  1. wow, he has no freakin idea. lol
  2. no... I don't need a parts car for my soob. it's in perfect shape!!! but my Effin car really needs an effin transmission
  3. i went rompin through some very muddy roads out in iowa on a road trip in my old '87 (looked almost identical to yours). Yeah, it was awesome. looked exactly like that when I was done too. good times, good times
  4. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. It doesn't snow here. It doesn't storm here. It doesn't even get windy. I want to move to Alaska. I want to go now. wait... i need a 4wd. can i borrow yours?
  5. it really sucks living way out here. I NEED AN EFFIN PARTS CAR DANG IT!!!!! and yeah, sounds like intake manifold gaskets.
  6. holy mother, if this thing happens... it will be an absolute BEAST. and GD... I really liked your quote "A smart man learns from his own mistakes. A wise man learns from others mistakes. A stupid man never learns at all." just thought it was worth posting twice.
  7. it just dawned on me how much i miss my 4wd wagon i'm looking for one in good condition... found one for $600 but of course POOF it's gone, lol. it looks really freakin cold there. my dad's in Minnesota and he said the HIGHS are around 14 and the lows get down to 0. says that the diesels that everybody drives to work usually don't start in that kinda weather so he's been charging people rides to work. and oh yeah.... he's been eyeballing a red '89 gl wagon that's been sitting for sale in a parking lot for about a week... he's thinking about going back to old soobs Soobs effin rock.
  8. severe case of TOD? can you record the sound?
  9. do any old soobs have 2 catallytic converters? cuz mine does and it made me wonder if it was a california car. p.s. this thread is getting off topic isn't it, lol
  10. small block? are you crazy? EJ ALL THE WAY!!!!! HELL YEAH!!! lol
  11. http://nashville.craigslist.org/car/237154570.html the only thing i don't like about that one is that it's been sitting. i hate it when stuff sets up like the brakes, the gas goes bad, it develops leaks... too much work. after the first soob i resealed and did a crap load of work too... my parents won't let me have another car that needs worked on. if i were to choose between the two... i'd probably buy the one that has 365,000 miles on it cuz it ran fine, the only thing it seemed to need was syncros. i'd let somebody else do that cuz i know somebody who can do it for cheap and i can't pull a tranny anywayzz. and it would be good to go. just too pricey... but i did find a '92 loyale 4x4 5spd wagon with 213,000 miles for only $600. will be checking into that. i'll call all 3 today and gather some information. thanks for the input
  12. www.kbb.com says like $650.... yeah, $400 sounds fair. she's selling it to make a down payment on a new van. it's not AMAZINGLY clean underneath... but there's very minimal and manageable rust. kinda hard to find that around here... most of the ones i've found are rotted all to hell. i'll keep everybody updated on this chain of events. lol
  13. Subaru_dude replied to zukiru's topic in Off Road
that'd be awesome to have a southeast meet.... i don't even think that's ever happened before, lol. but i am without a 4x4 roo... but if i could actually get a few days off I would definitely at least show up and possibly ride with somebody if necessary. but i doubt i could even get more than a couple days off in a row
  14. she's asking $1200. no way it's worth it though, not with 365,000 miles on it. the clutch seems very stiff, and it grinds going into FIRST gear. didn't get outta 2nd though, just circled a building with it. new front axles, leaking a little rear diff fluid. rear axles look good. good tires, new brakes (is it just me or do 4wd's not stop worth a crap no matter what?) being that it's an '87, it's hitachisized. but i got a weber and an adapter plate so that's no biggie. needs front struts, have those too... and the only rust is around the rear wheel wells and rear quarter panels. no major rust underneath, and the paint on the car is in fairly good shape. same color as bdg73's car... some kinda bronze cinnamon? the hood's clearcoat is basically gone... no spare tire either. rear hatch actually stays open... and it has the original jack (yeah i know, big deal) new spark plugs and wires, disty cap and rotor. engine felt strong and pretty healthy once it warmed up, didn't smoke at all when i started it. no moisture in any of the lenses, all the glass is in good shape. no chips in dash. headliner and all that is in good shape, no odd smells. overall the car looks pretty good, sounds good, feels good. except for that freakin transmission and the clutch. i'm thinkin more like $400 with that kinda mileage. what do you guys think? '87 EA82 4WD d/r 5spd wagon.
  15. man, i shoulda WAITED. lol..... looks like a LOT of fun... haven't seen snow like that in a long time. still searching for a wag... definitely making it my toy when i do find it and it'll definitely be at the next christmas tree run. unless i can get some kinda freakin meet going down here, which will never happen. it's mostly imprezas over here on the east coast.
  16. that's frreakin nice. i want some alloys like that. and all ea82 rear view mirrors fold in.
  17. clunky windows... if you mean they're running slow by that, I think you can pull the door panel off and somehow disassemble the switch and just clean it. I think brake cleaner would work just fine. that stuff evaporates fairly quickly. 2 months... that's a while. i wrecked mine, (the one in my avatar) and bought a soob a week later. i simply can't imagine 2 months... haha
  18. haha... i did the same thing. didn't even quite read your post... I thought, "snow, there's gotta be a soob nearby..." I didn't even glance at the 4-runner... soobs first, THEN the 4-runner, lol.
  19. when i got a carfax on my 87, it told me it came from chicago.
  20. me too JF1AC43B6KB206906. thank ya very much.
  21. top speed with an auto is about 75. but yeah, for around town it's alright. i've never known them to be unreliable when well taken care of, but I really don't have much experience with autos. you'd probably be getting around 22 round the block, 25 freeway. a 5 speed would definitely be the way to go eventually. my 89 5spd 2wd sedan gets 38 mpg if i'm nice to it. 32 is actually the worst i've gotten since i did a tune-up... but i really had to beat on it bad. i know what everybody's thinkin... "38 mpg? yeah right." that's the same thing i said when i calculated the mileage. it was within the first 3 gallons of gas, that's about where you get the best mileage.
