rear diff tilt angle whats possible?
Shadyirishmen replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Off Road
Our lift kits leave the front of the diff at an angle about 5 degrees or less, but we have had not a single problem with oiling. Mudrat another member on the board says that they have to be perfectly flat, but as I said before we have ours near 5 degrees no problems. -

Hey how about we create a thread of potential offroad magazines, and from there decide which ones would be candidates for subarus. That would rock:headbang: if we could get magazine coverage. I am pretty good at negotiating (just dont look at my thread on AUSUBARU). I would be interested in contacting some of these companies and talking to them. JM

I would be happy to help also. We are taking in a 2002 outback and constructing a lift for it this weekend, we will not know the actual outcome until monday or next week (depending on what parts are available etc.). You can check our website out at www.alliedarmament.com . Jon is very good also (mudrat design and fabrication). So you can pick and choose I am located in Scappoose and he is located in Eugene (both in Oregon).

The new rims are the same diameter on the opening (where the cap goes), but they dont have the flange or the lip to hold the cap on. I tried several subaru caps and they don't fit but oh so close. JM -

The rear diff is lowered in the back 1" by extensions in between the body mustache bar the front of the rear diff is bolted on with factory bolts. There is about a 3 degree angle on the rear diff so on approach it will slide better. I remember Jon (mudrat) saying that the diff had to be perfectly flat or it will sustain damage, well he freaked me out with that comment. So we pulled the rear diff. on the blue car apart and checked it out and its still getting oil and everything is a okay. I can put pictures up or send them to you if you'd like Also I know that you were interested in the lift how do you like the articulation??? No getting hung up in the back end; and now that we eliminated drilling the mustachebar and lowering the pumpkin it keeps the rear end nicely tucked for going over large rocks. -

I pulled the 3 inch BYB lift out and put a 4'' Allied Armament lift in it. I should take photos and do the comparison now. Its easy to tell just look at the rear end it doesnt sit below the frame like a byb. -

How do I certify them in Australia? I hear that you have to have an engineers approval. If some one could direct me to an engineer in australia I could send him the C.A.D. drawings!!! Help me out. James Malarkey CEO Allied Armament www.alliedarmament.com
