft towing circle, and I think the ea81s have a 31ft towing circle... but i'm not actually positive.
  14. well then, i'll have to stop that, lol. i don't let it go too high when I'm gearing down, maybe only 3000rpm or so. never higher than that cuz it seems to me that going from a low rpm to a much higher rpm so quickly wouldn't allow time for the oil pump to get lubrication to the rings fast enough, resulting in some unecessary wear and tear. I just stay in a lower gear if I see the light changing ahead.
  15. so, gearing down at stoplights and letting the engine slow the car down long hills saves me much gas, correct?
  16. do fuel injected cars equipped with manual transmissions have a fuel pump cut off when you're moving above a certain speed above a certain rpm? i notice then if i'm rolling downhill in any gear above first and above 2000rpm, the engine has almost a hollow puur to it... but as soon as it hits 2000 and lower, it makes the same sound as iff i was not touching the gas at 4000rpm and then just barely touched it, it goes from hollow puur to "gurgle" exactly like when it goes from no gas above 2000 rpm to no gas below 2000rpm. it ALWAYS does this. So I know it's not a one-time freak thing. sorda "gurgles." the muffler isn't in that great a shape so the sound difference is alot more obvious.
  17. pull the motor, timing belts, headgaskets, complete reseal, oil pump, water pump, all new hoses and belts, scrub, new clutch for the hell of it, buy some tools and you're off. We soob fanatics love backup cars.
  18. if it's on photobucket, there will be 3 codes under the pics... I THINK anywayzz... and one of them, if you just copy and paste it, should be the pic. can't remember which one though... and if you get the wrong one just edit, erase the old one, past another. p.s. sweet pics.... i wish we had that type of terrain out here.
  19. do you have any pics of the carb? i know i couldn't find anything in the diagrams on my carb either, but after asking somebody i work with... he showed me where the choke adjustment screw was. you had to come up from under the carb and it was attached to the throttle linkage it seems? screw was pointing down... but i can't say for sure. not without a pic anywayss.
  20. Thank God. I can finally sleep.
  21. 199,000 about. and yeah, i'll probably bring it to a meet, haha.
  22. I have some pugs, and I think with low profile tires it wouldn't rub so much... but with the way I drive they would rub. I was thinking about finding some nice hub-caps and customizing them like Bucky92 did... those hub-caps look good. maybe a red and black instead of white and black combo for my car.
  23. gonna paint the wheels black and get the windows tinted. thought about xt struts in the front so it would ride lower... but it would look awesome with a lift.
  24. look ma... no rust!!! and what's up with the trailer hitch?? lol.
  25. I think bgd has a very unique way of commnicating, and it seems dareon understands him better than most of us here. Or it seems that way to me. Yes, noisy hla, or TOD... has been discussed several times before. and as GD said, it's been torn apart, hashed, etc etc..... they tick, you replace, they don't tick. that's about it. But bgd is still learning, he's only had 3 soobs... he's not that experienced. it could be something completely new to him... maybe his other 2 didn't make that noise. maybe seeing the 40 pages that "noisy hla" brought up reminded him that he didn't have that much time to scroll through each post looking for his answer. but anywayzz... we're all heroes here. he, as an individual, has contributed alot in the way of making ea82s more mechanically sound. the clamps on the front springs as mentioned in some of his earlier posts, actually do make a difference in the way the car handles/drives. that's something nobody else would have thought of... NOBODY. He, as an individual, has actually contributed more to the ea82 than alot of people here. so if we all can be nice so we don't chase eachother away that'd be cool. each and every person here has done alot for this site, let's not forget that anytime soon.
