Eeeek! Flasher!

Featured Replies

hehe.

So the 84 2wd wagon I've been working on now moves under its own power.. but lacks a few things like quiet brakes, 3rd gear, and turn signals. The indicator on the dash lights up solid, but does not blinky. I checked all the lights in a walk around, they seem to light up just fine, which would mean the flasher is out-

I have been trying to find the flasher for this thing, looking at location diagram in the haynes, picture shows it to be a box shaped peice next to a cylindrical peice, to the right of the fuse box. The 2 peices in that area are both cylindrical, and are 4 prong. Good old Schucks equipped me w/ a 3prong flasher, box shaped. This does not compute.

Has schucks sent me on a goose chase (again)?

Or should I be getting more invasive in my search...

Thanks

Well not one to put much faith in a company that should stick to making underware (Haynes)

How about turning on the 4 way flashers, listen for the click under the dash, me bets the TS flasher is close by, may evan be swappable for a test.

Sorry if this CS** test fails for I am but a grasshopper.

**Common Sense

Skip has the right idea. If I remember correctly, it's a round cylindrical, aluminum unit attached to the steering column. Listen for the sound and then "feel" which unit is making it.

If it's broken, it's not gonna make much noise.

I can show you where it's at if you want Caleb. Shoot me a call after your work. We can use the one in the blue hatch for now.

It may still click and just have bad contacts in it, or it may not click and actually be frozen up, so my sugestion would be to find the flasher on someone else's car using Skip's technique...... that's of course only if it indeed does not click....

Hope you find it!

no, there is no blinking or clicking...

Zap, I will give you a call here in a bit

No great sense of urgency here, I forgot to have the girl

I picked this up from sign the title. duh. and the 3rd gear thing kinda clips the wings a little..

Sorry my post was so misleading.

Except for Ed, you guys all missed I said

turn on the

4 way flashers

Wait a minute do they both use the same flasher??

like my sig. says, I learn stuff all the time,

my apology

stupid suggestion,

hope you find it.

Zap will set you up.

I dunno if this helps or not...

But in my 82 BRAT the right signal stayed on solid and the left one blinked...

I replaced the right front light wiring harness with one from a junkyard and the problem went away
