the spring on the clutch pedal is a helper spring. Not all the years had them. After doing the clutch cable on my wagon last year it was stiff as hell. I removed that big ugly spring from the clutch pedal and all was better. As far as what was said above about it being the Pressure plate's jub to return the clutch fork to the 'home' position. thats not entirely true.. if you have a HH (which all 4wd manual soobs do) the return is built in to the HH.. My car was an auto and I opted to not install the HH when I converted to manual. even with a brand new clutch and PP, a return spring on the fork was still required. I knew this in advance however because that little tidbit of knowledge had been passed down to me from someone who knows 10 times more about subarus than I will ever know

4 inch lift = stretched fule lines..its possible something came undone during your initial drive.. also check the wires to the pump as the lift may have stretched them as well.

Well, Now I've gone and done it. Was torquing down my heads on my EA82T. Got to the final TQ stage (47ft/lbs). Damn headbolt stripped. Ripped the threads right out of the block. Am I screwed? Do I just toss this block in the dumpster and hunt down another one?I'm so friggin irritated right now. This motor was supposed to be done and in this weekend. Also, is it worth using that gasket again, ir is it screwed too?

Eh.. mine are wired to come on with the key.. switch borked and I was in the middle of a long trip.. temporary fixed that has worked well for over a year:) -
Top of the block, behind the intake manifold.. A little left of center.

Ooh! Ooh!..I'll be there!! If I leave now.... One question.. is the PB 5 speed from a turbo car?
-
My FSM says to split the case.. Headgaskets.. Inexpensive is a relative thing....Be too cheap and you get crap and end up doing it again.. Try the felpro permatorques.. no retorquing and I believe they are about $40
