what is this part called?
MaroonDuneDoom replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yes, THAT is what it is called. i am certain now. i'll just take the old one with me to the yard. -
i severly bent a FRONT part to which i do not know it's name. i KNOW most every one of you will know the name. it is the arm thing that comes straight out under the axle, and hooks to the bottom of the hub. two rods are connected to it. the rods are a curved one in front and a straight one in back that hooks up right next to the moustache bar. i need to hit the boneyard today to fix my ride so i don't have to hoof it. also, does anybody out there know what soobs i can scavenge this from?

got pulled over in my soob
MaroonDuneDoom replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i recently got clocked at 72 in a 40 at 2:45 in the A.M. (sober, thank god) the sheriff read my status (probation) then asked for a search. i told him to go ahead, and clean it out while he was at it. i haven't gone to court for it yet, but i plan to fight it. -
how to replace axle on my GL¿¿¿ HELP
MaroonDuneDoom replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the thingy i broke is opposite of the thingy that steers your car. and i broke a front axle. am i just not understanding you or was there a mixup. are you talking about front diff? -
i was recently in a minor accident involving a curb and a high rate of speed that resulted in my pass. side front wheel pushed all the way back to the fender. :banghead: OUCH!! i got lucky though, because that arm thing that connects right next to the moustache bar that sits under my tranny (forgive me, i don't know the part name) was all bent to hell, but the housing is untouched. that bar got bent horribly and my control arm (i think thats what its called) i bent too of course. but back to the point, how exactly do i change that axle out. it is broke at the CV or whatever it is called. it's the piece right next to the tranny. it broke off of that silverish drum looking thing. as always, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

YAY! My lift is in! - UPDATE - Installed the Tires today!
MaroonDuneDoom replied to GeneralDisorder's topic in Off Road
beautiful. just beautiful. i like the suspension lift in the rear compared to the traditional byb body lift. too bad mudrat isn't in wyoming, i'd have him help me out. i think it even looks good w/the stock size rubber, but will look mean as hell w/some big ol' mudders on it! ROCK ON:headbang: & LIFT WAGONS:headbang: -
EA82T guys - oil and coolant usage thread
MaroonDuneDoom replied to Dennis ex24's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my gl wagon drips oli everywhere. in fact, i leaks enough oil that i don't even have to do oil changes. it changes itself. some would see that as a big inconvenience, but hey, at least i don't have to change it. just filters now and then. as for coolant. i can put it in there and it only stays for about a week or so, then i have to add more. doesn't overheat though. BTW, how hard would it be to replace gaskets and whatnot to find my damn oil leak. keep in mind, i am no master mechanic. would this be worth my time or should i pay a shop to do it? -

Headlight oddity & "Why I Love Subaru's!"
MaroonDuneDoom replied to the_bard's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my first car was a mazda b2000, and it did that. i would four wheel it and go to turn the damn thing off, and no keys. i'd have to hunt all over that little truck for them. oh, and she died w/230k miles. not bad at all. -

i don't know about the markers because my wiring is jacked so they don't come on when i turn the lights on. but when i turn the switch to the on position, i can use my headlights. -

in my gl, you can just turn the switch to "on" and use the lights. engine off and everything. -
wiring tips for dual electric fans¿¿¿
MaroonDuneDoom replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hey suby nut. i understand your wiring diagram, but where can i get the relays, and which ones do i need? also in your diagram, it shows two thermo switches in the radiator. is this stock? one more thing, is the thermo switch the little plug looking thing in the bottom of the radiator? i figure it probably is because it has wiring going to the fan. how EXACTLY could i do a setup like yours? i want the same options. it sounds pretty solid w/the fans turning on at the temperatures that you mentioned. thanks -

i really need to know this so i am posting to keep it at the top of the list. hope nobody cares. -
i want to mount an extra electrical fan so i don't overheat so easily in 4 wheel. what would be the easiest/most trouble free plan. i'm thinking that i want one to run on a temperature sensor and the other one to be switched. how exactly would i wire the temp one and what all would i need to run one of them switched?

i hit a square curb at about 30. i'm fine of course. i always wear a seatbelt. my friends all got huge eyes when i came rubin around the corner. they were saying things like "good thing it's a subaru" and the like. makes me feel a little better about my car. but not that much. :temper: :temper: :boohoo: :madder:

i love this feature. my tail lights wont work if i turn the light switch just one notch. wiring is a messed up. so at night i've always run the parking lamp to avoid being pulled over, accidents, etc. -
i just took one of those cheap little cup holders that slides into the window area on your door.i cut the angle off of it so that it was flat. i then drilled two hole and screwed it to the dash. holds just fine and doesn't require much work . first performance mod i did to my wagon. don't be this guy:drunk: holding your beer like a sucker. get a cup holder:headbang:

man, these sound like horror stories. my subaru dealer is probably the same way, but i wouldn't know. i've never really checked on any parts other than a clutch cable, and they had it the cheapest in town. p.s. wrecked my car last night. pass. side tire pushed far back into fender. sight for sore eyes. just had to vent and tell someone instead of crying.
