  1. Huge pressure difference. I would be relly surprised if it even started
  2. Andy.. Come finish my motor for me.. I'll give you $5 for gas..
  3. I got to see the last one in 1980.. gonna have to miss out on this one.
  4. Theres a jumper behind the dash on the 87 +.. Jeez. havaing mine stored somewhere else is a real PITA sometimes.. I can't just go look at it.
  5. if you like, I can cross post this to the local chapter of NASIOC. One of the TXIC mods is a Subaru of Dallas Salesman. Plus he's a pretty good guy.
  6. I am curious if anyone knows the the offset of the stock 13 inch steels (EA82) and also, the offset of 14 inch pug steels.
  7. Don't forget to stock up on wheel bearings... And as was said above, if the tranny has not been rebuilt/replaced, plan on doing it as soon as you get halfway home after buying it...(psss.. 5 speed conversion)
  8. Being a turbo, its highly unlilely its a D/R.. most likely a Pushbutton S/R 5 speed. If its in good shape, runs well and not rusted all to hell, $900 is not too bad, but being almost 20 ytears old, its bound to break on you. Plan on doing a couple hundred dollars in maintenance as soon as you get it home unless they can produce proof that maintenance has been done. As was said above, its not the best foundation for an offroad beast, but it will do well in the snow and is am all around fun car.. but then again, I'm rather partial to GL-10 Turbo Wagons.. I have had... a few.
  9. Does oregon allow enough letters for RICE WAGN J/K Hop on AIM.. I need to talk at you
  10. PK doesn't do Gen 1 lifts that I am aware of. However, you can rest assured that any lift he makes is of the highest quality.. I have installed a couple now and they are top notch. There are a ton and a half of his lifts floating around on this board.. nary a complaint.
  11. Crash course in fabrication and wiring Probably not, but then again, completeion and installation of your $4k RAM motor in an application it was not designed for is not going to be A)Easy if you do it yourself ot B)Cheap if someone else does it for you. Either way... If you own an old car and want to modify it, you had better have some mechanical knowledge, a willingness (and time) to learn, or a buttload of $$$
  12. Good news : 84= no timing belts Bad news 84 = No 4wd 5 speed. 450 seems reasonable if its in decent shape. There was one by my old house in WA that was for sale for a looooooonnngg time.. they wanted $1500 for it.. I'm betting its still there at that price.
  13. Dead at ~200k.. none of my EA82Ts have ever gotten above 23-24.. average 19-20
  14. Theres a 78 brat around here with an EA82T in it as well. It can be done.
  15. IIRC, its a 21mm.. but then again My experience with EA82s might be clouding my memories.
  16. True.. I generally forget to state the obvious. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.. I have never undone the balljoint during a strut replacement.. The tie rod end, yes.. but not the ball joint. Also, I did forget about the little tab for the brake line. I generally cut those and pop the line out of it.. I leave enough to slide the clip back on. It takes about 1 minute and saves bleeding the brakes.
  17. Hmm... seems to me there were 83-84 4wd auto GL-10s.. Never seen one that was a 4wd 4 speed though.. but then again, I get kind of a fuzzy, glazed look when confronted with anything older than 87:lol:
  18. You need a jack, a lugwrench, at least one jackstand, a 12mm, 14mm and a 17 mm sockets plus you need the struts and such from the junkyard....probably as much as the car is worth. Given that the car isn't a rustbucket, I can do all 4 corners in well under 2 hours
  19. Its very possible that it had air suspension.. My 87 GL-10 did.. that stuff is way more trouble than its worth.. and terribly expensive to fix.. however, it can be converted to regular strut/shock setup for pretty cheap, depending on availability iof parts in your area.
  20. The adjustable fronts aren't going to do you any good on a 4wd loyale wagon It has the longest available suspension of any of the EA82s..(87-94 4wd wagons).. The 85-86 adjustables, when cranked all the way up are about the same length as later model non adjustables. I have verified this by measuring the two side by side, out of the car. Side note. The struts I have in my car are from a 90 loyale 4wd wagon. The rear (non adjustable) are actually a tad longer than the adjustables (on their highest setting)I had intended to put in there.
  21. Its a misconception that EA82s randomly break belts. If good OEM belts are used and tensioners are replaced appropriately, the chances of an EA82 eating a belt are no greater than an EJ22. Where people run into problems is, most of the cars on this board are 15-20 years old and have a questionable maintenance history. If aircraft people maintained their aircraft the way 99% of the population maintains their cars, you would see a whole lot more planes falling out of the sky.. belts or no belts... For the record, I have even seen an EA82T in an ultralight
