SCOTT, (you're) on..........BUILD OFF 2010

Featured Replies

Scott challenged me to a build off.we have to determine the rules.whatup?cheers, brian:lol:

i say:

this will take place at the offroad meet.trail to trail.

the only thing i cannot do is the lift, due to space constraints.....my lift sponsor will take care of that:grin:...if that is ok, i will be doing all the work myself on everything else.

cheers, brian:grin:

Yes.

I can't help but think this will turn out with two more awesome Soobs on the USMB.

Everyone will be a winner.

If the lifts aren't made by the competitors, wouldn't that make it a "Bolt-On Off"?

not sure i follow jeff, why do you have to be so cryptic.geez, like can you dumb it down some for us hillbillies?cheers, brian

i would love to, but it would take me awhile.he hzas a shop and stuff.fair is fair.he asked me, so that is my request for him......if he does not mind.if he does , then ************ it.the car is getting lifted anyway.......so , it makes no mind to me.i will build just like i was gonna anyway.

i went the easy route on my last build too.....

so i am really getting a kick out of thinkin about going just one step further to see if my recipe will pay off....ya know.i think it would be fun....besides,it is more about ability , than who does what...he has a buddy helpin him, that i am sure will be helping with stuff that scott does not know about....so ....there ....jeff...

cheers , maybe...brian

I'm Will. I'm 3eyedwagon named after my 1982 wagon. I'm the fat, cocky, arrogant, loveable one. Jeff is OneEye after his one working eyeball. Jeff is only chubby, but, not cocky or arrogant, and only a little loveable.:lol::lol:

Brian

this gives me more motivation to get er done quick and not be distracted by other new and old projects, I must have A. D.D. or somthin

So should there be some rules or something like. You both need to have the same car. OR you both need to start with a car from scratch. What about wheeling said vehicle. Because then it not only becomes a build off competition but a wheeling ability competition as well. And my car is still available in stock form:grin:

  • Author

it is a capability competition.which means wheeling.which means whatever goes, to do the same thing.

there should be some limiting factors though.i am sure they will get figured out..cheers, brian

So you 2 can do a build off, but then you need to expand it to more folks when it comes to the competition, or at least one entry for each type of build... then have the trails contest with some way to judge or measure performance or each skill/obstacle.

Then you'd have a somewhat definite answer to "which build is best" for ability... granted this doesn't take into account driving skill though....

examples of build types (limited to D/R), and (mild stock engine builds and weber carb OK); Each progressive class potentially building off the other:

Assumes Soob body, transaxle, engine

Platforms to start with

1. '81 GL Brat

2. '82-'87 Brat

3. '81-'84 "EA81" 4 dr Body Style

4. '81-'87 Hatchback

5. '85-'89 "EA82" Body Style

Class 1 - Stock D/R Soobs

Class 2 - Normal Unibody Lifted - Tranny swaps OK, Traction Aids in Diffs OK

Class 3 - T-Case lifts

you'll have additional variations within classes 2 and 3 for engine/trans swaps, and SAS options.

you could then do scores within class, and scores over all.
