  1. i just bought a new t-stat and was wondering if i need to drain my colant first. if so, how do i do this on an ea82? thanks all
  2. there were some pretty unfortunate happenings involving my wagon. i had an awful overheat and it broke down on me. i went back to it today and it started just fine. big improvement. it is overheating to an extreme extent. way above the top of the red! it'll be hot as hell but the radiator will be cold. i bought a new thermostat. a 180 degree. i'll put that in and then check compression to see just how damaged she is. thanks for everyones input. oh yeah, it seems to stall out a bit at 31/2k rpm. what could this be?:boohoo:
  3. it's not head clearance that i need. w/my new seat cover i gain about a 1/2 inch-1 inch or so. even without the seat cover the angle that my feet hit the pedals fatigues my legs alot faster than most other cars. there aren't any XT in any yards in my area. i'm gonna be making a trip to cheyenne in a couple weeks and i'll check down there. i saw the XT seats and they look like they have alot of lateral suport.
  4. i chrome spray painted my wiper arms and my sprayers and it gave me about 7hp at the front wheel on the dyno. it was a dyno made for hondas so i'm not sure if that 7hp is true or not. it sure looks fast.
  5. yo caboob, thanks for the info. you just gonna cancel the windshield? kinda hard to ship. i won't mind.
  6. i'm sure most of you read of my recent misfortune. i was wondering i f i'm gona need head gaskets or a whole head set of gaskets. which ones will i need. i really love this car and want to get her running again. oh, and it's having trouble starting. what could that be?
  7. i was driving the day before yesterday and my heat was working fine. i went to drive yesterday and no such luck. it was running red hot, above the top-most line. so i topped off the coolant and when i did, i heard the antifreeze gurgle through the heater core. it pushed heat for about five minutes and then just cold. it was overheating very, very badly. i let her rest, did some partying, and when i drove home, it was overheating again and the lifters started to tick. they would tick very fast and only at half throttle. no tick until about half way to the floor. if i would push it beyond the "ticking" section of pedal, it would bog down. it ran like this for about 60-90 seconds. it died and i rolled to a stop and turned the starter to no avail. i pushed her to the side of the road and walked a few miles in below zero weather w/o gloves or hat and woke up my mom's boyfriend. this was about 2 am. so we drove to where my wheels were and i decided to try and start her first. it started. i got it back to his place, turned it off and wouldn't start again. it all stemmed from a cooling system problem i think. it sounds like the t-stat. but i think my oil pump is shot too. it's reading no pressure. my mom's boyfriend told me that if i ran it without oil pressure for even a couple of blocks that it is junk. how true is this? :boohoo:
  8. i think we should have a HUGE get together next summer. it will be dry, and the weather will be nice. i just don't want to venture mywagon on it's first road trip just to go slip around and get stuck in the snow. i wanna climb some hills and tear some s*** up!
  9. GD, after this one is "dead". i'll take my parts and put them on another wagon. i am definitely going to keep them both running. i just want a turbo wagon. it will be at least a year before i even contemplate buying a turbo wagon. i rather look into a turbo conversion though. that'd be cool. i was just saying that with a lifetime warranty, i can transfer that clutch to many more soobies that i WILL own in the course of my lifetime. i'll have the STi of course, but there will always be a wagon for play tucked away in my garage.
  10. they make tools just for pulling ball joints. they look kinda like a gear puller. most auto parts stores will have one. i think they're less than $10. definitely get a tool or have someone do it. i ruined my ball joint using improper jerry-rig methods. it is very important for the ball joint to stay sealed so no dirt gets in and no grease gets out. best of luck
  11. caleb, are you sure that was my car you saw. oh wait, yup of course. she's a good reliable honey and will climb just like the bigguns do. just not much clearance. i've never torn into a clutch before so when i get it dismantled i'm gonna post pics. i don't have the best camera, but i hope it will at least show some detail. replacing just the worn parts if a very good idea, but that lifetime waranty is pulling me in. if i can get just the affected parts w/lifetime warranties, then i'll do that of course. i plan on buying another gl/gl10 after this one quits. i'll use the one i have now for parts. i can always use that clutch. they're not going to know that i have put it in a different vehicle. plus, i've heard stories on the board of clutches wearing out in as little time as 8-12 months. i drive it pretty hard so i better get something with a lifetime warranty.
  12. of course. i wouldn't have posted if i hadn't. i was just wondering if anybody knew if they were somehow wired together. just tryin to save some headaches. i'll just tear the damn dash apart and rewire. i KNOW that will work.
  13. what would be the best clutch to use. i'm looking for a clutch that would enable me to order the whole kit and make it all fit. if that's not possible, i'm willing to tear s*** up at the junkyard. suggestions?
  14. :slobber: i'll be dreaming of this one. not as baddass as the wagon with the wrx motor in it, but nonetheless a wicked car. poor man's STi. i ordered an STi emblem for my ea82 SPFI wagon. i know it's gonna give me more horses. it has to. at least thats what my friends in the ricer forum said.
  15. two inches, oooohhh. wow. all joking aside it sounds like you're having fun. it snowed really heavily the day before all hallows eve and i was pullin em-effers out left and right. people would be stuck on the most meager hills because they had to stop for a light. i'd start to spin, then just throw her in 4hi and tear up the hill. laughing all the way of course. we get ice really bad here though, so i don't really like to drive in it. who knows, with all this el nino/la nina b/s maybe it will snow in AZ this year! well, even if the snow isn't around, the beer always is! chairs mayte:drunk:
  16. will i purposely hit a dog/cat or deer? no. will i sqaush any rabbit i can get my tires on? yes!
  17. turbone, i know it will change the speedo reading, but also the final drive ratio. thats what i meant by more speed with larger tires.
  18. yeah, i think thats what i'l do. i'll find a way to modify the brackets so that i can lower it a couple inches and still be able to move it up if my girly wants to do some wheelin. i'll post pics if i ever get it done.
  19. i am in desperate need of a new clutch for the wagon in my sig. i went to autozone and they have one for $204 with lifetime warranty. i'm thinking this would be a really good idea. does anybody know of anything like this on-line? installing after x-mas.
  20. my lights above the cluster in my wagon have been non-functioning since i bought my car. my driving lights don't work either. i have to flip the switch for my park lights so i can drive at night and be seen. could the two of these be interrelated? help on both? "many tanks"- hussein god i love that one
  21. whew!!! a sigh of relief. kinda. not that big a deal.
  22. i need to lower my driver's seat a few inches to make it more anatomically friendly as i am about 6'3''. the angle on my foot is killing me. does anyone have any bright ideas? i was just asking because i haven't ever checked out the bottom of a soob seat. i know i'll have a little fab work to do, but i was wondering if someone can picture what i'm saying and give me some tips on how to get the bastard down a couple/few inches. "many tanks"-hussein
