  1. i'm pretty sure it's fairly easy to do. i THINK you'd have to remove the hub and all that junk to get to it, but it's not as difficult to remove after you get under it and take a good look. someone else on the board will hafta clarify but i think you could do it your self. and jim martin, what part of colorado are you in?
  2. my problem is simmilar but my bumper is bent up. i hit a boulder after a night of four wheeling. i don't have functioning wipers and i had an inch of mud everywhere except the gate on my wagon. i was headed down to the river nearby to clean the windshield and windows. i'm driving with my head out the window to see and all my passengers suddenly yell "left, LEFT!!" we hit a boulder that was a half inch taller than the bumper. we went right over it and nothing got bent past where the bumper "rail" connects to the rest of the frame. all the bending was in front of the wheel on pass. side. not a damn thing broke except a temp sensor for my elec. fan. we hit the damn rock so hard that we went right over it and just bounced on the frame and fell right off it. but yeah, it's bent up on the pass. side and it does not affect alignment at all. the fender was a bit crunched but i kicked it into shape. oh, and the pass. side doors are a little harder to open now. but who cares, i don't sit over there! hey BlueSoob, i won't tell.
  3. c'mon, i know a few of you guys are reading this post and i really could use any type of suggestions. should i just go to a body shop and have them bend it back or is there a jerry-rig way i can do it?
  4. c'mon, i know a few of you guys are reading this, just give me a quick answer. thanks for puttin up with me y'all:drunk:
  5. how would i go about tightening my belt on an ea82 SPFI? haven't really taken a look, i'm gonna go wrench the hell out of it later today. the wind quit blowing and it's currently not snowing, so i figure i'll capitalize on the situation. good weather is a rarity in wyoming:santa:
  6. i've had a couple front end pass. side collisons and needless to say, the subframe is a little bent up. i was wondering if anybody has any methods that would work to get her back into shape. the two things i've thought of would be a kansas jack (which i do not have access to) and parking under a tree and jacking it up. any ideas? HELP!! very unsightly, and need to impress girl. at least have it lookin decent w/a grill and a bumper skin. it's already a soobie, the panties will drop:brow:
  7. i don't know about "yank the whole tranny" it just sounds like more work than NEEDS to be done. i don't know anything about this topic i'm just tryin to get some clarification from beauregaardhooligan. ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
  8. my expierience is that the mechanical fans only come on auto's. it is this way because the radiator also has to cool the trany fluid or something LIKE that. i broke the sensor for my electric fan on my 88gl 4wd manual. i replaced it with the stock mechanical fan from an auto. it now sounds JUST like a turbo screamin down the road. i'm gettin ready to install dual electric fans so as to free up that ten or so horses that the mech. fan robs. i HIGHLY reccommend looking up an old post of mine titled "wiring tips for dual electric fans" just search for dual electric fans. you should find it and includes a whole bunch of stuff to steer you in the right direction. ditch the mech. fan ASAP good luck:wave:
  9. i was wondering what is the biggest tire size i could fit under an 88 gl wagon and a byb 3/4 lift? i'm willing to do trimming and pounding, just wondering what sizes i could fit and what pros/cons would come with that.
  10. it's kind of a pain in the rump roast working w/that pedal and stuff. but once you get down there and look at it, it will all come together. much more basic than i had envisioned. it worked right away w/very little tweaking. oh, and make sure to have about an inch of play so your throwout bearing isn't always spinning. this will wear it out fast. overall, i would give yourself at least an hour to an hour and a half for your first time.
  11. my cable snapped last month and i had to replace it of course. i went to checker because they would beat anyone else's price in town. long story short, the dealership had it the cheapest but they had to order it. i went to checker w/the dealer price, they beat it, and the damn cable was too short. i HIGHLY recommend the oem cable. i got a cable from this old guy who gave me a bunch of soobie parts. it's best to get a new one, but if it's not a big deal to you, find one in the boneyard that looks fairly sturdy. they last a good 100k miles and i don't feel that a used one would make a big difference. best wishes. and above all have fun. HA HAHA HA:banana:
  12. yeah, they will go anywhere. i got calls from three different friends asking me to come pull them out. they know the power of the soobie.
  13. what is the best speed to shift out of 4hi w/3.9 gearing? it seems it has been having trouble w/shifting out. but i found that it usualy shifts better at certain speeds. any input?
  14. GOOD LORD!!!!!!!!!!! why oh why do you people WANT snow. you can't really hit the trails in the snow. and it's cold and my wipers are broken. well, best wishes.
  15. how easy is it to lift the suspension a couple/few inches? what all does it involve?

  17. are you not supposed to use power steering fluid? i thought that is what it is meant for.
