Would STI or 4piston calipers fit on my 96 Legacy 2.5L?
Dr. RX replied to RetardedGenius's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThey would probably fit, but you couldn't use the stock wheels that you have now, you would need newer WRX or STi wheels to have the clearance.

could thermosensor cause engine to run hotter?
Gee, let me see, thermosensor, could that be a sensor that senses the temperature? Would the ability to sense temperature cause an engine to heat up? UUMMM, why does the sensor need to sense the temperature? Maybe to adjust the fuel injection to adjust for higher temperatures. So if it adjusts for higher temperatures, would it cause higher temperatures? I think not, maybe the sensor going bad is the result of something else causing the temperature to get too hot causing the thermosensor to fail. What do you think?

WRX and STi guys... hoodscoop to IC surround?
Dr. RX replied to nkx's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe blue RX is my creation, I cut pieces off another hood and grafted them onto the stock hood to make it wide where it needed to be, then flaired them forward to match the original hood. You should be able to order the rubber dam from Subaru, get the one that matches your scoop.

2004 vs. 2005 Outback: Opinions please!
Dr. RX replied to janeinaz's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIn my humble opinion, there is no comparison, the 05 has the 04 beat in every asspect, especially the GT. Heck even my wife, who has said the 85 turbo wagon she now drives will be her last car, is trying to figure out how we can buy one.

USMB Decals PLUS lots of other decals.... (pending order list at end of thread)
Yep Mick, that's the color. Oh, are these for the inside of the window, or outside?? I wouild prefer inside, keeps vandals from removing them. If these are not inside one, you just need to cut a negative image.

Are there any FAQ's?
To answer your question, yes there are frequently asked questions, like: Where do I get Redline oil?? What is a LSD?? Can I install a XT6 engine into _______ (fill in the blank)??? What is the tranny ratio of a 8X BRAT??? This is just a few of the more common one, is there a place were these are stored?? Not that I know of. Oh, by the way, the answers are, I buy mine a B&B Auto Parts in Redmond, it is a Limited Slip Differential, yes you can, all it takes is time, money (lots of money), and a friend who is a fabricator, 3.90 unless it is a turbo, then 3.70.

Just Curious...whats an EJ-22??
Dr. RX replied to Allouez's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThey still make the EJ22, but not exactly the same as the early Legacys, but just as reliable. In 1994 I believe the EJ22 was an optional engine for the Impreza also. This is not a simple conversion, mechanically it is fairly straight forward, and some parts bolt up like they belong there. If you keep the tranny that came with the EJ22 (which I consider the best bet, since the EA series trannies weren't built for the power of an EJ22), you'll need to be able to fabricate a new tranny mount out of the one that came with the tranny. The driveline will probably have to be shortened (on an EA82 it is 55mm, not sure on an EA81). Now the fun begins, wiring the car so that the engine will run. Depending on if you just want the engine to run or you want full functionality of all the guages too, will determine how difficult of a task this will be. Let me know if you want to go this route, I might be able to help you out.

Well, I got the engine heating problem fixed, called up the inspection place in Union Gap and got another appointment for the 16th at 1:00 PM. Since I have the emissions test passed, I'll probably get the license plates over there so it with be legal driving home.

Dealer says to replace radiator
Dr. RX replied to Tinkerers's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'd be willing to bet that it has nothing to do with the bugs, I'll also bet you that you have the green antifreeze in your car. The green stuff and aluminum don't go well together, there is a chemical reaction that causes something like calcium to form, this gets stuck in the small passages of your radiator, after awhile it will creat a blockage. See if you can find someone with one of those laser temperature sensing things and check various sports on your radiator after it is up to operating temp, I'll bet that you find cool spots. Those areas are where water is not going through, and therefore not getting cooled. Eventually this stuff will completely block up your radiator, and you'll over heat you engine. Get a new radiator, abd flush out the engine and replace the green stuff with the organ stuff Prestone makes.

Starting problems on an 1989 Legacy RS
Dr. RX replied to 89rsguy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLegacys were introducted in Japan in 1989, there were sold in Austraila and New Zealand that same year. Some of these, I think the RS was one of them, had an EJ20G (turbo) engine. When I built UltimateRX, I said that Subaru could have built that car, they were producing both the RX series car and teh EJ20G engine that I put into it.

Inland Empire Tour (Tour Rescheduled)
The tour has been canceled. One of the fans has stopped working and the engine is running hot, so until a replacement gets here from Arizona, the car isn't going anywhere, except I might try to get it to emissions tomorrow afternoon. The A/C is fixed, but because of the engine heating problem, I'm not running it.

What is my gearbox ratio?
Chalk marks and jack stands won't give you the tranny ratio and that is what he is looking for. Pulling axles is easy if you know the trick, and since he wouldn't be completely pulling the axle, this won't be even easier. Fox and Shadow, the 85 and 86 RXs had the part time 4WD trannies and 3.70 ratio, plus 25 spline stub axles, actually the Fulltime 4WD trannies didn't show up until the 87 1/2 model.

Cast your votes
I'm really surprized that you had to ask. Of course, run the 85 into the ground!!! NOT!!!!!!!!

What is my gearbox ratio?
Gee, if you can figure out what the tranny ratio is, and you can see the decal on the rear diff that tells you the ratio there, why would you have to do all that wheel spinning???

Inland Empire Tour (Tour Rescheduled)
This Friday I'm going to be taking my 96 WRX STi Type R replica over to the Washington State Vehicle Inspection station in Union Gap, I have a 12:20 PM appointment. Hopefully by then I will have passed emissions (over here on this side) and will be able to get my license for the car either there in Union Gap, or over here in somewhere Friday afternoon.
