  1. i'm running spfi. sorry bout that, kinda slipped my mind. i already did an airbox mod (cut out) and noticed quite a bit of improvement. so, just feed air to a high flow cone filter? i was thinking that what i would do would be to make a venturi of sorts in which i would stretch the end closest to the filter and fit it nice and close. would this be a good idea to mount the end of this air inlet tube really close to a cone filter or should i leave a few inches¿
  2. i have an ea82 engine and was wondering how i might build an economical custom cold air intake. has anyone built there own from scratch. i'm sure someone has. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  3. i'm with you on that one medic. if all else fails, BLAME CANADA!!:moon:
  4. thanks for the advice, i was leaning toward the BYB kit. i have the skills necessary to fabricate one, but i'm not sure exactly what parts i will need and all that stuff. the byb lift will give me everything needed, plus instructions. i have only heard of one byb kit failing. this was due to improper installation, so i will feel really comfortable w/the byb. thanks
  5. i really want a lift and i have been washing freakin dishes to save money to get one:dead: and i was reading a post about a home made lift kit. i was wondering as a novice who knows the very minimal about lifts, should i build my own and get info from guys on the board, or should i just go with ease and simplicity and directions w/a byb lift?
  6. i know it's not a linkage problem. they aren't getting power or the motor wont take any power. but thanks for the ideas. it will be good to know:headbang:
  7. those were my first two ideas of course, but very logical. i just didn't want to rip that dash up to get my motors out. oh yeah, while i have the dash out, is there anything else i should replace? like the heater core or anything else. is there a way to get more heat into my cockpit this winter?
  8. can someone tell me the most likely area that a short would be found reguarding my wipers. my hand gets mighty cold moving that squeegee on the windshield as i cruise down the road in desperate need as winter will be here soon. any ideas will help, thanks.
  9. could i use the same method described above to make my own 4" lift? what all would be involved?
  10. definitely gotta see. take some pics when you get a chance. i've been thinking about that all day at my sh*tty job. i've got to see it, under the hood and w/the hood closed. sounds awsome.
  11. i'm curious about question number two, so i'll post to keep her up there. sorry, i don't know about the steering rack question
  12. this guy i call santa, who gives me all kinds of free parts, came up w/a temporary one from a car that he stripped. i went ahead and ordered the one from subaru. one thing that i figured out from "santa" that everyone else neglected to tell me was that when installed, the pedal needs to have about an inch of "play" before it engages. this is so some bearing doesn't spin all the time. probably just slipped your minds, but thats the kind of stuff i was looking for in my original post. but thank you all very much for the help and advice. take it easy:wave:
  13. that was the first thing i asked him, boz. but he took them to our local landfill/dump. i called them that day and they said they already ran their iron bin. bummer
  14. it just flashes and seems so urgent, kinda unnerving if it weren't in a subaru
  15. c'mon boz. it is funny. i just love the comments about how the spare tire helps keep the wheels on the ground and the body outline thing is cool too. seems to me like some kid. i kinda relate. but not all that gangsta b.s. talk oh, and boz, what's the status on those pugs?
  16. i went to checker, because they offera 5% low price guarantee. i bought the cable, fiddled with it a while, finally got everything in it's respective hole, went to link it up and found that it was too short. i then went to my local subaru dealership and they said the earliest they could get one in would be next monday. should i just go to the junkyard and get one? would it be strong enough? i know it would be cheap.
  17. i'm not sure if i have an initial pedal effort reduction spring. my pedal is just hanging limp. yeas, no. and is that the spring located just before the shroud on the pedal side, next to that little curved apparatus? oh, and this won't be real expensive, will it?
  18. anybody know which K&N filter would fit on an intake mod like toyofast's above?
  19. i went to get some parts today, and while i was flipping a u-ie, my clutch cable snapped. i was wondering what all was involved in putting a new one under the hood? i'm sure i could figure out how to get it in the shroud and link it up, but i'm sure there's more to it.
  20. i met this old man through an ad in my local newspaper for free loyale doors. i knew they would fit my gl, so i picked them up. when i get there, i find out that about one week ago, he gave TEN truckloads of free subaru parts away. oh man!!! and on top of that, the day i went over there, he just threw away 3 axles and a tranny(don't know exactly what kind). the worst thing is that when i said i was looking for a brushguard and a roof rack, he said he threw them away three days ago:boohoo: :banghead: :boohoo: he still has a few parts, but none that i really need. oh, he is giving me a rear window w/defrost. i was going to pay $125 to have one installed tomorrow. so, a little good, a lot of missed parts, but a full set of maroon gl/loyale doors and a rear window. anybody want the doors?
  21. sorry to come off like an ***hole, i didn't mean to. you should definitely replace the plugs and wires. the coil helps the spark by making it more intense and having it last longer. longer duration of spark means that your air fuel mixture will ignite better. the acell super stock coil puts out 42,000 volts and new wires will definitely be needed to carry the load properly. and the plugs are at the core of your ignition system. definitely replace those. i recommend something good, but not top of the line. i run the bosch platinum plugs. they are about $2 ea and do improveme over the stock plugs. bosch makes platinum, platinum +2's, and +4's. the 2's and 4's have that many spark maker things (can't recall the proper term). if that isn't clear enough on the plugs, just go to the store and have a look. like i said, you don't need too fancy a plug, but a mid-level is definitely a good idea
  22. dude, c'mon. follow the wire from your distributor and you'll find the damn thing. i think all you would need to install it would be a screwdriver. no wrenches for sure. very simple. if you buy it from a nation-wide chain like autozone or checker or napa, they can either install it or tel you how. very painless. good luck
  23. akira, kinda off topic, but i was checking out your center lamp and saw how rediculously shiny your brushguard is. what is it made of?
