  1. It honestly depends on how much it's worth to you. In my opinion, anyone who buys a Gen1, buys it for a project, as a hobby. So whatever your hobby budget is. Have that number in your mind, and stick to it. Ask the owner how much he wants, and if it's more than your number, negotiate him down.
  2. The EF12 in the Justy is a completely different animal, I don't think I have to tell you that The EG33 is just an EJ22 with two extra cylinders, seven mains, I believe #4 is thrust. So Emily, if it's a SOHC EJ25, it's automatically a Phase II?
  3. I know for a fact that 99 Impreza 2.5RS's have EJ251s, or early SOHC 2.5 engines. I've seen plenty of them. I was under the impression that ALL USDM EJ engines were Phase II for 99, but I can't confirm that.
  4. I'll hafta double-check, but one of the part numbers came back as a wheel cylinder, and I believe it's the same part number I found when looking them up for my 79. That along might interest me in getting this. Stay tuned.
  5. All this stuff is specifically for a 360? The part numbers don't tell me what car they're for unfortunately. If I can use something, I'll buy it.
  6. The Hill-Holder should increase the life of the clutch, as you don't have to rev up extra high to catch yourself on a hill. My Legacy's clutch went out at exactly, and I mean exactly, 110k. I used to downshift a lot though.
  7. I'm tired of not knowing the answer to this, so I looked it up. According to my 1999 Subaru full-line brochure... the Legacies had the EJ25D (DOHC 2.5) in 99, which includes the Legacy GTs and the Outbacks. The Forester and Impreza 2.5RS had the EJ251 (SOHC 2.5) in 99. All 2.5s were SOHC from 2000-up.
  8. Trust me, there are a lot of people who are capable of buying a 500-horsepower car, but are not capable of HANDLING a 500-hp car. My friend had a 91 318is. I wish he still had it. It wasn't fast, but it was fun.
  9. There are currently zero in the country, but that doesn't mean FHI doesn't have some left. I can't check their inventory though The only way to find out is for someone to attempt ordering one.
  10. There's one piece of evidence that suggests otherwise. The new BMW M5 is available with a DSC override ONLY if it has the SMG trans. The new 6-speed MT version that BMW has reluctantly come out with does not have it.
  11. SOA001910: Obsolete 665001740: Obsolete 665001980: Active! It would backorder, but SOA hasn't said it's obsolete. If someone wants, they can order it and see what happens. Hell, I might even order it later on, couldn't hurt to have a spare!
  12. I'm off all weekend, but if anyone has SOA part numbers, I can still check national warehouse inventory online. If not, I'll see what I can find next week.
  13. I have done approximately a collective 60k miles of driving on bad wheel bearings. Drove my Legacy for a good 50k with a bad right rear (was bad when I bought the car), it had a bad left front for about 10k of that also. And since I've replaced all 4 bearings, the same two are making noise again, and I've driven for about 5k on those. Drove my grandpa's 93 wagon with two bad fronts for about 5k miles also. The moral of the bearing issue with my own car is this: Drive long enough on bad bearings, and you'll warp the hub, and any new bearing you put in that hub will be destroyed in short order.
  14. The exhaust has to come off, whether you drop the tranny or yank the engine. It's especially necessary to remove the exhaust on these cars because they have no cats (the non-Cali ones anyway) and thus the manifold assemblies reach back farther than the new Subarus. Use lots of PB Blaster and be very careful. Do it slowly. Worst case scenario, the studs will unscrew out of the head with the nut, and then you can just screw them back in and Loctite them.
  15. Could be leaking from the input shaft seal, or could be leaking from the rear main seal of the engine.
  16. Yeah, there's a thread about it in the Old-School forum too: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1177918 I hope there's some salvageable interior parts...
  17. It must have already been leaking fluid. Where do you see it coming from?
  18. The 'big nut' is the castle nut that holds the hub together. It actually screws onto the axle, but it keeps the rotor and hub together. With this nut loose, you're gonna have a noise like that and risk tearing up the splines on your axle and hub, and worse, damaging your wheel bearing. Definitely check that, and soon. If you keep driving around on it, you risk damaging something, or worse, having it come apart completely while you're driving
  19. Yeah, we've got a Forester CrossSports (they call them CrossSports in Japan, and I am so JDM, I can't help but call them that ) in the showroom. It's in WRB too. It gives me an erection.
  20. Yeah, it looks NOTHING like the Edsel grill. Yet I don't like it. It looks like it's trying to be aggressive, and it's failing miserably. I dunno what was wrong with the 05-07 design, unless Subaru feels like they have to follow suit with everyone else and change every 2 years (read: Impreza). However, I like our Outback nose better than the JDM Outback nose: It screams Chrysler Town and Country
