  1. Are you sure? The car runs great at idle.
  2. Do you guys think a bad tps or iac could cause this to happen?
  3. My buddy bought an 88 gl wagon with the ea82. A few days ago he was driving around running errands and the car just all of the sudden started acting like it was choking itself out. It runs great at idle, but it won't rev past 3 grand unless you go super slow. The fuel filter is new and we just put new plugs wires and a rotor in it today and its still acting weird. What do you guys think it could be? We also ran some seafoam in the gas.
  4. Could the uhmw be used for a 3-4 inch lift? Or is it not advisable? I found some 6" diameter pieces that are 5 3/4- 6 1/2 long.
  5. Yeah, I almost didn't want to post that because I feel lake a moron for not double checking. Could be worse though.
  6. Yeah, I got it figured out. I took a quick brake last night and my dad finished up the job, well he put one of the pad in backwards so the metal side of the pad was rubbing against the rotor. Luckily he didn't drive anywhere but down the driveway, or else id have to probably get a new rotor and pads.
  7. Hey guys, I tried searching about this but didn't see much. I just replaced the brakes on my dads 91 legacy last night. Pads and rotors. Now when you step on the brake pedal it makes a grinding noise, but only when you're on the brakes. I don't think the caliper is stuck because the grinding stops when you let off, and I lubed the caliper up pretty good where it slides.
  8. So one needs to go to the switch to be grounded then the other goes to fuse 2 20 amp. I'm sorry, you gotta forgive me. I don't know anything about wiring. I could barly wire up my sterio. So I'm gonna be kinda slow.
  9. I don't know what its called, but it sticks out of the top of the injector itself. Its a little metal piece that sticks up and fits into the rubber on the under side of the clamp than holds the injector in.
  10. On my dads 91 legacy the front windshield washer pump has 2 wires hanging out of it. 1 is blue with a white stripe, and the other is blue with a red stripe. Where do these hook up? I tried looking in the haynes manual at the wiring diagram, but just got confused. Thanks guys.
  11. Thanks for the replys, I have it figured out now. I bought another injector, but again it dosnt have that little metal piece on the top. It dosnt leak though.
  12. Ok I picked up some new o rings for the injector, and its still leaking when I turn the key. Anyone know anything else I can try to stop it?
  13. Hey guys. A couple months ago I replaced the #4 injector in my dads car. I ordered it from rock auto, and when I got it I noticed it didn't have the little thing that sticks up on the top and goes into the cap that holds the injector in. Well my dad dropped the car off with me to look at because it won't start (starter issue I think), and when I opened the hood I noticed the gas smell. So my question is should the injector have that little dickie that was on the top of the old injector or does it not matter? And if so can I find a used one and swap that on? I used new o rings on it when I put it in too. Edit: I just opened the hood and tapped on the starter with a ratchet to see if I could get it to start, and nothin. I looked at the injector and it was dripping gas from all around it. When I go get the starter tested I guess ill get some o rings too.
  14. I tried searching, but didn't really find much, where is the idle swich located on a 91 ej22? And how do you change it out? If you guys have a link to a thread that would be great. My dads car is running real rough and I pulled 2 codes, 17 injector #4, and 42 idle switch. Unfortunatly no auto parts stores around me carry injectors so I'm gonna go to the jy and pull a few and see which one works best. Thanks guys.
  15. Ok cool, the black connectors are right beside the green ones. Again sorry about not posting a pic yet, I know its hard to understand what I'm talking about without it.
  16. Last night I was looking under the steering wheel of my dads car for a diagnostic port because his check engine light would come on for a few minutes then shut off. I then got side tracked because I found two sets of male/female connections that were un plugged. One pair was green and the other black. Ill try to post pics later, i m on my phone right now. Any way, I plugged the green connections together and there was no change in idle or anything that I could tell, then I plugged the black connections together and still no change except the chech engine light started blinking intermitently. Any ideas why these wires were unplugged? I unplugged them again till I could kinda figure out what they were. Thanks guys for all your help, I really appreciate it.
  17. The gear ratio is right on the tag, my dads is 4.111
  18. Yeah I should've thought about that, it was a stick. There were a few wagons from the early 90s there, so if that rear dosnt work I still have options. How would I do a quick junk yard check to see if the diff is any good besides check the oil? My dads rear didn't make that howling right away and it wasn't constant, it was just kind of random. Thanks guys for all the help so far.
  19. Are there any differences between the 91 and 93 rear diffs other than possibly different gear ratios? I noticed when I picked up the driveline out of the 93, the front half was longer. I'm planning on grabbing the rear out of the same car.
  20. Hey guys sorry its been so long to update. My dad went and got a couple tires put on the legacy and noticed the rear half of the driveline was missing. So I went to the JY yesterday and got the driveline and the guard that covers the pinion, put them on and took it for a drive. The trip was only about 1/4 mile, then it started making an off and on howling noise. So I limped the car home and put it in the air and started it up. I had my dad put it in drive while I looked under the car to see where the noise was coming from. Its definatly coming from the rear diff. I checked the fluid level, it was black as hell but it was still full. Do you guys think its only the fluid? Or should I go rip off a differential with the same gears and put that one in? Sorry for the long post y'all.
  21. Ok sweet, it was bugging me not knowing what it was for.
  22. The tires are all 185/70/14 but they're all mis-matched. They do have about the same amount of tread though.
  23. Thats weird there's not supposed to be a fuse. I guess I should go take it back out again. Thank you for all the fast replies guys.
  24. I guess I could go find a gravel road and try breaking the tires loose to see if its working. When I pulled the fuse I only drove slow, I think 35mph max.
