  1. Touche' to mudrats comment, but Kudos to yours. I have been in thick mud that bogged my weak little subaru down and it was all because I didn't have enough clearance.
  2. I know you are asking about cour d'alene, but if you are near Oregon we have way laxed licensing and smog fees. To license your vehicle here it is about 50-100 depends on how expired your tags are, and almost all the places around Oregon do not require DEQ only the large metropolitan areas like portland and and I think salem require it. GOOD LUCK JM
  3. And look after all those mods, there is barely any clearance how week.
  4. Okay, I was to vague in my last statement I have to correct it. If I were you I would just build anything and everything for the car myself. For example, a snorkel buy some cheap tubing and make one, if you use metal have an exhaust shop bend it. If you use pvc, cut it to length put an elbow on it and fuse it together with pipe epoxy, just make sure to fit a filter on it. As for putting the tranny in it I would definitely do it, if it was cost effective. For example, $50 tranny do it, $400 tranny buy an EA82 with dual range and scrap the little suub. As for a lift kit if you live in Oregon, talk to me or mudrat I am sure either of us can fix you up with something..
  5. The dual range transmission is smaller than your current transmission and requires an adapter plate to install it. It will give you more low end, and in low range it would be hard to beat. BUT, as I said before the transmission is smaller and it is not designed to take the abuse from the larger engine and the heavier car. Although, I am sure it would last for quite a whyle (especially if you buy a brand new one) I have seen new ones go for about $1200, and used as low as $100, and dont forget that you will need a new clutch, pressure plate and maybee a flywheel. After everything (I would buy a new one) I would assume components alone would be about $1500 and thats not including Mudrats charge for an adapter plate and installation. I have had a transmission remove and replace done on a 87 wagon and cost me $300 so assume about 2000 to 2200, for everything. JM alliedarmament.com
  6. Just do what you want with it. I mean there is no/very little after market parts for the justy, but it is fairly capable. I would definitely say put the five speed in it will make the car slightly faster, and it offers you push button four wheel drive. Do you live in OREGON?
  7. I take it there is no lift on the vehicle! The biggest tire you can fit under there is probably no larger than a 27" with the torsion bars torqued and front struts cranked up. I dont think you could beat your fenderwells enough to make those tires fit.
  8. Thats a tough call! how high is your lift, and Have you adjusted the front struts all the way?
  9. We build lifts, we only advertise them for EA82's but we can easily refit them for EA81's. Go to our site and tell me what you think www.alliedarmament.com James Malarkey
  10. John I dont think you have to worry about any theft from us. We didnt steel anything from BYB and also were making sure that before we release are lift kit to the public that it is not like the BYB kits being sold by PK. As for the guy who stuffed his front bumper in the pit (that was albie my business partner) the one who owns the blue subaru. I am sure that you saw some of his suspension elements in his vehicle and that they are very different than those of the BYB lift, especially the rear suspension design. Although albie is fairly smart mechanically he is not an engineer and nor am I and I have been working hand n hand with engineers I go to school with to make sure that are kit is able to handle the stress and forces that people are going to put them through, also I want to make sure that all of our components are built correctly and will not seperate under use due to poor welds. That is why most of our manufacturing is going to be outsourced to various metal fab shops because there are some things we cannot do like lazer cut the strut support... Anyways, I am very interested in checking out your adapter plate and if it is needed I will purchase one. Also I have sent you a personal message inquiring about meeting with you because I currently only live about 40 minutes away, so if you want to talk we can talk in person. Thanks JM
  11. We are doing a 2.2 liter conversion in an EA82 wagon and doing a thorough documentation of the process on www.alliedarmament.com . The main question we have about doing this conversion is what clutch, Flywheel and pressure plate should we use in the conversion? Its either the one from the EA 82 gets bolted to the 2.2 or the 2.2 keeps its assembly. Im not really sure and I would like to know if anyone has any information regarding the subject. Thanks JM
  12. I am going to be away from my computer for the rest of the week, but I will be sure to try to make any one comfortable about the new product. There should be a slew of new information posted on the website www.alliedarmament.com in the next week and we should have some pictures of the lifts, comparisons etc all with pictures. Thanks for posts. JM
