FWD light?
espey_16 replied to espey_16's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo if I pull the fuse the awd might come on? When I drove the car I accidentally broke the tires loose but it was only the fronts, the rears didn't kick in.

FWD light?
Hey guys, my dad just bought a 91 legacy wagon and the fwd light is on in the dash. Where should I start trouble shooting? I dont have any experience with awd so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ok one more question, I know what the manual button does, but what about the black button on the front of the shifter plate?

Distributer swap info
Hey yall, Im in the middle of swapping an EA81 from an 86 hatch 4x4, into an 82 sedan 2wd. I have the flywheels swapped and a new clutch, and new head, intake, valve cover, exaust, and oil filler gasgets installed. The problem I came across is, the distributer from the 82, has a 3 wire plug on it, and the one from the 86, has only 2 wires. Is it ok to swap the disty from the 82 engine, onto the 86 engine???

Question for you Transfercase guys
so with a t-case mod your d/r stick becomes stationary in 4 high, and when you want 4wheel drive you just use the nissan stick?

Help please
Ok so yesterday I couldnt get the plugs out, and I didnt want to pull my head (though I probably should have), so I just pulled off the rocker arms, and took a 14mm socket and pounded the plugs the rest of the way in. Will the plugs be prone to popping out now, and if they do come out, how will I know?

Help please
Will Permatex 77B work? Thats what I used for my valve covers. And, yesterday I tapped each one in about half way, how would I get those back out without pulling the heads? Would a heat gun work?
-
Help please
There are 3 per head, 1 on each side and 1 in the top middle, how do you install those? Thanks for the help, with my clutch and this problem GD.

Help please
It might have, I went away for a year, and while I was gone my friend pulled the engine.
-
Help please
I pulled my valve covers off today to replace the gasgets, and there was a plug sitting in each head. It was the same plug on each side. What does that mean? I tapped each one in as well as I could, But neither one went all the way in. Will this cause me any problems later? Thank you.

Clutch issues
Ok I'm just going to put it on and see what happens, I took pictures but I cant find my usb cord to get them on the computer. Last night I had the thought that they gave me a kit for an EA-82, because they never asked me "EA-81, or EA-82?", they just said "1.8 litre? Carbed or injected?", but rereading what was already written it cant be an EA-82 clutch because the disk fits on my spair tranny. And yes the 86 engine is from a 4x4

Clutch issues
Will I have to buy a smaller flywheel?
-
Clutch issues
Well I bought a clutch kit for a 4x4, but when compaired to the clutch that is on the engine still (the engine is out of a 4x4), the pressure plate is completely different, but the clutch disk fits on my spair tranny. The 2wd is an 82 sedan, the engine Im putting in it is from an 86.

Clutch issues
Are 2 wheel drive clutches different than 4 wheel drive clutches? Im putting the engine out of my old 4x4 hatch into my 2wd sedan. Both engines are EA-81. The clutch kit I bought yesterday is different then the one on the back of the engine Im putting in the car.

thinking of doing my first lift
Has anyone come up with a 6 inch lift for an EA-81 yet, I havnt been around for a while so I dont know.
-
head gasget
The kit I got is a fel-pro, could I put silicon gasget maker on the intake gasgets to prevent them from leaking in the future? And since my whole engine was covered in grease does that mean I have a valve cover leak?
-
head gasget
I got the intake off and the block was black , but 2 cans of degreaser later, and I can see the origional color on almost the whole engine. The engine Im going to use dosnt have a head gasget leak, so should I change them anyway since the engine is out and I have the "heads up gasget kit", and I need a couple of the gasgets out of the kit for the water pump and intake?
-
head gasget
Is an 82, EA-81 exactly the same as an 86, EA-81? I have an engine out of my old hatch that Im cleaning up, and I want to throw it in the 82.

Driveline interchangability
Will the drive line on an 86, EA-81 4spd d/r hatch fit on a square body EA-82 wagon with a 5spd, push buton 4x4?
