Evans Creek Photos (broadband only, 20+ pics)
and it was fun!! (yes, I am refurring to the "ride of my life" up the trail standing on the rear diff of a rail-buggy.... but I am ok... just have a little battle scars... (I get hurt more often working on my car, and i dont have fun doing that!) but anyways... I took quite a few pics- about 150+ but a lot were just random pics... (scenery, and trucks that did funny things like tip over!) i have a few good ones I can try to post, unless someone (tex? brian?) wants to host some of them for me? damage report on my car- *CV boot on the turbo side blew up and spattered hot grease on a hotter turbo on the freeway on saturday morning in Kent... (figures!) *car got hot several times... (not overheated, but one notch on the digi-temp guage from red) *mud on car (remember it was my "show car" *wires to starter flaked out and caused starter to fail.... (had to push start it at the top of a peak! , by myself!) I saw a lot from the top where i discovered my starter issue! the girl with the Forrester was cool- she had the nerve to take a 2003 forrester offroad! i got to ride in it up one of the trails, but we didnt go too far.... rocks started to hit the splash guard in front, so she decided to turn around (she let me do the backing down the trail ) anyways- here is one of my XT doing 4 wheel spins up a mini-hill climb!

Slightly OT: Salt In Washington (the state)
I know that near my house, (north seattle area) they spray those chemicals on the road, that lowers the freezing point, so it is still liquid slush stuff on the roads... it just dis-allows snow and ice to form on the streets! (makes it no fun though!)

(and where can i get one cheap? schucks has gone up in price! $24) and it seems like its running very rich again! (how do i know if my electric choke is working?) i will post pics soon

3AT FWD emergency! question???
ok, so i waisted away a whole day swapping out a 3at Fwd, and the one that was removed was definately bad.. and the one we put in which supposedly was good, turned out to not to work either!!! but, I am wondering, could bad fluid, or not enough, or too much fluid cause the car not to drive or make weird sounds when in gear (makes horrible rubbing noise, and doesnt move much when in gear) so we are going to swap trannys AGAIN!!! unless someone knows what I did wrong (if your wondering, we have old, crusty lookin atf in there, and if thats the problem, then a drain and replace would be easy! hoping for the best- call me tomorrow if you have a good idea- thanks

would anyone buy rebuilt EA81 or EA82s?
well, i sort of am doing that... I ahve a couple laying around... and I was wondering if anyone wants one cause then I could head to pullapart to begin collecting the cores (blocks and heads and stuff) to use to build the first "batch" up! I already have an EJ22, and an ea81 in "holding" so that could be a possible canadate for a sale, if anyone needs an EJ22! (but that one will be a pricey one!)

Weber special! bulk order, who wants to buy?
so I found a hook up on weber kits (DGAV 32/36) with the ea81 or ea82 adaptor, and air cleaner, with electric choke. I can get a better price (than normal) if I ordering in bulk (5 or more) he only gave me an approx price- its about $375 for the new kit, and the bulk discount would be about 50 bucks off each kit (so 325 or so each) and they take about a week to order, and they will come pre set to the type of car you order them for! so how many people would like to order them up if you would like to make this discount work? I have 3 sortof covered (one for sure) it would need to be paid in advance, (all at once) so that they can be ordered.... does this sound like a good deal to anyone else?

would anyone buy rebuilt EA81 or EA82s?
Carl, Dave and I have been working together, and we have decided to start rebuilding EA, and maybe even EJ engines... I have already done head work, and most evrything except rings and crank bearings (but will be done on next motor) so we have the experience and such.. what I am wondering, is would anyone want to buy a rebuilt engine? right now the ones we are working on a lot of, is ea81s.. and some ea82s... prices can vary, depending on if you have a good core, or parts for the rebuilt, or the level of rebuilt (just head work, just gaskets, or full rebuild.. ect.) or even things like the high compression ea81 mods and such.. we can also have them pre-installed with a weber too! (for carbed ea81/ea82) so what do you guys think? could I get some buyers if I do this? anyone have an engine that they would like repaired or rebuilt? (and keep in mind, they will be shiny clean too!) the pic attached, has a "before and after" style to it, its one head, half way thru cleaning.. (remember, this is inital cleaning)

Could I get a head count for Jared's get-together?
i think I missed the memo! when exactly? I dont know which car I will have ready to take... i know the impreza is ready for some bush action again! (it really needs a hatch patrol sticker, after all, it has gone on the hill climb with the rest of them! ) but I may be able to take the XT if I get the tabs renewed, and the Radiator replaced! or I could take the 80, if I get the weber tuned, tested and licensed by then! camping? for me I could do friday to sunday probably.. I have work on mondays of course! but is sounds like fun.. and now that I have a digital camera, I can get more shots!

ATTN: Stolen 87 GL in Seattle, WA
he he he.. I was thinking the same thing! I think I am gonna go grab a few ignition coils from PAP, and wire them up to the body somehow! yeah, that does suck though, especially knowing that most of my subarus at home start or at least open with the same set of keys! (some of them anyways) I have found that a lot of the older (this includes high milage legacys and imprezas) keys and tumblers get worn out like he said, and random keys will work! it got so bad on my high school wagon, that I could start it with anything that would fit in the slot!

progress on my ea81 install *updated 9/1 pics
almost done.... all I need to do now is install the weber, the distributor, and do all the fluids and tune it! here is another pic of the progress- look! its shiny!! (he he.. i also got bored with some spreaypaint) I plugged up the EGR valve assembly with a piece of sheet aluminum, (cut it to fit like a gasket, but it has no holes...) so there is no EGR- is that a bad thing?? I would think not seince I am going to be using the weber, and NO emissions stuff... (note the little blue caps over the vacume outlets...) is the ea71's Y pipe narrower than the ea81's ?? I was having trouble with it lining up properly! hopefully when it heats up it will line up better, cause the pipe is being spread apart by the engine!

How long do Imprezas Last???
Ratty2Austin replied to a post in a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have a 94 impreza L with about 125k on it, and it has the EJ18 engine with an AT, and I drive that thing hard (matter of speaking) but i do keep an eye on all the fluids, and parts that can cause trouble if I dont maintain them... but it is a very tough, durable and easy to work on car- weather its the 2.2 or the 1.8, (and if its not a 2.5RS, then it does not have the 2.5... so dont worry about that- good luck on your purchace Austin 94 Impreza L AWD 91 Legacy LS AWD 86 XT turbo 4WD 88 GL wagon 4WD 86 Brat 4WD 80 GL wagon 4WD

Iridium Plugs?
just go with the cheap, standard NGK plugs- about 2 bucks from the dealer! and they work great, and seem to last for a long time just my opinion... (from experience) Austin