  13. Sorry to market on the message board just wanted to get the new lift out so people new about it. The more the merrier right, gives people selection and then they can make an educated decision. Also I am not trying to nock any of the other manufactures I only speak highly of their products, as I can attest the BYB is an awesome lift I just drove 3000 miles with one with barely a squeek. But, I am just trying to get something out there with a little more CLEARANCE, the thing that can make the difference of making it through a mud hole or getting stuck. Anyways, I am glad to be apart of the message bored and I will even more glad to meet you at future events. Oh and before I go yes we did compare our lift to the BYB kit in the end and we had to make some adjustments to some small design flaws, "you know thats what happens when you've never examined another subarus lift before." Anyways its late and if anyone has any questions contact me through our website. JM
  14. I did not claim that my companies lifts are more versatile than anything else out there I just made a statement that it is one of the most versatile lift kits out there. Comparing it to all lifts not just one (chevy, ford, etc.). I know that PK's lifts BYB are awesome, they are well built and durable, but we are building a lift that will give you more clearance and more 4X4 capability than there lifts. If you have any comments or questions you can contact me personally at malarkey2@aol.com . JM
  15. I will try to get some more pictures up soon of the other vehicles that are lifted . I am currently away from the shop so I will not have anything new on the website for at least a couple of days to a week. Also our system administrator the hillbilly with the gun at the bottom of the page at the contact webmaster icon is in Hawaii and im not sure when he will be back. He does all the website adjustments. JM
  16. We have peugot rims on our other vehicles. Also that was my associate at the event that is his car. As for other vehicles we have only installed five lifts. JM
  17. No rights infringement here, we built everything without even looking at another lift. Though there are some similarities they are not the same. Welcome to capitalism play ball...
  18. A castle nut is the nut on the end of your axle that sticks out of your hub, it is exposed on the outside of your wheel right in the middle. That is probably not your problem but you should check it out immediately. I would suspect that you have a bad axle, a bad tire, something stuck to your rim, a bent tie rod or a bad balljoint. If I were you I would jack the vehicle in the air all four tires off the ground. Start it put it in gear and have a friend watch your tires both sides and inspect it for warpage, then you'll know what side to start looking at for problems. note: Make sure your friend does not stand in front of the vehicle because the car may fall of your jackstands and drive right over him/her. goodluck jm www.alliedarmament.com
  19. I just put a post describing most of the suspension components. As for cost anyone who purchases a lift before 4/15/05 that is before our production date will only have to pay $350, after that date we are not quite sure of what our cost basis will be, but expect the lifts to cost around $450 or more. Remember it may be paying a little more than the BYB lift but you get a 5yr warranty. ~Josh~
  20. We are working on adapting Toyota king suspension to the front of the subaru (not for lift but for better suspension). The suspension is still stock, but there are strut extensions front and rear. There are also raising blocks and round tubing for subframe support in the front of the vehicle, we are also currently deciding whether or not to unify the whole unit for more strenght. as for the rear all we needed to do is lower the strut support, and lower the rear pumpkin. All the components are made of steel and will be parkerized then painted, but we may also powder coat. As for the trimming it all depends on tire size if you go real big like 30" or 31" plan on beating the inside fenderwall to death, otherwise anything 29 and under will just be trim and folding. What is good is that we are going to give an instructional video with the lift so that people know exactly how to install the lift, trouble shoot suspension problems, and fender well trimming. -JM
  21. If you look at my reply to the other post above yours you may have some clarity in my nature. As for the lifts effect on suspension geometry and fender well trimming. There is trimming needed to be able to install the 29's not a ton. The lift does add some strain to the axles but only by an extra ten to fifteen degrees. We have never broken a rear axle yet and have put over 10 thousand miles on the test mule. As for the front axles we have taken a BYB lift design approach, which almost eliminates strain on the front axles. Also we are giving a five year warranty on our product so if there is any defects you have five years to exploit them and have your lift kit parts repaired free of charge sans shipping. Anyways got to go leave a message and I will reply shortly. JM
  22. I'm new to the board, but I have been working on subarus for the last 10 yrs. Mainly backyard mechanics, but then I went to school for automotive mechanics never finished the whole program, but ended up getting my degree in business management. My associate on the other hand has been working on Suubs his whole life he's actually the one who designed the lift kit, and to make sure the kits will work we have trial tested the hell out of them, and worked hand in hand with some engineers I went to school with. We also purchased a Subaru from les in missouri off of ebay with a BYB 3"inch lift did a comparison found our flaws and made the revisions. Dont get me wrong those BYB lifts are good, but the just dont give you the ground clearance people are looking for. Anyways got to go be back on the board soon.
  23. hey do you allready have a lift we make, sell and install them. visit www.alliedarmament.com
